Columbia TN gun show this weekend...
lshel replied to leafinthewind's topic in Events and Gatherings
Did anyone go? How was it? -
I own Sig's , a CZ 75d Compact, several DA revolvers and several striker guns M&P9C, PM9, SA XDS 45, and HK VP9. I too like having a hammer and sear trigger combination with metal frames for I have shot these type guns since the 70's. I also like the light carry weight of the striker fired pistols that I have listed and their reliability. It just depends what fits your hand and your exposure to a cross-section of pistol design.

I've seen a mountain lion(s) on several occasions while hunting deer on Putman Mountain in Alabama in late 90's to early 2000. The only time I was bothered was when it disappeared near dusk in the area I had parked my 4 wheeler ATV. I rode out of valley with magazine loaded but non in chamber.

Shot the VP9 this morning. Excellent accuracy, trigger as good as everyone says and spent casing ejected in one area. The luminous sights were great outside. I've already ordered a spare mag form Midway, $37.99 + shipping. My Mitch Rosen Premier HK 45 OWB holster fits VP9 like a glove. Wish I knew how to post pic from cell phone of target. Looks like my M&P 9 full size will go soon.
-
My minimum has always been 3 mags per pistol or rifle. Looks like I need to buy more rifle mags AR15/AR10.
-
I just picked up a slightly used VP9 and assembled the grip to fit my hand last night. The trigger is sweet dry firing dummy rounds. I plan on shooting it sometime today. If the VP9 is as accurate as others say, I may be getting rid of my M&P 9 full size with apex duty kit.

I have a Pearce +1 grip extension on my G43 mag and no problems. Why pay more for a Taran +1 when the Pearce is less expensive.
-
I also have the M&P45. I added the Apex Duty/Carrier upgrade kit and trigger pull is excellent. I also have the M&P9 and M&P9c with same spring kits. I sold my Glock 21 Gen4 and bought the M&P45. The M&P45 fits my hand better with small backstrap and thus I shoot with more accuraqcy. The only negative is 10 rd mag in M&P45 vs 13 rd mag in G21.

Received my Ghost Edge connector this afternoon. Installed it in about 15 minutes. Trigger pin was hard to get out, Tried it left to right with no luck then switched right to left wiggling slide stop and finally pushed out. Installed trigger pin back right to left after aligning slide stop hole and others, pin pushed in easily and locked into place. Trigger pull very smooth and weight of pull much reduced. Will take for a shooting session tomorrow if not raining, my range is outside.

SPARTA GUN SHOW - WHITE COUNTY 12-19/20/2015
lshel replied to lshel's topic in Events and Gatherings
Sometimes my fingers type something other than what I meant to say. Maybe age has something to do with it. -
I'm an M&P fan also. I have the M&P9, 9C and 45 and all have small back-strap installed along with Truglo FO night sights.

SPARTA GUN SHOW - WHITE COUNTY 12-19/20/2015
lshel replied to lshel's topic in Events and Gatherings
Show was not bad. Bought a LNIB Ruger LCR 22 LR at a good price. Alot of families cruising the show. -
There is a gun show at White County Fairgrounds Agr. building in Sparta, TN. this weekend. Usually a good trade/sale/buying experience.
-
I shot some 380 acp and about one round out of every mag failed to fire. I changed to PMC 380 ammo and had no problems.
-
I just ordered the Ghost Edge Connector for the G43, and I hope it improves the trigger pull weight. Should be here by the end of the week. I'll report back after I install it.

M&P10 for me. Very accurate and no feeding/ejection problems. IMO one of the best AR10's for the money. I added a free-float handguard, CTR Magpul stock and bipod. Sweet shooter. I've had M1A's and really like their military look but the AR10 is my choice.

I like TruGlo Tritium Fiber Optic sights which give you both FO and night sights, about $79 on line thru Cheaper Than Dirt. I have on several M&P's.
-
I've had the Sig238, Sig 938 SAS, Sig P230, Kimber Solo 9, XDS 9, CW9, PM9 and CW380. The only single stacks I still have and carry are the PM9 and CW380. The Kahr's are hard to beat for size, reliability, easy of carry and smooth trigger pull.
-
I went with the M&P 45 full size. The small backstrap gives the grip a very good fit to my small hand. It was also used from a TGO member at a decent price.
-
I have a Springfield XDS 45 and it feels and shoots great and is a good CC, but want a full size 45 acp for house gun.
-
I have a Glock 21 Gen4 in 45 acp. I plan on selling/trading my Glock 21 Gen4, due to grip being too large. I want to keep a full size to mid-size 45 with smaller grip circumference than the Glock21. I do not want a 1911 SA. Looking for a DA/SA or striker fired 45acp with mag capacity 8 rds or more. The grip circumference of the M&P 9 with small back strap fits my hand good. A grip circumference of 5.5" to 5.75" seems to fit. What would you suggest in a SIG, H&K, SA, or M&P?

I have a Wasr10 and a C39, both have the shorter wooden stocks, approximately 9.5" from receiver back. I would like to add a rubber recoil pad to the stock butt to add an additional 1" to the length. I've found two on the net that are advertised to fit most AK47 stocks: UTG AK47 Combat Butt Pad and a butt pad by COI. Both add 1.0" to stock length. Those that have added a recoil pad for extra pull length, what have you installed???
-
I have several AK's now, both or stamped metal/rivet construction: Romanian Wasr 10 and Serbian N-PAP. I feel my Wasr 10 is AK47 typical design with 2 screw stock attachment, left side rail mount, threaded barrel 1x14 Lh, and chrome plated barrel. The N-PAP has a screw thru stock for attachment, like most shotguns, a chrome plated bolt and carrier, 1x14Lh threaded barrel but not chrome plated. I know the Arsenal AK47s are advertised to be one of the best, but at a much higher price $1200+. I was wondering how the CAI C39V2 compares in attributes at a price $700-$800. I see in literature and other forums that the CAI C39V2 has a milled receiver, 2 screw stock attachment, chrome plated barrel threaded 1x14 Lh, but no left side rail. This AK47 is advertised as completely made in USA. Most literature says this AK47 is more accurate with a butter smooth bolt/carrier and a improved trigger. Those that own or have shot the C39V2, what is your opinion of this carbine????
-
I've had both and much prefer the SW M&P grip and trigger. I added the apex trigger to both my full size and compact M&P's. The Glock trigger just made my trigger finger sore with prolong shooting. Try both and choice the one you shoot the best.

Sparta Gun show was yesterday and today. I went yesterday and picked-up a LNIB used LCR 38 Spec P+ and a couple of AK47 Tapco mags. One dealer with AK47 surplus parts. Several dealers with ammo. Prices were high on used guns but prices could be negotiate-down. New gun prices were in-line with most retailers.
