1. Is that worth something? LOL

At the end of the day, no matter what any of us tell you, let your money bring you happiness. What good is money if you don't have what you REALLY want.

It might be worth something to someone, somewhere. If nothing else, the safety is a piece you can bling out. Maybe use a bedazzler?

I think we should start a 1911 vs. Glock thread to see where things go  :screwy:

  2. So what's your point? Possibly that there is still one step more involved in firing a 1911 than there is to fire a Glock.

Just pointing out that there is something the WC can do that the Glock can't... I just couldn't resist stirring the pot a little.

  3. Uhh no. Not in a thousand years. I can buy three Glocks and enough components to shoot a LOT for that money. And no matter what anyone says, the ONLY thing that gun can do a Glock cannot is look pretty. Whoopedy do. When I scratch my Glock, I say one mild swear word. You drop that on the ground or roll around with it in the holster and you'll be one sick customer.

My two cents, which figuring in inflation ain't worth more than three pesos.

The 1911 can be carried cocked and locked... :stir:

  4. If you would have posted this about 2 weeks ago, I could have gotten you a smokin' deal on one. My girlfriend works for Southerland, and she gets 3 killer deals (usually about 1/2 retail) per year. Problem is, everyone hits her up within the first couple months. I'm pretty sure she's all out of discounts, but I'll ask.

The wife and I have a Southerland and love it. We picked it out of the crowd based on feel, quality, warrantee, etc. It was just a bonus that it was made in TN.

  5. I'd look for an intermediate pistol course. Many of them will focus on things such as concealed carry, drawing from concealment, and running your handgun. How to handle stoppages and reloading (the gun, not ammunition) should be covered. You will have less classroom time and more time on the range. Expect to shoot several hundred rounds of ammo.

  6. I may be wrong but I thought an individual could ship a handgun TO an FFL by USPS. I would assume Ten Ring has an FFL. Ten ring has been around for a while and a google search shows he has installed lots of safeties on Glocks. I would think he is aware of this.

An individual can't legally ship a handgun via USPS.

    From the ATF's FAQ (http://www.atf.gov/firearms/faq/unlicensed-persons.html):
Q: May a nonlicensee ship a firearm through the U.S. Postal Service?
A nonlicensee may not transfer a firearm to a non-licensed resident of another State. A nonlicensee may mail a shotgun or rifle to a resident of his or her own State or to a licensee in any State. The Postal Service recommends that long guns be sent by registered mail and that no marking of any kind which would indicate the nature of the contents be placed on the outside of any parcel containing firearms. Handguns are not mailable. A common or contract carrier must be used to ship a handgun.

    [18 U.S.C. 1715, 922(a)(3), 922(a)(5) and 922 (a)(2)(A)]

  7. you only have to ship the lower so you can send it regular mail.

The lower is, legally speaking, the handgun. I'm pretty sure all handguns have to be sent via "contract carrier" (e.g. UPS or FedEx). Ten ring's comment that it is only "gun parts" so it can be sent USPS seems like it could be very bad advice.
  8.
if you buy a gun from a dealer that is out of state, that gun must be shipped to a dealer in Tennessee before you can take it.  ffl/fed government rules.  private sales is private when it is face to face no matter where.  unless something has changed.
Face to face is only legal if both parties are residents of the same state (and the transfer must happen in the state of residence).
