The SOLO and PM9 will fit the same holster. I have a Galco OWB and a Alien Gear that both fit. The PM9 has a longer trigger pull and is less recoil sensitive to me. The SOLO has 2.7" barrel with OA weight 17oz unloaded and the PM9 has 3.1" barrrel and 14 oz OA weight unloaded. Both are dependable 9mm single stacks and both of mine have night sights.

I bought a used Kimber Solo Carry DC 9mm lnib with extra mags. The previous owner wanted to sale due to the recoil. He had bought it about 9 months ago and shot around 200 rds thru it. He said he had no problem if shooting 124g bullet or heavier. I took it out today and shot 53 rds thru it at a fixed target 15ft away using the below assorted ammo: 124g fmj WCC 11(head stamp) 11 rds (6rd mag) 0 (8rd mag) 125g Triton BHP P+ 6rds 8rds 115g hp 1200 fps reloads 6rds 8rds 115g Blazer Brass fmj 6rds 8rds total 53rds I had no miss feeds and the slide stayed open on last round of each mag. I made sure bullets were aligned in mag when loading and mag was inserted with slide open and slide release was dropped to feed 1st round. Recoil was heavy to web of hand. Accuracy at 15 ft was good. Looks like a keeper for alternating with PM9 for conceal carry.

I found on Amazon.com that they have an aluminum pinky extension for $27 + shipping, from a company in Texas. Steep price for a pinky extension compared to <$10 for other single stack pistols. I saw where some are taking rubber mag bumpers from 45 mags and file them to fit bottom of Solo mags and attach with screws threaded to floor-plate and buff screws flush inside. This would be a good project for future sales for some of our machine shop members.

I like the feel/appearance of the Kimber Solo but a pinky extension on the magazine looks as if it would help with grip and recoil. Is there a pinky extension available for the 9mm Solo?

I posted on S&W Forum also, thanks

I like the Model 66 but have read/heard that the hot 125g bullet 357 mag factory loads are detrimental to the forcing cone and may stretch the frame. I don't like the recoil of these factory loads and I load for a 1100 fps to 1200 fps velocity using 357 mag nickel brass with WW standard/mag primers, Unique 7.8g for 1200 fps or A#2 6.2g for 1100 fps. The A#2 load makes the Ruger SP-101 2 1/4" and 3" manageable and accurate. I haven't shot the Unique 7.8g load in the SP-101's yet. I know 158g hp 357 mag factory loads were recommended for the Model 66, but was this due to lower factory velocity and/or more bullet contact surface. Will this reduced load in 125g Hornady XTP be less harmful or do I need a longer bullet to make more contact such as the 158g Hornady XTP? thanks

Thanks for everyone's input. I bought the 66-2 to shoot and that's what I going to do. I've had several Model 66's in the past, since I started shooting handguns in the 60's. I've always liked the balance/feel of the K frame over the L-frame. If it doesn't live up to my shooting expectations then I'll sale or trade it. I usually shoot hand-loaded 357 mag with Unique or Accurate #2 to get velocities 1100 to 1200 fps for a 125g Hornady XTP bullet. Recoil is not as bad as the regular 125g HP 357 factory loads and I assume the forcing cone will be subject to less pressure. Accuracy in my GP100 4" with these loads is very good.

I purchased a used S&W 66-2 4" with target grips, target trigger, target hammer, white outlined rear sight and red ramp front sight with box/papers that dates to around 1985. The gun looks as being fired little or not at all. The SS finish had been polished. The previous owner had bought gun used, had it polished, put in safe and never shot it. I hate to shoot the gun due to its like-new condition and/or reduction of value. What do you think, keep as collectable and not shoot or shoot and enjoy?. I bought the Hogue finger groove grip for the K/L frame. Bought one used for $15. I wish they made this grip without finger grooves.

I picked up a used Model 66-2 with S&W target grips which are too thick for my hand. I'm looking for a comfortable slim after market grip in rubber or wood, and not pricey. I bought this gun to carry in woods and shoot.

I've been looking for a Model 66 in good condition, and have found a 66-2 4" on another forum. What is the value of this type revolver in very good condition, it looks in photos as if it as been polished? The owner said it was produced in 1983 and has been fired very little. My used gun value book is a 2011 edition, so not up to date on current revolver values. Includes gun/box/cleaning kit, but S&W box has no label on flap in photos. Is gun worth: $400-$450 $450-$500 $500-550 $550-600 >$600

I regret letting go of several Sig P220's that I have had. I bought one several years ago that I plan on keeping. My only pistol with hammer, DA/SA.Now alot of striker fired with polymer frame.

I saw this in TN Gun Show listing for this weekend at National Guard Armory. Has anyone every attended this show before? An hour and 15 minutes away, I don't know if it is worth the drive.

I'm leaning heavily toward the 4" SS GP100. I have a SS Super Blackhawk in 44 mag and that sort of feels my long gun revolver needs. This gives good back-up for my 1895C Marlin in 44 Mag. Both GP100's , the 4" and 6" are beautiful revolvers. Next I'll just have to come up with a price to put on the GP100 6" or what to look for in trade. Thanks for all the inputs.

I need help in deciding which GP-100 to keep, one with 4" barrel or the 6" barrel. The 4" seems to be more balanced, is lighter, and carries easier in a holster. Both guns have a good trigger. The 6" has a longer sight radius which may improve accuracy. Both revolvers would be used for rangers 50 yds or less. Those that have one or both barrel lengths in a revolver, what are the pro's for your gun. I have had the 6" for several years and the 4" is a new purchase. I really do not see a need to keep both revolvers. HELP.

I bought a like new 2004 Marlin 336 with JM stamped barrel with birch stock/forend with light brown walnut type finish. The Marlin Mar-Shield finish looks okay but doesn't look like it has a good clear coat finish over stain. What product can be used to toughen the finish and make a semi to flat gloss. I need something to add to existing coat, but not sure what to use. Will tru-oil added to existing finish make it sticky or smear the finish? Anybody added any additional clear coats to a stock/forend for added protection? HELP.

I went and sold my XDS45 for asking price and then bought an Engraved Ruger SP101 2.5" barrel. Walk-arounders buying and selling to each other. People who were set-up did not have much to offer at decent prices. -
I have a blued SBH 44 Mag with hogue grips for sale with 7.5" barrel. Gun is very accurate. I also have SS SBH 44 Mag with 7.5" barrel with a fiber optic front sight, this one I'm keeping. I don't like a scoped handgun myself, just iron sights. I reload, so I use a Hornady XTP 180g bullet behind 21.6g of Accurate #9, which gives muzzle velocity of 1425fps and calulated energy of 811 ft-lbs. Trajectory is about .3" high at 25yds, 2" high at 50 yds and zero at 100 yds. Good luck with your choice.

I went and stayed about 1.5 hrs. Alot of fellows walking around with rifles/shotguns for sale. I was looking for a large pistol rug for my Super Blackhawk w/7.5" barrel, but none there. I had a few people look at my revolver but none had any money.

I bought a box of 325rds 40g Federal Automatch at Outpost Armory for $23 and at least one round per magazine was a miss fire. I shot CCI Mini-mag that same outing and no problems.
-
I have used Ruger Super BlackHawk and Super Redhawk in 44 Mag. to hunt deer. The Super Redhawk comes with rings to fit top of barrel. Super Blackhawk, I use without scope. Both had 7.5" barrel.

This smaller but decent show is this weekend. Good trading and buying from individuals and a few dealers. I'm looking for a SS Ruger in 44 mag and hoping I'll find one to trade-on or buy. I'll be the older white headed guy walking around Saturday morning with the blued Ruger Super Blackhawk with 7.5" barrel. See Ya!
