  1. How do I start? I lived in a socialist country and saw how "great" that was. Check individual heath stats on people in the UK. I also got a close look at communists across the Berlin Wall, so don't bother telling me how great that system is. A lot of what 44 says about our society sounds like the old Soviet propaganda... and a lot of it is true. We're not perfect. But socialism (or communism) is not the answer. What's happening in our country today is due to the moral and ethical break-down of the INDIVIDUAL. The results in gov't only reflect that. Far too many people in our country today expect something for nothing and are no longer willing to work for what they want. Much of our debt is due to some in our gov't trying to artificially make everyone "equal". This never helps anyone, it only drags everyone down into the same hole together. What 44 failed to mention is the multitude of problems that exists in socialist/communist nations (crime, black market, mafia, crooked gov't officials, being jailed w/o recourse, "re-education" camps, ect...). Even in the workers paradise, some people are more "equal" than others (Animal Farm). I guess all I can say at the end of the day is this: Americans have never had to build a fence to keep our people in, only to keep bad people out.
  2. Locking "flag" from the internal lock on a S&W revolver?
  3. We'll be there (my son and I).
  4. I'll be there w/ my son.
  5. I was the guy shooting the wheelgun. Linoge and Tramaslave; it was nice to meet you guys and look forward to seeing you this Saturday at ORSA IDPA (if you can make it).
  6. The name of the place is Downrange (376-2851). Cost is $50 and the classes are always on a Saturday (one is held roughly every 6 weeks). If just so happens that there is a class tomorrow (11/15/08).
  7. How many times have you seen an inexperienced shooter put their support hand behind the slide of a semi-auto? Self correcting error. Making a mistake is excusable, we all do it. Blaming someone else... I don't think so. Why do so many people (who don't know nearly enough about what they're doing) insist on shooting the biggest gun, driving the fastest car, ect.? I don't get it. It reminds me of the parents who buy their 16 year old son a Mustang and then act surprised when he wraps it around a tree. Maybe I'm just getting old.
  8. Anyone got one they're willing to part with? I put this in WTB section but didn't know how many "looks" it might get there.
  9. That might make you a... what? Looks like Glocks aren't the only guns that have a "following", huh? Still pushing the typical "gun rag" facts rather than admitting that yours is just another opinion, huh? I guess the primary advantage of narcissism is never having to question yourself. Glocks work, SIGs work, HKs work (not to mention many others). Pick what you shoot best, but don't pick anything based on what anyone else uses or says. Their situation/use of the tool may differ from yours. By the way, anyone can eventually learn to shoot a gun w/ a crappy trigger reasonably well provided that he has an unlimited budget (Uncle Sam's budget) and is being paid for his time. Some folks who have benefited from this have apparently forgotten that the rest of us don't have this kind of "sponsorship". We usually don't choose to handicap ourselves in this way. We try to pick a gun that we shoot well, w/ a good trigger, and work within our own budget learning to use it as well as we can. Just another example of how one man's view of the world doesn't mean jack diddly to another man. Of course, that's just my opinion.
  10. After "pimping" the gun, you then have to charge more for it. That way, people will think it is somehow "superior", possibly even ubertacticool. Now, if only the Bulgarian seals would start using it.
  11. The XD-M is a perfect example... of "pimp my gun". Take a perfectly good, simple gun and pimp it up so more folks who talk more than shoot will buy it. That's a wonderful example. Of course, that's just my opinion... and I would never put my opinion forth as anything but an opinion, no matter how much of a ninja I thought I was.
  12. If you want to impersonate a SEAL, get a 226. If it's a cop, then get a Glock. Neither of the guns will make you a member of that profession (give a man a rope, it don't make him a cowboy). You may also find that the circumstances for which you need a gun are very different from the circumstances faced by the above mentioned professionals. Racehorses usually suck at pulling wagons and mules seldom win the Kentucky Derby. Choose a quality (meaning reliable) gun that YOU shoot well and keep your eyes and ears open. Then, you'll probably be OK. It seems that some folks want to superimpose their own experience onto other peoples' situations. Don't trust the internet ninjas, make your own choices. The time and effort you put into learning to shoot your own gun will be of much more use than a gun you bought because someone else told you it was the "best". Back to the original thread... I always carry w/ one in the chamber. If you're not comfortable w/ this, then don't do it. Either way has it's own advantages/problems. Just train according to the choice you make.
  13. If you drive like Ray Charles, what you're driving won't matter.
  14. I had a Wilson Professional. It was "purdy" but was also picky about ammo. I got rid of it. If I had to get a 1911, I would rather have one that was 50 years old and rattled. As long as it worked every time and shot to "minute of felon", I would be happy. A lot of these high dollar pistols are marketing and pandering to those who know better than the rest of us stupid field hands. Of course, that's just my opinion.
  15. Some of you 1911 guys sound a lot more rabid than any of us "crazy kool-aid drinking" Glock fans.
  16. GhostDog

    Boo Hoo

One of the drugs he takes (Topamax) has the side effect of SUPPRESSING appetite. So, how/why do you think he got so fat?
  17. Don't believe everything you're told, especially by our wonderful media. Just read an email and apparently the Germans were not all that thrilled with him (according to "Der Spiegel" magazine).
  18. I like the arched MSH on 1911s too. The Glocks point perfectly for me, I like the front sight "high". Be careful w/ 1911s though, it's a real pain to have $2000 in a gun that's not reliable (I know from personal experience).
  19. Put one of these on it (1*) and you won't be able to manufacture enough to meet the demand!
  20. If the gun-banners don't have the votes to get their way, they will try something else (witness the lawsuit attacks on gun makers during the Clinton years). They won't "deprive anyone of their rights", they'll just make it too expensive or difficult for us regular folks. You can be sure, however, that their cronies and "friends" will have access to whatever they want. This can also be applied to "socialized medicine", which is rearing it's head again. Do you think your treatment would have been as fast and as good as Ted Kennedy's was if you had "gov't health care"? Don't kid yourself.
  21. Look at the bright side. At least you didn't have a 1911 in the bag when you backed over it!
  22. How many former Glock haters become Glock lovers after shooting the guns? Glocks are extremely "shootable". The grip angle or width isn't for everyone but the guns are easy to shoot fast and accurately, as well as being as reliable or more so than anything else. What's to hate? Resistance is futile.
  23. 16 hurt but none killed... which in this case is a good thing.
  24. And always has been. He's a little man w/ big political ambitions (if you have followed anything he's said in the last 10 years, you will know what I mean). Notice that he didn't say anything until AFTER Hill/Bill was out of the race? He's so far up Clinton's butt that his feet twitch when he/she farts.
  25. But I've seen one... in a Glock 19. Shooter didn't realize it and followed up w/ a bang. It pushed both bullets out and bulged the barrel but didn't blow up the gun. A new barrel later and it (G19) was as good as new. But he was lucky, I wouldn't want to push my luck that far. Will, I think that ammo was Gold Dot but I may be mistaken.
