RELOADING 308 WINCHESTER FOR BROWNING BLR
lshel replied to lshel's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
It was headspace problem. I read an article "Dealing with Headspace" by Todd Spotti. I followed his directions on setting up sizing die for my rifle. Back of sizing die 1/2 turn and size a case, try it in rifle. If doesn't chamber screw sizing die down 1/8 turn and try chambering. Keep turning sizing die down until casing chambers. I then reloading 12 LC brass with new sizer die setting and all 12 finished rounds chambered. when I get new front sight I will sight in using these rounds. Thanks for everyones input. -
RELOADING 308 WINCHESTER FOR BROWNING BLR
lshel replied to lshel's topic in Ammunition and Reloading
Thanks for all the suggestions. I checked OAL and LC reloads were at .05 longer so I seated .05 deeper on LC brass, didn't help in chambering. I'll try some of the other suggestions. I reloaded mixed brass at same time and the PMC, PPU, and Winchester would chamber while other manufacturers would not. I measured brass at base of bullet on those that chambered and those that didn't and they were very close to same measurement. I will darken the bullet and neck of those that don't chamber and try chambering again. -
MY 1970 BLR LEVER ACTION CYCLES REMINGTON 150G , WINCHESTER 150G , AND HORNADY 165G BRANDS OF NEW MANUFACTURED AMMO WITH NO PROBLEM. IT WILL ONLY CYCLE INTO CHAMBER RELOADS WITH BRASS BY PMC, PPU, WINCHESTER . OTHER BRANDS LC, R-P, AND FC THE ACTION WILL NOT CLOSE ALL THE WAY AND ALLOW LEVER ACTION LATCH TO CLOSE. HAS ANYONE ELSE EXPERENCED THIS PROBLEM IN A BLR. CAN'T FIGURE OUT WHY WHEN RELOADS ARE SIZED, SAME BULLETS, AND OAL BUT MIXED BRASS WHEN RELOADED. THESE FUNCTION OKAY IN RUGER GUNSITE SCOUT 308 BOLT ACTION. HELP WITH ANY SUGGESTIONS. THANKS

VORTEX CROSSFIRE II ON SOCOM 16- SHOOTS HIGH
lshel replied to lshel's topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
Went to Burris Signature Zee rings with off -set inserts. Put +20 MOA insert in top of front ring and -10 MOA insert in rear bottom ring. This gives me 30 MOA of raising front of scope or downward elevation adjustment. Sighted in at 100yds and was able to lower shots to center. 147 g Magtech rated at 2740 fps grouped centered, 168 g BTHP reloads at 2470 fps were 7" low but MOA ABOUT 1.5" group. Ordered a +/- 20 MOA insert to replace rear 10 MOA to get scope zero at 100 yds closer to mid overall scope adjustment for elevation. This will give me a total of 40 MOA cant of scope upward from barrel. -

HAS ANYONE TRIED PAINTING YOUR 3 DOT HANDGUN SIGHTS WITH LUMINOUS PAINT? HOW LONG DOES THE DAY GLOW LAST. MY HK 45C HAS LUMINUOUS SIGHTS AND I WANT TO ADD TO MY HK USP COMPACT. ANY SUGGESTIONS/COMMENTS. THANKS
-
I BOUGHT A USED HK 45C DA/SA V1 AND TRIGGER PULL IS HEAVY. I REPLACED MAINSPRING WHICH WAS SILVER, NO COLOR. MY USP COMPACT 45 DA/SA V1 HAD A BLUE PAINTED SPRING. I INSTALLED A 10 LB WOLFF SPRING CUT TO SAME LENGTH, 3 COILS REMOVED, AS SPRING REMOVED. TRIGGER PULL CHANGED SLIGHTLY. 10LB WOLFF SPRING IN MY USP COMPACT 45 GAVE MUCH LIGHTER TRIGGER PULL. COULD LENGTH OF SPRING BE THE PROBLEM? I DO NOT THINK SPRING I REMOVED WAS AN HK 45C SPRING. DOES ANYONE HAVE A HK 45C ORIGINAL MAINSPRING, IF SO WHAT IS THE LENGTH. LIKE TO GET TRIGGER ON HK45C TO BE SIMILAR TO MY HK USP COMPACT 45. ANY SUGGESTIONS????
-
I was looking for a used P30sk and found a P2000sk V1 which I installed a 10# mainspring. Really like the trigger and feel of this gun. It fits my hand and is less expense than the P30sk.
-
THOSE THAT HAVE OWNED BOTH COMPACT 45'S, WHICH DO YOU LIKE BEST. I KNOW THE USP COMPACT IS SMALLER THAN THE 45C. AND THE 45C HAS ADJUSTABLE BACKSTRAPS/GRIP. I ASSUME BOTH ARE ACCURATE AND PLEASURE TO SHOOT. WHAT DO YOU THINK. NEEDING INPUT TO HELP MAKE UP MY MIND.

High Standard 22's are the finess 22 target pistols around. I use to shoot one of those in indoor 22 matches in Canton Ohio in the 80's. I tried the SW Model 41 but it was not as accurate as the HS.
-
Nice choice in the VP9. I've had mine for 3 months and it's the smoothest trigger and best grouping in my handgun collection. Even getting rid of my close 2nd Walther PPQ M2 9mm. Enjoy, you want be disappointed.
-
I have TFO's on several handguns and have had no problems. I have a TFX set on a M&P 45 that looks great. I've always liked the brightness of the TruGlo sights.

With spring turkey season not far off, April 2 thru May 15, I was thinking about adding Mossy Oak Graphics Camo gun skin to my Remington 870 20 ga. magnum. Has anyone tried this or a similar product? I have viewed several application videos on internet. Any suggestions or installation comments would be appreciated.
-
I've both now and the PPQ M2 trigger is slightly better. I like the ergonomics of the VP9 better. Both guns handle well and are very accurate. The PPQ M2 requires some reaching with finger to hit mag release button. The VP9 mag release paddle on trigger guard seems easier to operate. I'll just have to shoot both alot and see which one becomes a Safe Queen.
-
The PPQ M2 has a standard button release which is reversible. This is an advantage over the HK paddle at trigger guard. I still like both. I'm a HK handgun fan. I might just have to buy both eventually and then sell some other handguns setting in safe.
-
It would be nice if both PPQ M2 and VP9 had cheaper price on mags (15rd) and if 17 rd mags were offered.
-
So for, comments on VP9 vs PPQ is about 50% for each one. I'm right back to the start, undecided.
-
I've handled and fired both guns and both have an excellent trigger and good ergonomics. I believe the PPQ trigger was slightly better. Both guns tore-up the 10-ring at 25 feet. The PPQ has a polymer front and rear sight with the rear being adjustable for windage. It took several adjustment to PPQ rear sight to move the shoots right to center on 10 ring. The VP9 has metal front and rear sights in lateral dovetail and dots are luminous. The PPQ has shorter barrel and grip length but both guns have 15 rd mags. It looks like the VP9 could have added two extra rounds and hold 17 rds based on it's extra length. The PPQ sales about $50 less than the VP9.
