1. From many personal experience, if the church already has a relationship of giving, you can funnel "stuff" through the church.  That way very few know, and you could be the eyes and ears for the church for other needs too.
2. Home grown ARs with a emphasis on a list of components that were purchased and installed (woo hoo).  If a comment must be made, just state:  look at me I can follow a recipe to roll my own, that is all.  No need to shine your light to the world and your gifted AR assembly abilities!  If a list must be shared, only share "the list" when you are selling or trading, so as to stand behind your build if the next owner has a problem, otherwise I don't care, and don't want to hear it!  Any one with cash or credit, access to the internet, and somewhat be mechanically inclined can do the same, what makes your special.     Just load, pull the trigger, and move on!  No lip!   Now if you are forging, machining, stamping, and other manufacturing in your home garage, and your metallurgical analysis can prove superiority performance over OEM or other after market parts, and the cost value is worth the gap in the proven superiority, then by all means broadcast loudly from the rooftops, I will listen!

Glock42

Funny this post is brought back up.  I was browsing Bills Outpost yesterday, and he is having a 5 year 10% off deal going on.  He has several of these Glock 42s at $424, so that is ~$435 OTD.  That is not too bad.  This little gun was not on the radar, but at that price and its reputation, plus nothing wrong adding a another +1 Glock to the herd, I may have to take one!
5. If reliable means:  consistently good in quality or performance; able to be trusted, and most means greatest in amount or degree, then my only answer is my Sig P220 Carry and my Glock 21!  BTW those are my only 45s.  :pleased:
6. Ask yourself, is there really a difference in today's automobile manufacturers?  If you work in the auto manufacturing industry like I do, then you know there is a wide array of difference.  If you are just a uniformed consumer under the barrage of the intended marketing spin and lure of warranties, you probably think its a bunch of hype, and probably think on the same lines is there really a difference.  The same goes with guns (ARs).  Though I do not work in the manufacturing industry of guns, I have been around guns the majority of my life, and ARs for the past 20 years, and once upon a time was in the retail business of guns, to "me", resale value and just personal experience the brand means everything to me.  If you want to do some serious homework on the question, just go trolling on AR15.com, I mean really spend some time there (not just an hour, but days), I think you will walk away with your answer.    Added some AR information from some research I did a couple of years ago, very informative:   http://forums.officer.com/t81462/   https://spreadsheets.google.com/pub?key=pwswheghNQsEuEhjFwPrgTA&single=true&gid=5&output=html

8. The coke museum across the plaza is the same, they use metal detectors.  I had to bury a pocket knife once in the mulch outside.  I was far from the hotel room and car.
9. People clean their Glocks?
10. Tapping 10 Million Tourists is apart of the visionary business model?  Seriously?  Let me see, Husband, wife and kids in Ohio are planning a family vacation to Dollywood and the Smokies.  Family makes the hotel reservations (check), pack the luggage (check), and oh almost forgot pack a hoard of pistols, and bring the AR with the new scope, don't forget the ear protection and eye protection, we plan to spend a day at Buds in Sevierville to go shooting in the nice shooting range.  Oh forget bringing any big money to buy a pistol, we are from Ohio, can't buy a pistol, that is against the Federal Law.   I don't think so.  Yes, Buds may get some foot traffic, so would a pawn shop with the word guns in neon across the street from SMKW, I am just saying what a waste of the actual business placement if the main revenue stream or a major revenue stream is that nice indoor range, it should have been placed in close proximity, i.e. <15 min, of several thousand disposable income residents, not a few hundred disposable income residents.  How many people are willing to travel hours and hours repeatedly to shoot in that range?  By the way Bass Pro sells more than just guns, and SMKW doesn't have to fill out a 4473 on most everything they sell.  Apples and oranges.
11. I did a google search of your problem.  Sure you did the same.  You are not alone with the problem, but I found no solution.
12. This sure does remind me of a movie plot, hmmm..........................Didn't Jerry get fired and tried to keep his many clients, but in the end only had one?
13. I really have thought long and hard why Buds opened a shop in that area, because the likely consumer that knows about Buds.com, is already a serious gun nut, and won't bite on the storefront guns due to the sales tax thing.  Tourists passing through Sevierville or coming out the SMKW store, likely will stumbled upon the gun store because of the word "guns" in the name, not necessarily "Buds".   Unless Buds is trying to become a destination spot which I think they are too small for that, I don't really understand their business decision to locate in that location and to have a super nice indoor range, unless this is a beta test store.  Sevierville locals and that side of Knoxville is not well known for having large populations of large disposable income (I am from Sevierville, I know).  It would have made better sense for Buds to have located next to Gander Mountain or somewhere similar to take advantage of the large disposable income in that area.  Since likely the bread and butter of Buds will be that nice shooting range, they would surely have more participation from West Knoxvillians vs. Kodak citizens.  Separately, I did read somewhere maybe in the SMKW product catalog that the owner of SMKW and the owner of Buds were best of buds (no pun intended) for a long time.  This is likely the real reason, since both stores are in close proximity of each other.
14. Folks, sometimes its just best to take the high road.  People have bad days, even BK managers, there is bigger fish to fry than worrying about an unapologetic manager at BK.  There is no excuse for the manager actions, but also two wrongs don't make a right.
15. The store in Sevierville is a seperate entity from the .com store, so the store riding the success of the of the buds.com via a franchise.  Otherwise its just another lgs with a very nice shooting range.     I did get a different statement from the phone salesperson, and I wasn't interested, just wanted to know their stance at the time, since "we" were not certain of the sales tax at the time, ~late August time frame.
16. I have a gun on layaway with them now, no sales tax and no shipping charges.  The store in Sevierville is riding the coat tails.  Good store though!
17. There are reasons some people have dedicated careers in fast food.  Nothing wrong with that, but some people are just destined.  Just saying.........
18. Not trying to be ugly, but maybe I am old school, but I thought losing ones job other than a bonafide layoff, was sort of taboo, and not to be shared?  Definitely not to be worn on ones sleeve.
19. For us the rural folks, hope no one within the post office services sneezes on the mail.  Doesn't the EV live like many hours out of the host?
20. I agree, but that is what the Buds.com person said on the phone.  Maybe it is a way for the local store to avoid any impropriety.  If they are going to go down the path of two independent legal entities, this would appear as a no issue other than paying a the FFL transfer fee + TICS.
21. I have a Colt AR15A4 on layaway right now at Buds.com.  I asked the sales tax question when I placed my order the end of August about the Sevierville store, the nice sales person at Buds.com, said there would be tax charged if I had Buds.com ship to Buds brick and mortar store in Sevierville.  I took her explanation that the Sevierville store would have to charge sales tax for a FFL transfer from Buds.com to Buds of Sevierville on the item, even though the seller or origin was Buds.com.  I though this was odd, but did not bother to ask questions, since I was set to use my local FFL < 1 mile from my house.

23. My kids are on Fall break, and I took off 3 days this week from work, so my two older boys (age 10 and 9) and I were suppose to have gone squirrel hunting and target practice yesterday (Thursday) on a my uncle's farm up in Sevier Co.   My father was under the weather, so I scrubbed the idea.  The kids were disappointed.  Then an idea popped in my head, heck, just take the boys and some guns down to the local indoor shooting range.  I shoot there often, never seen any kids, and honestly never considered taking my own there.  Its dirty, poor lighting, and sometimes busy.  Its only $5.    When we got there, no one was on the range.  :pleased:   After the boys were given a quick dos and donts on the range, and after they stopped playing with the target switch on the panel , we started off shooting an Anschutz 1450 (youth 22LR) with a 5 shot mag and with a hunting scope.  I made a competition between the three of us.  That was a blast.  Next up, they wanted to shoot some handguns, I brought a Glock 17, Sig P228 and Glock 20.  I hadn't shot the 20 in sometime, and I wanted to try some reloads that I worked up.  No the boys did not even try.  In fact, after shooting the 22LR rifle for 30 min, they were gun shy to try the 17 and 228, so I ended up shooting those, but heck, it was fun anyway.  I wished I had brought some 22LR pistols.  Then we moved on to the Colt M4.  Dang it, my Eotech batteries were dead, and I had no extras with me.  We shot a partial mag only, that was fun.  Then I had one more gun to shoot, it was 410 O/U that my oldest son had been given, so we shot that a couple of times, and this gun sure does kick harder than I expected for a 410.  So much so, my son complained in a good way, and the stories of how his gun kicked like a mule, should say kick like a goat since it was 410, were born, and I think he told 5 people later that day.    After we ran through the guns, we went back to the Anschutz and finished out another box of 50 rounds.  After we were done, I asked the boys if they had fun, and got the group "yes".  What really made my day, several hours after our trip, my oldest son asked what we were doing tomorrow, and I said I don't know why, fishing, hiking, or something, he said because I want to go back shooting, and Dad can you bring a 22LR pistol this time?  :woohoo:  So unless the wife has a plan, I am taking the boys back to the same indoor range, and we are going to shoot 22LR pistols, and I am bringing another set of 22LR rifles, with open sights!    Just like that Trace Adkins song, "She Thinks We Are Fishing", my boys think we went shooting yesterday, what really happened, the boys made great memories by spending a day with Dad, Guns, Bullets, Smoke, and little lead, what a unforgettable memory was created in their noggins!  Men spend time with your kids!!!!
