Has a small issue yesterday in Cookville!
runco replied to bersaguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Its going to get a whole lot worse. Racial tensions our high. More aggression because Obama appears to be whipping it up or a lack of action. -
Man this is weird, just last night I saw one of the same in my garage. It was making an awful loud buzzing sound around one of my lights. It was the biggest looking wasp/hornet I ever saw. Its exactly like the pictures.

Dang, thought you were talking about my 6 year old and my 9 year old, my 6 year old can hold his own against his brothers.

My inlaws built a new house 6-7 years ago, with a very nice metal roof. The bad spring storms of 2011 sent a very destructive hail storm their way. The roof still looks good at a distance, but up close and angled with the right sunlight angle, its peppered with thousands of door dings. Still functional.

I want one too, but that is a lot of clams...............Congrats!

I have never seen a posting before, but I would theorize that any church that might, would either be in a inner city, where the politics swing far left, or some weird odd never heard of theology church. Churches away from the city, their congregations are more likely to be quite proud of conceal carry with show and tell. I have already witnessed a few.

I would at least reach out. There should be some information in the legals in the paper soon if not already, watch for his name.

Hate to be Johnny Raincloud, work backwards, and not forwards. Meaning, what are you looking for in the safe, then find the safe that you want. Don't start with the price tag first. I too am in the market for my 2nd safe, and I am looking at it from this perspective: Cutting prevention, Prying prevention, Heat prevention, size, capacity, and light features.

I went with Colt as my first. No regrets.

Home Defense Shotgun - What is your take
runco replied to Pete123's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
20+ years ago, read an article either in American Rifleman or something similar that said most people when encountering a threat within the home, the adrenaline begins to flow, and a handgun is worthless outside of 3'. The article suggested that a defense shotgun was best. Ever since then I have had both quickly at my reach. As far as 00 buck, #4, slugs, and etc, reason through it on your own. As for me, I stagger 00 buck, slug, 00 buck, slug, etc. in the tube. -
I saw this posted on my facebook page moments ago, and appears legit. Its a Winchester SXP pump shotgun that when cycled will fire with or without the safety on, even without your finger in the trigger area. The video was uploaded to youtube on 4/17/15, so not sure if this is new news or old news. If you own one, be aware. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=rBX7mEBVOao&feature=share

The way I see it, NRA survives on donations, and they are the best at protecting gun owners rights due to their size and influence. I don't agree with everything the NRA does, and I am sure there are some fat cats with healthy salaries inside the NRA, but it is what it is. Now with that said, do I provide money to them or not? Its not the status, perks, hats, decals, or the magazine subscriptions, its a simple decision and math. Do I support, Yes or No, and then how much do I support. The gimmicks and marketing strategy should have nothing to do with "my" model. Later in life if I make a decision to stop supporting, I guess then I ready to throw in the towel to the left and say come and get them. Until there is another real bonafide NRA competitor, then the NRA will be my bed buddy for years to come. Finally, what is funny to me, is these lifers that feel cheated on their financial amount to support, one agreed to $1000, one agreed to $500, and some even got a "better" deal than that. How can one feel cheated supporting a non-profit? If you made the conscious decision to support to a $X amount, how was you cheated? This is not like buying a car or a life insurance. Its simple financial support of a cause. I remember just 2 years ago, wasn't some life time member ships in the $350 range, wasn't this the Ted Nugent led campaign? Was that a bargain, or another marketing campaign to get people to donate more? Again, its all about donations, some come with brighter lip stick then others. If you donate just do so without the drama or wearing it on your shoulder!

I wrangled with the cost question for 20+ years, and never did nothing. When Sandy happened, and there was no ammo to be had, I threw out the concern, and went with the model if I want to shoot, then I need the supplies, tools, and know how to reload. I dove in and spent well over $1,500 in dies, presses, tumblers, and supplies within 2-3 weeks of Sandy. Fast forward to now, I went from 0 experience to a shade tree guy with basic skills virtually over night. I can reload for all of my pistols and rifles (except 22 of course). My mileage meter says that I have reloaded ~3,000 rounds on a single press spread over many calibers and straight to necked brass. I only reload what I plan to shoot, with no extras. So reflecting, from a cost point of view: If I do not factor in my investment costs of the press, dies, tumbler or the cost the brass, and just focus on the expendable costs of the bullet and powder, it becomes very close if not slightly better than what I can pay for ammo at my locally Walmart. But I will tell you, the experience, the time, and sure focus of the mind, is very relaxing and rewarding, more than I expected, and that was not even a consideration at the time. I wished I had discovered this hobby 20 years ago, instead of considering if it saved me pennies.
