Fed Court Overturns "Docs vs. Glocks" Injunction
runco replied to gun sane's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
I would love for my doc to ask me this question, he will get an ear full, plus loss of business. -
First, you are probably right. However, I have first hand knowledge of companies that to the unbeknownst public appear to be the same, same cosmetics, same footprint, etc, but the actual ownership is not the same. There are licenses paid for the marketing name only, for name recognition. Sometimes we know these as franchises, sometimes they are just individual co. that paid a fee to have a certain license to market a name. What if, this is the case here? Would that change the sales tax collection? BTW OS argument may be valid as well. Until I know about the sales tax issue from their web site, then I am not concerned, and then if does happen, I will pay like I always have either involuntary or voluntary ;)

Are you assuming the business charter for Buds in TN is the same business charter for Buds in KY?
-
If I buy from Buds in KY, and they ship fro KY, do I have to pay TN taxes to them in the check out process, and if so, what is your evidence? Everyone assuming we do, have I missed something? I am citing the Amazon model? Not every purchase from Amazon gets charged TN sales tax, so why would I get charged by Buds!

I do like that, but now decisions decisions to make. I really did want this below, but I was not going to pay $39 at Northern Tool. In my older age, and excessive weight, squatting does not work any more, the balance thing and cleaning heals is a challenge. When I was in gun retail, I was amazed at how few people do their homework. Just a little due diligence goes along way. My favorite one, I need ammo for my pistol, what caliber, I don't know, its one of the smaller ones. Which one, 22LR, 25auto, 32, I don't know, but it sure does kick! Geez............Now, me on the other hand, I do a lot a homework, really too much, really excessive, compulsory really. I love to stump the salesman with technical knowledge, or just some basic info. I was actually in a gun store last week, a dealer of Sig Sauers. I was asking when were they were going to get any P320s. First the counter help had no clue what I was talking about. Then the owner, over heard the conversation, and he did know a little, but not much more, other than its a Glock copy. Not that I expect the counter help to know everything, but they need to read at least one or two gun rags a month, be up on the market (not just their store market) and maybe hang out on gun message boards a little. Do you ever wonder how the gun counter people know their stuff? Is it just regurgitation of what 10 or more people have shared with them over the past month? Is it just intelligent BS factor? Do they have personal experience from a gun range, or is it someone that reads 100s of articles, researches all the time, and just has a flare to know all there is to know. In some cases, not all, they all act like they have a Phd in guns, or could go head to head with Massad Ayoob. One more story, last week, I was at Academy in Knoxville, over heard this customer ask some questions about a few handguns in the glass, the 21 year old college student appearing counter person, talked about each gun, how it shoots, its accuracy, its recoil, and the good and the bad of each. I laughed under my breath. How does he really know this stuff? Does Academy put the hired help through training on each gun model? Do they get go to the range and shoot each one of the guns? Do they each own one these in their on personal collection. Or was this classic 101 car sales BS tactics? I think I know, don't you?

I use to sell those 30 rounder magazines and SKSs when I was in the business. These were my bread and butter. My own experience, pull the bolt back and wiggle in. Yes, you can snap out the trigger by depressing on the raised button, but you can also jiggle/wiggle push hard for the 30 rounders to work.

Do we know for certain they will charge sales tax? I know for Amazon purchases, if its not in the TN warehouse or a TN vendor, I do not get charged for Sales Tax. Just now, for a test, I purchased a gun from buds in Ky, and all the way up to the confirmation screen which is the last screen, the total charge did not include sales tax. So if they are going charge sales tax, they have not started yet.

Question, aren't they now directly behind SMKW in Sevierville.

Guess where I am going (maybe not tomorrow), but this coming week. :yum:

With the bolt pulled back, insert towards the muzzle of the gun first, that should do it.

Thanks, I will check into these.

Call me a wuss, but I am not a wheel man. I Shot a friends S&W 44 mag when I was 17, and other than the wow, it was painful. All revolvers to me are the same, nothing absorbs the recoil but your hand. Now with semis, at least there is a spring, the moving of the slide, etc. that absorbs the recoil. How much as a %, I don't know, but 10mm, 357Sig, & 40 cal in semis are very tame to some of the wheels that I shot over the years. Yes, I am a wuss.

Not trying to hijack my own thread, but I did vote to remove the judges, state supreme court level. First, my perception is, they are liberals, I don't like liberals, and if I can help remove with my vote, I will always try. Second, I do desire Tennessee to be more like Texas when it comes to death penalty cases, meaning Texas appears to be running a production line following out the execution instructions, whereas Tennessee maybe executes once or twice a decade. Why do I pay for these convicted PS to sit and rot, when a jury of their peers says they should die.

My #2 son turns 9 next week. He loves airplanes, and we have been on few flights using commercial aircraft. However, I thought about taking him on a local flight with one of those small aircraft, so he could see the surrounding area. Are there programs or other ways where someone can take a father and son on maybe an flight from a hometown airport for maybe 30 min to an hour? Not looking for volunteers, but programs. I live in Monroe County, which has a small airport in Madisonville, but what about other places. Is there such a program? Or is it truly you have to know someone willing to take you along for a joy ride?

Have you voted? Did my duty today, whats up with all of the judges, it took for ever for me to go through them. I bet there were 20! You either keep em or boot'em out! Not like other offices.
