  1. I found a reasonable used XDS 9mm produced 3/2014. I tried two shot timed drills with OWB holster supplied by SA. Gun handles good and fast trigger reset. Now I'm wanting a good IWB for appendix or Kidney carry. I don't know if I want kydex construction due to wear on XDS finish. What do you have?
  2. Thanks pops572 for the link and information. I like the XDS size and if I was to buy one wanted to insure it had been fixed.
  3. How do you know if a used XDS has been thru recall and returned if you buy used gun? Did SA mark the serial nos. or some other part of gun if processed for recall? Those that received guns back after recall was there a marking placed on gun or serial? I know paper work was returned, but I don't know if a physical mark was placed on return gun.

    RRA lar-9

I have the RRA Lar9 and it has functioned great, no problems. My wife loves it and can shoot and knock over 6 bowing pins in a row hitting the top of each pin using the red dot reflex sight I have mounted on it. Mags are about $32 a piece but Outpost Armory cares them.I have the Ar and about 4 mags. Makes a great house/farm gun especially when you have several 9mm semi-auto pistols.
  5. I picked up a post repair/recall XDS in 9mm. The trigger is not as smooth as my SW M&P 9c nor my prior Shield. Has anyone noticed a heavier and spongy trigger pull after they got it back from recall/repair? What can be done for this trigger pull. I know there is a spring kit for XDS to improve trigger but internet  videos show a pretty complicated disassembly and reassembly. What have other owners done? I like the feel of the gun and it's size, but don't like the trigger. What to do?
  6. I used a 223 Wydle in a Rainer Arms 18" stainless barrel mid length gas port with 1:8 twist in my longer range build. I've shot upto 69g bullets but have not tried the 77 g yet, due to price of bullets and availability at LCS. I've save brass but have not reloaded for 5.56/223 yet. The 69 g bullet is the most accurate so far, but need to try the 77 g. Good luck with your build.
  7. Sounds like gas block as loosened and gas port of barrel and gas block are out of alignment.
  8. This build was a 16" light weight carbine length at 5.5 lbs shoots and handles well, but I have an 18" mid length in 223 Wylde for longer ranges,  another SW 16" mid length 5.56/223, another SW 18" mid length in 308/7.62x51 for even longer ranges, and a RRA 16" carbine 9mm. Now I'm questioning why I built this one. AR assembling/accessories are too addicitive and consume too much cash, but probably a good investment.
  9. I have a sight pusher also that I have used on M&P Shield, but I'm off exit 111 of I24.
  10. I sent original photo and two photos with area/scrastch oiled to Joe Bob Outfitter's sales. They felt it was a scratch or tool mark also. They gave me credit for difference in price of a blem upper receiver vs JBO receiver. JBO is a good place to order AR parts/etc with fast delivery and fast response to product questions.
  11. It appears to be a hairline crack, especially if you wet it with gun oil. I was planning on using it but didn't know if I should complain to JBO, for an exchange.
  12. I installed a RRA bolt assit on a JBO stripped upper receiver. The roll pin installation went smoothly, but when I looked at upper receiver assit area there was a hairline crack. See photo. Has anyone had this problem, and is it an installation problem or a upper receiver forging problem? I installed roll pin from opposite side from where hairline crack appeared. 13. I went and air conditioning is not working. No growd and plenty of walking room. I only lasted 2 hours. I probably want be going to anymore summer shows since air doesn't work.
  14. I'll probably be there early Saturday morning also. I have a lightweight AR that is a safe queen to try and sale.
  15. I shot some in 308 and had alot of split necks, but ammo functioned okay.
  16. I'm pretty sure I saw the Murfreesboro show listed this coming Saturday/Sunday.
  17. E-mail from CMP said IHC Garands "Sold Out" no more orders until Nov.2014.
  18. I built a polymer New Frontier Armory complete lower receiver with 16" 1:9 twist M4 profiled barrel with railed gasblock and milspec handguards, without loaded mag 5lb 7oz. I have some cheap UTG flipup sights, but fixed sights are just too slow and don't work for my aged eyes. I shot 35 rounds Of PMC 5.56 Nato ammo and zeroed sights for 50yds. Gun feed and extracted with little recoil. All extracted brass at 3:00-4:30. I would like to try an entry level red dot or reflex sight to use out to 100yds but mostly 50 yds or less.  What would you recommend? Have scopes on my 18" barreled 308 and 18" ss barreled Wydle 223 and both have flip-up battle sights..
  19. My Zomie and hunting guns, I have the Ruger Redhawk 7.5" barrel and a Marlin 1894 with 20" barrel both in 44 mag. I also have the Ruger GP100 with 6" barrel in 357Mag/38 spec.  I sold my Marlin in 357mag, for it set in gun safe and I wanted an AR in 5.56. My one goto gun, three calibers in one,  is a Glock 23 Gen3 in 40SW with a 357 Sig barrel and a 9mm conversion barrel with 9MM mags.
  20. Can not beat a Kahr PM9 or its more economical brother CM9. Small single stack 6 shot 9mm with a great trigger.
  21. I ordered one of their 16" 5.56 barrels which was shipped Friday.
  22. Primary Arms has 15% off on barrels. I ordered a Tactical Ambush 16" 5.56 Nato barrel- M4 profile-carbine length gas block- 1:9 twist for $114 shipped. Has anyone tried these barrel before. Hopefully will be good 50yd to 100yd shooter.
  23. I checked their website and they have some low barrel prices. Has anyone bought one of these barrels???
  24. TrickyNicky, I'll try the plastic takedown pins but will have a metal backup set. These AR's and accessories are too addictive. If I keep this up, I'll have to find a part time job.
  25. I received my complete polymer lower today from JoeBob's for $110, then $25 transfer fee at LCS. The only negative I see is Plastic take-down pins front/rear. It does have a metal buffer tube. Has anyone had any problem with failure of plastictaken-down pins. Now I need an economical 5.56 16" pencil barrel 1:8 or 1:9 twist. I've not decided if I want an A2 front sight or M4 flat top with railed gas block. Suggestions. I want minimum weight and my target build price is $485, if all items come into inventory at Palmetto State Armory, JoeBob's, and JSE Surplus. I can not afford to buy a complete upper at one time (Palmetto has some good Memorial day sales), just what parts I can buy cheaply each month.
