  1. I'm using a MTAC with the C-Clips. As long as your belt is the correct width, I feel like they offer plenty of support. The holster is very stable. I always carry mine with my 511 belt. Basically, the bottom of the clip keeps you from pulling the holster along with the firearm when drawing. The top of the clip provides support for the holster to keep from weighing your pants down. One caveat, I seem to always carry my MTAC with jeans or cargo pants - I haven't tried it with dockers... I got my MTAC with the C-Clips so I can't compare them to the 'normal' clips. Based on the design, they should be just as stable, given that your belt is the correct width.
  2. Ramsey and Wamp should be using that analysis in their campaigns. KnoxViews lays out a very convincing argument as to why a conservative should not vote for Haslam.
  3. What timing, I was reading this thread when I got interrupted by someone at my front door trying to sell me a pest control service. I should have asked if they could prevent solicitors.
  4. I am quite certain Chief Serpas looked over my app throughly... My guess is all of the FFL C&R apps get filed in the big round filing cabinet that gets emptied every night.
  5. They do not have to approve the application. I believe it is sent to the CLEO so that he can contact the BATFE if he knows of a problem with issuing you a FFL03. In the past, some TN sheriffs have asked for a fee to approve the application. Most people keep the letter from the sheriff asking for money as proof that the sheriff received his copy. As long as the CLEO gets a copy, you've done your duty. How's that for a long answer? Cliff notes version: sheriff doesn't approve, doesn't check premises.
  6. I saw someone OC'ing on Dickerson Road last weekend. I took the scenic route up to Guns and Leather - heard they were working on 65 and I wasn't in a hurry. I got stopped at a red light and saw a guy walking down the street. He was OC'ing right next to the infamous HCP badge.
  7. I talked to James Chesser last week about 2A issues. He is definitely a 2A supporter - he believes in all the bill of rights. I'm would be very comfortable voting for him both in the primary and in the general election. I've known James for a few months and believe he would be a friend of ours in the state senate.
  8. I know Robert Schwartz and talked to him this morning about his stance on 2A issues. Bob is very conservative and has a strong business background. He wants term limits for congress, repeal of Obamacare, fixing illegal immigration, etc. As you might imagine, he is a supporter of 2A rights - he supports all of the BOR. Bob won't pick-and-choose which parts of the constitution to follow. I feel quite certain Bob won't sell us out if he gets to congress. If nothing else, he's got a cool web domain registered: www.beatcooper.com!
  9. My bad, I'm just not up to date on my 'blocky' guns.
  10. Is that the Hero-Gear exclusive Hi Point?
  11. None taken - I've been Bubba for 30+ years. Now, if you called me a yankee...
  12. Hey, wait a minute, I am one of those Bubbas! But I'm also an adult, tax paying American...
  13. Based on what the article says about his opponent, I would agree with the NRA on this one. Regardless of the R or D beside someones name, Kasich doesn't sound like a gun owners friend. He sounds a whole lot like a RINO.
  14. Discounts at Guns and Leather as a mea culpa? You are still GTG in my book. I know I have an issue with my mouth , or fingers, being faster than my brain!
  15. They do just copy your birth certificate and give it back. However, they may not take a copy with the hospital seal. I believe they require a certified copy from the state. If it doesn't have the state seal, you could have trouble getting them to accept it. On the other hand, the Certificate of Live Birth is good enough for the POTUS...
  16. I recently traded for a RIA. It shoots as well as my Springfield loaded. The Springer has a 4.25" barrel and the RIA is a 5", which accounts for some of the accuracy. For the money, its a great entry level 1911. It won't shoot like a Nighthawk but it is a good bit cheaper!
  17. Just remember, daytime TV will make you stupid! Glad to hear everything is OK. I know the family must be relieved to know you plan on being around for awhile. Enjoy the four weeks leave - work can wait. On another note, I finally got to shoot the RIA over the weekend - like most guns, its more accurate than I am. It functioned flawlessly and put holes where I told it to. I'm really impressed with it.
  18. I personally know James Chesser. He is definitely a conservative. I don't know his 2A viewpoints but I'll find out. Whoever comes out of the R primary should be a step up from Henry.
  19. I got out last night for a few minutes to see if Old Harding Road and Hwy 100 were open yet. I drove through Rolling River and down Morton Mill - just to see how Old Harding looked like by the river. I had no idea that part of Rolling River flooded. Morton Mill was an absolute mess; an entire neighborhood was flooded. I was absolutely astonished. I literally had no idea things were that bad in those areas. I never imagined Morton Mill flooding like that and I've lived in Bellevue for 16 years. What absolutely infuriated me was driving by some idiot washing his truck (and his son washing his bicycle) when 100 yards down the road people were ripping out drywall and putting all of their furniture in the front yard. I guess having a clean car is more important to some people. I'm glad to know that for every truck-washing moron, there was someone like strelcevina helping others out when they needed them.
  20. Looks like alot of Bellevue does... I also live off of Popular Creek Road. We didn't really have any damage. We were out of town this weekend and came back Sunday morning. Had to crash with friends because there was no route to get into our neighborhood. Well, without a boat... We managed to get in on Monday morning and checked out everything. All in all, my neighborhood weathered the storm very well. Sorry for your loss strelcevina. At least you got the family out. I feel so very fortunate after all this. After seeing all the destruction, I was so happy just for the wife and me to be safe.
  21. When I took my class at G&L (a few years ago), no one left until everyone finished qualifying. No certificates were signed until after the range session was complete. The class was the full 8 hours and then some.
  22. AFAIK, the serial numbered part is considered the firearm.
  23. My doctor has an office there. At least the entrance to the wing his office is in was legally posted. I haven't been there in a few months, so things may have changed.
  24. Welcome from yet another Bellevue resident. I used to work in Cool Springs and I usually shot at Owl Hollow. At $40 a year, its pretty cheap. I go to Gallatin Gun Club some to shoot - I just wish it was closer. What we need is a range in south-eastern Cheatham county!
  25. I suggest trying to sit down and just discuss things with them. You will have a difficult time finding hard data as to HCP holders preventing injuries, robberies, etc. Many of them will go unreported - and especially underreported by the media. I have always heard that a self-defense shooting is considered an intentional act. I don't think insurance companies like to pay out for intentional acts. That being said, I am not a lawyer and don't play one on TV. Make it clear to them that you would only have your weapon out in a life-or-death situation. Maybe you can convince them of a policy along the lines of "no weapons without permission from the owner". My company has a written policy along those lines. Others at the office carry and the unwritten rule with me is that I have to show off any new toys that I pick up! Best of luck with the owners.
