Question for someone who might know Yesterday, I stopped by my local gun store after work, and to my surprise they had a Sig Sauer P226 Blackwater, and it was a fresh CPO from Sig Sauer in the red cardboard box. The owner said he had just got the gun in about an hour earlier. The price, $649. I thought the price was to good to be true. The gun did not have the Blackwater grips, but had regular Sig P226 plastic grips. The gun was not a rail gun, which I thought was odd. So I passed, and came home to study. I spent probably 2-4 hours last night researching this pistol. I admit this gun was not on my radar, or on my next 5 years planned purchases, but I could not shake wanting this gun. Well, I am not a trader, but I was seriously considering trading something nice but replaceable since my funds have been stretched beyond reason this past month. Anyway, went back to the gun shop at lunch today to see if the gun had matching serial numbers, because I was thinking since it was a CPO, it may be a Sig frankenstein. As you would guess it, the gun was sold about an hour earlier. Geeze! I talked to the shop owner a little bit, he said the numbers matched, and this gun was likely one of the Blackwater School guns, and not one of the commercial guns sold to the public. That would make sense considering I could find nothing on my searches about a non-rail P226 Blackwater. So I guess this is the Sig karma that I was owed, since my last 3 pistol purchases have been Glocks! I have not bought a Sig pistol since 2012. Very sad at the moment! Does anyone know if this might be true about what the shop owner told me?

I have been fortunate, I have not sold any of my personal guns ever. I learned early in life, too many old farts said they wished they hadn't traded something away, or sold something because the funds were short. I have always purchased wisely, and none in vein. I also take the gun trace pretty seriously, and I have no control if I sold something regardless how much paperwork I have when I made the transaction. Anyway, after 35+ years of having been given my first guns as a boy, and then when old enough, buying guns for myself, you can imagine what the small little collection that I may have. I did go 10 years without buying a gun, it occurred after I sold my FFL business, totally gun burn out! Then 10 years later, talk about a pinned up demand, wow, is all I can say.

This formula has worked for us for several years: Food $1 breakfast, $3 lunch, and $5 for dinner per person per day M-F, and we bump it up $10 per person on the weekend for eating out. For the misc (paper towels, detergents, soap, personal hygiene, etc. we use $3 per person per day. My family is a family of 6, and the above works great on avg, and we squeak by! Clothes, shoes, socks, underwear, we budget $100 month total. Obviously, we don't buy clothes every month, but we place it in a misc fund for later. We use the electronic envelope system at the credit union for running our budget. We have like ~12 sub-accounts under 1 account number, and each has a budget name like: Mortgage, food/misc., utilities, auto insurance, car maintenance, Tithe, savings, vacation, Christmas, overdraft savings, regular savings, loan1, her fun money, my fun money, and we use a separate credit union and account for real savings, that way we are not tempted. So every pay check, everything is deposited into each account automatically based upon budgeted amounts. This system has worked great for us for 15+ years. Never been short! Its the Dave Ramsey approach using envelopes, but instead of cash in a real envelope, we use the credit union and these sub-accounts to run our family financial ledger. BTW the fun money accounts, we can use as we see fit without asking the other. Unfortunately, my fun money account is 100% dedicated to this maddening gun nut hobby!

I saw that several weeks ago, but I didn't think any of it was a deal when compared to other shops in the area, not to mention the internet. I believe their targeted audience are not the locals, but ones from up north or who have a little extra expendable income. I am probably not their targeted market! If so, its more of a ammo museum instead of a ammo seller. I won't buy.

If you own, you may want to be familiar with this April, 11, 2014 press release from Remington Arms regarding Model 700 and Seven with X-Mark Pro triggers manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014: http://www.remington.com/pages/news-and-resources/press-releases/2014/firearms/remington%20arms%20announces%20voluntary%20product%20recall.aspx Remington Arms Announces Voluntary Product Recall April 11, 2014 Madison, N.C. - Remington Arms Company, LLC (“Remingtonâ€) today announced a voluntary recall of Model 700â„¢ and Model Sevenâ„¢ rifles with X-Mark Pro® (“XMP®â€) triggers, manufactured from May 1, 2006 to April 9, 2014. Senior Remington engineers determined that some Model 700 and Model Seven rifles with XMP triggers could, under certain circumstances, unintentionally discharge. IN THE INTEREST OF SAFETY, THESE PRODUCTS ARE BEING RECALLED. Remington’s investigation determined that some XMP triggers might have excess bonding agent used in the assembly process, which could cause an unintentional discharge. Therefore, Remington is recalling ALL affected products to fully inspect and clean the XMP triggers with a specialized process. Remington has advised customers to immediately cease use of recalled rifles and return them to Remington free of charge. The rifles will be inspected, specialty cleaned, tested, and returned as soon as possible. Do not attempt to diagnose or repair recalled rifles. Remington established a dedicated website and toll-free hotline to help consumers determine whether their Model 700 or Model Seven rifle(s) are subject to recall: • Website: http://xmprecall.remington.com • Toll-Free Hotline: 1-800-243-9700 (Prompt #3 then Prompt #1) Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. EDT. The website and hotline provide guidance on returning recalled rifles free of charge. “Remington takes safety extremely seriously,†said Teddy Novin, Director of Public Affairs and Communications. “While we have the utmost confidence in the design of the XMP trigger, we are undertaking this recall in the interest of customer safety, to remove any potential excess bonding agent applied in the assembly process. We have established significant safety and technical resources to determine which rifles are affected and to minimize any risks. Our goal is to have every recalled firearm inspected, specialty cleaned, tested and returned as soon as possible.†“We’re putting our customers and their safety first by voluntarily recalling all potentially affected rifles. We also want to take this opportunity to remind everyone of the Ten Commandments of Firearm Safety,†Novin concluded. The Ten Commandments of Firearms Safety 1. Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction. 2. Firearms should be unloaded when not actually in use. 3. Don't rely on your gun's safety. 4. Be sure of your target and what's beyond it. 5. Use proper ammunition. 6. If your gun fails to fire when the trigger is pulled, handle with care. 7. Always wear eye and ear protection when shooting. 8. Be sure the barrel is clear of obstructions before shooting. 9. Don't alter or modify your gun and have it serviced regularly. 10. Learn the mechanical and handling characteristics of the firearm you are using. Remington is informing consumers through a broad range of communications channels, including media outreach, targeted advertising and digital media. Sig is suing the ATF over the MPX
runco replied to Chucktshoes's topic in National Firearms Act (NFA) Regulated
Sig does need some PR repair after some of the models with problems they have released in the past few years. I love my Sigs, I just seem to be not interested in any of their non classic P series guns. I really wanted the P938, but I am not rolling the dice on my life, I still may have one, but one that is used and is proven! Of the many Sigs I have, LOVE THEM ALL! -
Yep, its been discussed, but keep it coming. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75801-new-cabelas-stores/?hl=cabela

No denying the market share! Me personally, I only like the alloy Sigs or the classic P series. All the rest, are nice, but I have no desire to own. Fast forward 20 years from now, if >50% of law enforcement agencies all carry the plastic Sigs, I will re-consider my position. My favorite saying, "A fool will never change their mind, whereas a smart man will".

I read where they heard more pings today, so is this it?

I have about 5000 miles on my Lee Perfect Powder Measure, and just last night it started leaking in this area: I was using Accurate No 9, when it begin to leak. I guess my question is, is this just a fact of life and live with it, or should I save my pennies for something nicer, a Hornady or RCBS powder measure loaders? It just bugs me.

I will likely shop at CTD again someday, but it must be the only game in town, and no one can match their delivered price. I will go to the ends of the earth (or whatever I search on the internet, whichever is easier) to find a better deal than CTD.

I'm envious. I have owned a many guns, still do, but I still have not owned a 1911! I know I ain't right! Its on the short list!

Yes, numbers match. I was worried about that too.

I always vote with my money and not my lips. Its been long time since I purchased a gun, ammo, magazine or other firearm related item from a brick and mortar store, my recent 10 year old's 410 O/U the exception. Brick and mortars just can not compete. I don't complain, I don't bad mouth, and I don't get my panties in a knot! I admit I use brick and mortars for touch, feel, and taste! Yes, I am immoral when I shop, but hey thats the cost of doing business. :yuck:

VP Biden says any old double barrel will do! Seriously, any of the above will do. Me personally, I was sold on a Winchester 1300 Defender many years ago, that is what I have. Great gun.
