  1. I have a Remington 550-1 from the year I was born,1968.Pretty nice shape and shoots good.
  2. Such a simple question, yet so very hard to get an answer.
  3. It's a little far from you but Bills Outpost in Alcoa had quite a few in stock today. If you were closer I have a factory 13rd 23 that I no longer have the gun for.
  4. I picked up a P-64 a few months ago for $150 from a private seller. Was in great condition with one mag. I think he might have thought it was messed up and was trying to unload it. When I took it apart to clean and inspect I noticed the slide spring was broke. It was a $5 fix and now I have a great little shooter. Unfortunately I believe the $230 range is about the best your going to do on the online surplus houses. You can find them cheaper on GB but with all the expenses involved it puts them above that mark. I see your in Sevierville. I just left Bills Outpost in Alcoa and they had a 1976 P-64 with two mags and some holster wear for $199. Good luck in finding you one.
  5. I picked up an old Kessler Arms bolt action 12 gauge from my uncle the other day. It was manufactured in 1951. It is actually in pretty good shape. About 75%-80%. It has a two round detachable mag that operates flawlessly. Good shooter. Question is, do I need to record  something like this in my bound book?
  6. Why are you choosing not to shoot the revolver? I have heard their supposed to be in shooting condition.
  7. 1) Outlaw Josey Wales 2) Pale Rider 3) Tombstone 4) True Grit 5) Unforgiven I get my tv fix watching The Rifleman every week.
  8. I got my C&R a few days ago. My question is, on the license that came in the mail,do I go ahead and sign and date it now? When I send a copy to various companies,do I send a hard copy or can I send online? And finally,I am assuming I can cut out that little info card in the lower left corner and have it laminated, correct? Thanks.
  9. It finally came today, after waiting 6 weeks to the day. First gun on my list is a little Polish P-64.
  10. Springfield XD .40 Swiss Army Knife Gerber pocket knife Right at this moment, two pitbulls.
  11. I just used a guy up in Maryville. His name is Archie Baker. He goes by Foothills Armory. He charges $10 a transfer for rifles or hand guns. He is available after 6:00 PM till 10:00 PM. His number is 865-233-0294.
  12. I have been waiting for mine for three weeks now. Should be here any day now. I think the first gun I am going to buy is going to be the Polish P-64. Been wanting one for awhile now.
  13. I just got my Remington .22 in from MI. a few days ago. I used a FFL up in Maryville called Foothills Armory. Archie Baker the owner was a great guy to deal with. Very good communication. He called me the minute Fed-ex dropped it off. The good thing about him is he is available seven days a week up till 10:00 at night. He only charges $10 a transfer for long guns and hand guns. Just thought I would share.

    CZ P07 .40 Rocks!

Guns & Ammo had the CZ P-07 as their cover and feature story in their 2012 Annual. Read it a couple of days ago at work (I was on lunch break I tell ya). The author really put that thing through the torture test and it performed flawlessly. Might be a gun to really look into next. Nice price also.
  15. I've got a 1968 Remington 550-1. It belonged to my brother and when he was killed in a car accident they gave it to me. I have had it for over 25 years now. I have never shot it. There seems to be a problem with the sear, sear case, sear spring. All my research online seems to point to this being a problem area for these guns. Apparently when you take the sear case and spring out it allows the sear to drop a little. When you go to put the case and spring back in the spring doesn't seat right and it allows for cross threading of the case. This may be my problem, not sure.My question is, is there anyone in the Knoxville area that is remotely familiar with these rifles that could give me a hand? Not too familiar with firearm repair. Or any suggestions on a good gunsmith in the area. If it hadn't belonged to my brother I would't even bother. I have always wanted to get this gun back up and working.
  16. Very good comment, which can be applied to just more than buying and selling firearms. Good advise for any kind of trading where you don't know the other person.Don't let those dollar signs over ride your instincts.
  17. Well now I'm curious. How are they able to do it with the Taurus "Judge"? Is it the opposite? They chamber the judge in .45 so it will shoot the smaller .410 ?
  18. I saw in the paper there is supposed to be a gun show in Maryville this weekend at the National Guard Armory. Anyone know what kind of show they put on? Is it a big show or a small one? It's going to be cold tomorrow. Just wondering if it is worth going to.
  19. My first car was a '72 Toyota Celica GT . 4cl-4spd. My dad bought it for me when I was in high school for $450. I didn't even know how to drive a stick. He said it's yours take to the church parking lot down the street and learn.
  20. If you can find the right locations, vending machines can turn a nice little profit. Location is the key though. My brother several years ago had a bunch of candy machines. The problems he was running into was repairs. People trying to break into them or putting stuff other than money in them. Also,a few of the business owners saw he was making some money and asked him to pull his machines so they could put their own in.
  21. From what I was told the EBT card looks just like the cards gov't officials use. Both are gov't issued and loaded every month by the gov't. Albeit she probably wasn't a gov't official but in some other cases that might be the deal with the card.
  22. Sounds like a good move. I am born and raised in Knoxville but was about to take a job offer in Indiana about 8 yrs ago. My current job came about and I was able to stay. On a different note, I would be very open and understanding in regards to your daughter. Depending on her age it could be hard for her to understand its for the best. Good luck.
  23. What a friend of mine has been doing for a couple of years now and does fairly well is, he will buy and sell about one car a month. You will have to be a little mechanically inclined. Were not talking about beaters or high end. Those $1500 to $5000 cars. Cars that with very minimal work can usually be sold quickly for cash. Not a lot of money but he usually clears over 1k a car. Sometimes more sometimes less. It still amazes me how quick he can flip a car.Object is to have cash on hand when someone has to sell quick. I just called him and he said so far he has sold two in the last 3 weeks(income tax time) with no out of pocket expenses other than buying them he has cleared $1800. Not too bad if you ask me.
  24. I have an old 60's model Remington 550-1. I have had it for 25 years and it needs a new stock and a few small parts. I found one on Gunbroker. It says it needs work. Basically a parts rifle. It is complete therefor requiring it to ship to a FFL. My question is, is there any parts that he can remove to make it legal to ship direct to me?
  25. Again, and for the last time. Yes he gave me an instruction to aim behind the counter. When I handed my son the rifle the counter was too high for him to aim over. When I told him this and then turned him 45 degrees still towards the back of the store, Just not directly behind the salesman. Again, the salesman was fine with this. That was not the issue . Maybe I didn't convey this well enough. My fault. To say I blatantly ignored his request is greatly presumptuous on your part. So for the record, where my son was aiming was not an issue for me or the clerk. Yes you should feel invited to post in a public forum. You are correct there. It would also help if your post was helpful or informative. Or even if it were to disagree. Your reply was neither. You took the opportunity to be sarcastic and snide. You say making a the comment of "going off half cocked" is a great way to get started with only 8 posts. Well your comments on my 8th post was a fine how do you do to a newcomer also, weren't they? Read your on advice. "Treat people the way you want to be treated". No where did I claim to be gun saavy and all knowing. That's why I am here. To learn and to gain some useful knowledge. With over a 1000 posts obviously you have some experience and knowledge to offer. Why not when you read a post by a newcomer that don't sound quite right, offer some pointers and helpful tips. With that being said, no hard feelings. If your ever up this way lets get together and go shoot. I would like to have all the helpful advice I can get. Just remember at one point you were just starting out to. I am big enough to say that if my comment was unwarranted then I apologize. Shoot safe. Darrell
