Looking for knowledge/advice/resources for 4 stroke outboards
runco replied to 10-Ring's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Welcome to the world of the bottomless money pit. With that said, you want to know about 4 strokes. 1st, if you have ever owned a gasoline combustion engine car? If so, then you are now on the same ground as your 4 stroke motor. It takes gas, it requires oil changes, it requires oil filter changes, and you still have to change the lower gear lube every now and then. You do have to change out spark plugs probably once in a lifetime setting. Just make sure the motor pees when running, and if it doesn't, water pump or a clog. Keep lots of cash on hand for all of the buggy stuff that will go bad and have to be replaced. -
The same people that brought global warming, are the same ones that are bringing this. I call BS.

Highly recommend always negotiate OTD price negotiations with the sales side. Write the check before you ever enter into the business office. Don't worry about the details in the middle of the paperwork, only concern yourself with the final number, the rest is just voodoo math anyway. Many times this has saved me money and avoidance of the dreaded sleight of hand by the business manager.

For 20+ years I did not reload due the ROI perspective. 3-5 days after Sandyhook, I threw that out the window. I want to learn and have the know how to reload if I wanted to shoot. Reflecting, very glad that I did. If you are asinine about the ROI (return on investment), then don't bother unless you shoot in the 1,000s often. However, if you want to learn the trade for performance or maybe someday it may be the only way to have ammo, then I would say step in, and learn all you can.

Zinc bullets or Zmac bullets? -
100% true, but you will probably be disappointed, but a smirk of a smile anyway. I guess I have seen it all: http://www.local8now.com/home/headlines/Parachuting-beavers-soar-in-historic-found-footage-video-336309071.html Parachuting beavers soar in historic found footage video By: CBS News, Associated Press Email Updated: Fri 11:48 AM, Oct 23, 2015 By: CBS News, Associated Press Email A beaver walks away unharmed after parachuting down from an airplane, as shown in a video produced by the Idaho Fish and Game Commission, circa 1950. / IDAHO FISH AND GAME COMMISSION (CBS/AP) -- More than half a century after a group of beavers parachuted into the Idaho backcountry, officials have uncovered footage of the quirky wildlife management moment. The Idaho Department of Fish and Game was struggling with an overpopulation of beavers in some regions in the 1940s when wildlife managers settled on a novel idea. They captured beavers and other furry rodents, packed them into special travel boxes, attached parachutes and dropped them from a plane into the Frank Church River of No Return Wilderness. Animal lovers, take heart - it appears all the beavers made it through their flying adventures unharmed. The film made around 1950 and dubbed "Fur for the Future" showed the infamous beaver drops, but it had long been lost, Boise State Public Radio reported Thursday. Fish and Game historian Sharon Clark recently uncovered the fragile film, which had been mislabeled and stored in the wrong file. It has been digitized and released on YouTube by the department and the Idaho Historical Society. The film, which runs about 14 minutes long, also shows rangers trapping and transplanting muskrats and martins. The airplane drop starts around the 8-minute, 45-second mark. Trapping and transplanting beavers still happens today - but in less dramatic fashion. "We haven't done airplane drops for 50-plus years, but it apparently worked pretty well back then to re-establish them in remote places," said Steve Nadeau, Fish and Game's statewide fur bearer manager. The agency now moves beavers to the Owyhee desert, in the state's southwest corner, to help restore vegetation stripped away by years of watershed use. Nadeau says the goal is for beavers to make ponds in the region, which can hold water year-round.

I was mesmerized in 1977 and I still am. In my 20s I read just about every book there was. I have passed the torched on to my sons who are 10 and 11, and they are very stoked about this movie. I even blew the dust off of my old Star Wars toys that I still have. We are ready.

Cancer is a dreadful disease. However, it can be blessing to give time to spend time, and to say goodbye. I lost a parent in a tragic car accident soon to be 14 years. No opportunity to say goodbye, she died on the scene. Be blessed that you had time to say goodbye. Sorry for your loss. For the ones that have parents or a parent still living, in honor of this man and his loss, just tell your parents you love them, or the next time you see them face to face, give them a special hug. I wish I could.

Does it say simply Hunter, or does it say Hunter Arms? I am assuming simply Hunter, and if so, watch this one on GB: http://www.gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.aspx?Item=516320883

So I am thinking about starting a TGO Hall of Shame
runco replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
I like the idea of minimum posts, but I would say from a business perspective, that would reduce the revenue stream, kinda of counterproductive. I say a lot of people pay, sell a gun, and are gone. For the ones that stiff you, take the high road. Or maybe take two forms of payment, both paypal and a CC? -
Update, the gun came into today to my FFL, it shipped on Friday (10/16). Barrel has some smiles, but over-all 90% gun. Very very pleased. I will post some pics in a few.

I have actually been nervous about some of my gun purchases in the past. I reckon this one did not go well, I wonder if it was a TGO'er? http://www.wbir.com/story/news/local/2015/10/19/kpd-gun-deal-leads-shooting-near-east-knoxville-park/74226698/ KPD: Gun deal leads to shooting near East Knoxville park WBIR Staff, WBIR 2:44 p.m. EDT October 19, 2015 {C} Knoxville Police say a gun deal led to a shooting in East Knoxville on Monday afternoon. (WBIR - East Knoxville) Knoxville police are investigating a shooting that happened near an East Knoxville park Monday afternoon. According to KPD, it all began when at least two men went to meet two other men to buy a gun near Morningside Park. During the meeting, the group shot at each other. Authorities found one of the men in the parking lot of a church on Dandridge Avenue. He had been shot more than one time and was taken to UT Medical Center. A second man who had been shot was later dropped off at Tennova Physicians Regional hospital. When two of the suspects fled the scene they crashed into a car. The driver of the car they hit was not injured. Police located another man on Dandridge Avenue and took him into custody for questioning.

Fisherman Killed on Percy Priest lake boat ramp!!!
runco replied to bersaguy's topic in Hunting and Fishing
Boat ramps and parking areas are scary during the week. Lots of creeps sitting in their trucks by themselves. I have had my truck tool box vandalized because they couldn't gain entry. Very sad for the gentleman. I am on guard more than most when at the boat ramp. -

I'm not a benefactor, I am here for local comrade, fellowship, sharing of info and fun. I really don't have a dog in this race, but if my opinion matters, take the high road. Move on. -

Installing Air Lift Loader Lifter 5000 on F150 without removing tires?
runco replied to macville's topic in General Chat
Trade to a F250, and never look back. If my truck squats I have to be pulling some heavy weight, I mean heavy. Also, I would be more worried about stopping power in a F150 than worried about the squat. -
The 19 was/is the most plentiful sold Gen2 out there. So if the market is saturated with them, I agree the pricing should be lower. However, I have been looking for a decent stock no gimmick untouched Gen2 Glock for a number of years (yes years), and I can find plenty in the $400 plus range, but $400 less range, is difficult. I watch Armslist, I watch GB, I watch here on TGO, and of course I watch/listen in my community. They are just not here. So in my mind, and I guess that is all that matters in this purchase, I think this is good deal. Just hope its not from the bottom of the barrel in selection, but honestly I don't care, its a Glock. Maybe in Syracuse, NY they are plentiful and well South of $400.

is it illegal to sell a gun with a non functioning safety?
runco replied to JoeJ615's topic in General Chat
I have honestly checked, and checked again the web for federal gun laws on disengaging or removing factory gun safeties, and I have not seen any that have hinted as being a law. With that said, I would find it plainly unethical to sell/trade/give the gun with a malfunctioning safety. Now selling the gun as a parts gun, is a different matter. My final :2cents: on this posting. -
Just go ahead and give it up for salvage. Runco gun salvage is a great place to start.

Received notification after 5pm yesterday (10/14/2015) that Aim Surplus has Gen2 back in stock for $359 + ~$15 shipping. I grabbed one. Better hurry if you want one: http://www.aimsurplus.com/product.aspx?groupid=5330&name=Glock+19+9mm+Gen+2+Law+Enforcement+Trade+In PS I have had the email notification from them for 3 years, this is about 5x I have received the notification, but the 1st time I placed an order with them already without being sold out.

runco replied to JoeJ615's topic in General Chat
Absolutely disagree. We agree to disagree. It does matter to some. When I was in the biz, you would not believe the 1st timers that were very concerned about the gun safety feature. Can you explain that concern to that person, and explain to that person that the safety is not a critical function.
