1. I am not a wheel guy, but what do they say, a smart man will change his mind, but a fool never will.  Those look good!  I would like to have
2. My freezer was a waste of money, we stocked it initially, but nothing really now.  I also figured out it costs about $25 a month of elect. costs.  So unless we are saving $25 a month, or $300 a year, we are going in the hole.  Great idea initially, but not now.  Hope you are different, and keep it stocked all the time.
3. Poor, Middle, and Rich are in the eye of the beholder.  We live, we function, we do just about everything, and you know what, when I walk into Walmart for a loaf of bread, and come out $100 later with other stuff that I don't really need, I consider myself well off.  I never think about my financial social status.  But I do work, don't want a dime from any government program.
4. I really really really want this pistol, and its in my favorite caliber too. I'm in, are you? http://www.sigsauer.com/Promotions/Sweepstakes.aspx
5. Assuming you have nothing, I would buy in this order: 1.) Shotgun 2.) handgun 3.) rifle   Then, using this logic: 1.) self defense. 2.) hunting 3.) fun   The makes/models/calibers is up to you!  Buy wisely, and buy proven platforms!
6. I am very concerned about the abuse aspect.
7. Thanks for posting, very informative.  We are in a similar situation.  We are seriously considering buying a larger home, and our current home is within 5-7 years of being paid for.  Our new home would be 2 miles away.  Seriously thinking about renting our current home, but reading posts like these makes me really think what we are getting into.  Plus, wife and I, are not good at BS detection, and have soft hearts for people in serious financial troubles!
8. I would think for most handgun military contracts, the manufacturer only covers the overhead cost, and not much else, whereas the civilian business is the bread and butter in profit!  So Beretta is probably not sweating this, unless its civilian market caves, and in my view, Beretta even with its current US contract, is not a top 5 civilian preferred gun!
9. I remember the 1st walk in 1995, very nervous.  Today, 19 years later, nothing, and naked when I don't carry!
10. Here is good trail of comments on Cabelas from just a few months ago. http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/75801-new-cabelas-stores/?hl=cabelas

Not all are on the left, and not all are on the right, but unfortunately I think the majority is that way!

West TN is on the left and East TN is on the right!  If you get my drift!
14. The market can be a ditch (with a b ) to some, and windfall to others!
15. I didn't know we were playing.
16. Looking for a new book to read, anyone read Fearless: The Undaunted Courage and Ultimate Sacrifice of Navy SEAL Team SIX Operator Adam Brown  by Eric Blehm.  Looking for reviews, what did you think?  I like to read Navy Seal books.  Feeling a little patriotic due to the 4th in a few days.    http://fearlessnavyseal.com/   http://www.amazon.com/Fearless-Undaunted-Ultimate-Sacrifice-Operator-ebook/dp/B006ZAZ31U/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1404178063&sr=8-1&keywords=fearless   In my home library, I have read: Lone Survivor No Easy Day American Sniper Seal Team Six Service:  A Navy Seal at War Suffer in Silence
17. This reminds me, when I was growing up, we were really poor, I mean really poor!  One Christmas, I wanted a watch, mom and dad let me!
18. Looks that way to me
19. Funny you bring this up, I have never seen those Osprey planes before, but just last weekend seen half dozen, not in a pact, but solo about 10 min separation with same flight route. Those have a weird sound.
20. Years ago I use to be a packaging engineer, I would assume the spacing keeps a no contact packaging, good for those metal mags, otherwise I dont care.
21. I had to fly some this week, and took a couple of reading magazines along. Gun related of course. I think I read every article, and every advertisement. Maybe I have been under a rock for awhile, but speaking of advertisement, what do you think of these @ ~$22 each. Are these a genius idea? Or are these just another needless accessory? I currently keep about 10 mags loaded, and are in a cheap $2 walmart type milk crate inside the safe, but the safe is at or beyond maximum capacity. http://www.mtmcase-gard.com/products/shooting/tactical-magazine-can.php P.S. I wish we saw more of gear and accessories review from others, ammo reviews, and more gun reviews! Those are some of the main reasons I started viewing this site several years ago!
22. I can have some fun with the gun buster sign on someone I knows truck.
23. Contact Taurus, interested in their comment.
24. Seriously, I have had fun with this OP, I hope no serious offense was taken!  I know I am being very eccentric with my comments, that is my nature, especially on buying items from local vs. the best price.    Just like Walmart and big box stores destroyed small town USA mom and pops, the internet and businesses like Buds Gun Shop, GB, PSA, Optics Planet,  Ebay and Amazon are destroying whats left.  If local brick and mortar retailers do not see the tidal wave coming with internet shopping, and its double digit increase in purchases year after year, no amount of loyalty will help them survive.  GM, Chrysler and Ford once talked of loyalty, and see what happened to two of them just 5 years ago.  As a suggestion if someone is in firearms retail management or retail entrepreneurship, and wanted to survive the next 25 years, I would strongly suggest creating visions and creativity on how to use the internet to compete.  My idea to contribute:  I do think gun shops w/o indoor shooting ranges will go by the wayside in the next several years.   Too many people with guns now, and no where to shoot!  Indoor ranges is what the internet cannot compete against.  What if a local gun shop combined 6 mos of free or reduced gun range time with a purchase of a gun, what would that do to lure buyers, especially the 40% mentioned.
25. I bet your father has a little extra spending money, doesn't he?
