I looked at AK's but decided to go for a CZ vz 58 instead. Not because I'm a CZ fanboy (although I am), but after research and reading/seeing reviews, I'm just more intrigued by a vz 58 than an AK. (That's not to say there won't be an AK in my future though.)

Yup. I've been warning people, but some just don't listen. Once you get the CZ fever, there's no turning back. (For me, that started with a stainless steel 75B. Then a RAMI 2075B. Then a 75D PCR. Then a Scorpion Evo (waiting on two stamps). Now I'm holding out for a Bren carbine in FDE (they should arrive any week now... ). And while I don't even have that one yet, I'm already eyeing a vz.58. HELP!

Sorry for my earlier terse reply. Greg Cotel has a great selection, but prices seem to be average. The Mec-Gar mags are great. I like the finish on them. Just wanted to present options (and kinda sorta say, hey for the same price you can get 19 rounds from Mec-Gar ) I recently bought three more 14 rounders for my compact, and rubber base plates for them. I bought the mags and plates from different places, but I don't think Greg Cotel was one of them. I think I found the base plates somewhere else cheaper. If you want to save a dollar, you might find deals elsewhere. Again, I think Greg's prices are just average (not a complaint), but the selection is decent. Honestly, I'm not sure if saving a single buck is worth to hassle to shop around. But I'm pleased with the Mec-Gar mags, so that's my first stop. Edit: Since I was curious myself, so I checked. I did buy the rubber base pads from CZ for $9/ea (vs Greg Cotel $8.95/ea) simply because I was going to order other stuff from CZ anyways, and was consolidation shipping costs. Can't find the invoice for the mags though, so can't say for sure where I bought them.

Not anymore. Malware is very much at home on iOS and Android. Apple laptops running OS-X also have vulnerabilities that can be exploited. You've gotta go some some lesser used OS in the market to be safer.

Uninstall/Remove Microsoft Silverlight. Make sure your Adobe Flash is up-to-date. Ditch IE and use Google Chrome or some other browser that gives you control over what plugins (like Flash) can be executed. In case of Chrome, configure it such that Flash content is not automatically executed but blocked, with you having the ability to right-click and purposefully execute it if you need it somewhere. (just choose your sites wisely) You can implement all the previous listed recommendations, but it only takes visiting a web site that includes ads from an advertising server that has been compromised, and your browser automatically executing malicious Flash content, to really ruin your day. And no, you didn't win the lottery, didn't inherited a fortune from an African prince, you're not getting sued and served via email, you didn't get a gift package with tracking info or invoice attached for stuff you didn't order, so besides not clicking on links, don't open any of these attachments. Also disable macros in your Office installation. (Regardless if it's Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, etc, or something else). Any sort of auto-execute is like running around with a finger on the trigger of your gun. Make sure you have a good backup of you computer, since Ransomware may still one day strike and encrypt your hard drive. (There's an endlessly long list of things to do that you can delve into, but Flash, Silverlight, and Office Macros are still the prevailing malware delivery mechanisms.)

I don't think it matters which you buy, or if you buy a full-size, compact or subcompact. You will likely get hooked and buy more. And then other CZ firearms. CZ's are addictive. Prepare to make room for more of them in your safe. You have been warned.

Well, you do have to worry about your holster. Make sure your holster is in good condition, especially leather ones. A worn leather holster can cause a discharge. Or this one. (Caution: A bit graphic) And it happens to police chiefs too.

Not yet. And if I did, I wouldn't tell you until mine is paid or otherwise has my name on it. A guy on czfirearms forum recently got his in FDE. Not an early dealer model but fresh from factory, so yeah, they are starting to ship. They started showing up on gunbroker too. (Edit: Whoops, threads mixed up. They started to appear in April, including some stores. The recent post of the lucky chap was the first FDE from factory) I will be visiting a couple LGS's either tomorrow or Friday. I'll post here if I see one. (I mean, if I see one left for you. )

Is it possible to mark a thread as read right from the listing of topics with new content? The old software allowed for that, and I used it all the time. (preview first and last new reply, not interested, marked thread as read).

  It all depends, but yes, it may fry it, just like it may fry other electronics. A good ole mechanical dial safe should be safe. (sorry, couldn't resist the pun).
