1. We agree!  I think I made my point as well.   But I do understand the thread and its purpose!  I like to stir every now and then!  :stir:
2. I have serious passion to find the best deal, probably border line mental (seriously).  I refuse to be beat.  $8 on the $100 is a win for me.
3. I would rather take that $20 and place it in a fund for the next gun purchase.  Service is over rated, and internet is your friend.
4. Thanks for the love.  Still waiting for the 1st time to have someone to fix something for me gun related!  Service, I place no value on service, from guns, cars, to appliances, and etc.  I have a tool box, work bench, and I am mechanically inclined!  Psst....I have been an avid gun collector for over 30 years and have a good little collection going!  So the various types of guns that I have and ammo that I have shot, either I have been lucky or I just might know a thing or two.  I love my money too much to give it away!
5. A man of wisdom!  Good info.  100% agree.
6. Fear of losing lgs marketing does not work on me.  I am immune!  I am willing to gamble that a few lgs will be around for some time, and if they choose to close because of their own price marketing choices, then they probably did not run a sound business to begin with!  I am willing to bet another lgs or a dude with a FFL will pop up somewhere if they close!  Anyway I probably don't fit their targeted market anyway.  I know how to find deals, and I know when & how to walk like always do!      Patience and due diligence goes along way.
7.  I do each and every time..............only when I need a FFL transfer!
8. See I am from a different school of thought too.  I have been burned too many times before I learned this lesson 20 years ago.  I do not trust anyone, anyone when it comes to my money.  I am very suspicious of every purchase say $100 or more.  From a buying a new gun, used gun, new car, boat, dishwasher, stove, lawnmower, etc.  I look over each one carefully, do my homework, and ask the questions, then negotiate on my perception.  Businesses basic business model is to buy inventory, mark the inventory up, hold inventory, and sell inventory to make a profit.  How they sell the inventory can be of course come in many ways and makes certain businesses more attractive to some than others.  You may call it getting screwed, to someone else it may be called simply closing the deal.  If the buyer is unaware, then no harm, and if the buyer becomes upset afterwards, nothing illegal occurred.  Some businesses prey on 1 time buyers, and don't care if you come back or not, while other businesses want that repeat business or sell it like they do.   I suspect a little noise from one dissatisfied customer won't do much, other than make the dissatisfied customer sleep better.   Like in my comparison to buying a new car, there are many new car dealers that would sell that car to you with 50 miles on the odometer as a new car at new car pricing without blinking an eye, but I am sure there are some (few) that would overly discount it w/o you having to ask for it!  One more point and I am done, don't confuse a bad apple to a bad apple tree.  My only point to responding to this thread as a potential buyer just do your homework before forking out the dough.   Never never ever trust the fox (sales person) guarding the hen house!
9. I agree with everyone, the gun appears used.  However, I like to pose a question to the OP and others.  What is the definition of new?  Never owned by anyone?  Never fired by anyone outside the factory?    Very shiny and clean?  So how does this compare to buying a new car.  Ever bought a new car with just 0.1 miles on the odometer, or did it have 0.2 miles, 1.0 miles, 2.0 miles, 8 miles, etc.  At what point does the various test drives will cause that new car to be a used car?  Of course, we would negotiate the hound of a new car if it showed 50 miles on the odometer and dealer was trying pass it off as new car, ....its never been titled before thus it must be a new car!  We would accept that, but we would want a discount.  Unless we didn't know to look at the odometer.     My take, the gun was a demo model or was test driven a lot.  Yes, the OP should have inspected the gun more closer, and looked at the odometer.  Well since guns don't have a odometer, one has to know the tale tale signs to look for.  One would think that one does not have to do this at a business that is selling new guns, but business is business!  I believe in this case the seller gets a point, and the buyer gets no points in the due diligence or art of selling and buying, so the score is 1-0.  Chalk this up as a lessons learned, and take the lesson of impulse buying vs. buying at Academy to heart.  Business is business, unless you have a defective gun or something, its highly likely nothing you can do or prove anyway.  Unless you will feel better by trying to make your point to the business, I doubt you will move the needle at all.  Suggest move on, and never shop there again.   I also suggest if the business has a facebook page, to aire your experience there!  More foot traffic will see it!
10. LOL!   Thats a good one!
11. I don't sell or trade, I take the transaction very seriously and I don't want the responsibility that goes with the transaction.
12. I separate mine.  No issues here.  I have plenty of primers for both.  Just a little annoying when priming!
13. My choices in order: >Indian Boundary in the Cherokee National Forrest. >Greenbrier Campground in Pittman Center >Then just being on the AT
14. On another forum, someone wrote they bought a Henry Golden Boy 22 for $267 or something, and has he was being walked out, he asked the manager about the clearance, and the manager said this was just for the week of fathers day, and tomorrow pricing would return to normal.  No change in gun policy.   http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/630601935/m/4110052553/p/1
15. Sure glad I found this today, because I had I have known, I would have found some lame reason to buy one. I was at the Walmart in Madisonville today, and they had virtually all of their AR15s on clearance. I am not talking a few dollars, but hundreds, and that Sig 716 that has been $1999 for the past year, was on clearance for $997. I was tempted to snag the Sig 522 for $346. But I was good and disciplined. No purchase! Not all stores are participating - Colt LE6920 Magpul Black or FDE $849, LE6920 SOCOM $997, LE6940 $997, Sig 716 (was $1999) now $997, Remington 887 tactical $267, Bushmaster $499. These were all in stock today at my Wally except the 887 tactical. Why did I pick this week for all weeks just to visit Walmart once and only today! Why didn't you alert me from TGO land!

The old days

Since we turned off satellite almost one year ago, and we don't watch much local programming other than local news and NCIS, we have amassed a good dvd collection of you guessed it older tv shows. We do watch a lot of baseball streaming through the web.
18. As a father I feel honored.  A post here about fathers day was made before 6:30am today, but I recall it was well into the afternoon last month before the 1st post about mothers day!  Seriously, I love being a dad, and I take raising 4 boys very seriously!  Everyone else have a great daddy day!
19. I find that Ollies is really just an upscale version of Big Lots, but I like it!
20. I thought the world was coming to end last year!  Only if the world knew..............I don't need these!
21. Whats worse the highway or living under O tynarry.  I would prefer the highway!
22. Don't hate me.....I thought you were going to say .....because you are beautiful!    World Cup, whats that?  I am being facetious.
23. Like I said, I am not an attorney!  I further recommend if you do this, you trust the person with your life!  Not for the faint of heart!  The risk is great, but the reward is good as well for all involved.
24. A suggestion, one can sell the house without registering the deed with a cash transaction.  The deed is a public record where as conveying the property privately is private with help of a notary.  If and when the deed needs to be registered for whatever reason, then this will be made public, and will show who is the real owner, thus protecting assets if needed.  If something was to happen while the deed was not registered to protect liability, the one on the deed may be the liable person.  I am not attorney, just have heard of this asset protection approach before in Tennessee.   There may be other risks to consider that has not been considered, what if your mother does indeed sell you the home.  Something was to happen to you, assuming you have a will, then your aires would be the owner of the home.  I hope your aires are on good terms with your mother, or your mother could be out, and she has no legal recourse.
25. I am not afraid, I carry because I can!
