What happened to Southern Ohio Gun?
runco replied to Cap'n Video's topic in Curio, Relics and Black Powder
Back in my FFL days (25 years ago), SOG was one of my major suppliers. I use to buy Chinese SKS $19.99 each. One Labor Day weekend, I purchased I think 100 SKS a few days before with free shipping, sold all but a few for $39.99 that weekend. SOG was good to deal with back then. -
My take, on guns still in production or still available everywhere, I try to follow the 80% rule meaning if buying used the used "asking" price has to be <80% of what I can buy it new for. One cannot expect to get new pricing or close to it, when there is no warranty provided and there is just peace of mind of the gun ownership history when buying new, if used there is always that slight risk. Magazines, even Glock OEMs, if one is patient can be found in the $18-$20 with free shipping from internet retailers. The fun sticks can be found too relatively not much more in premium. So to summarize, a new Glock Gen IV 19 can be found <$500 (Grab a gun) plus local FFL fee and the state $10 fee. You can do the math from there.

I bought some around the $15 price range at Knife Works a few weeks ago. Have not shot any, just thought it was a good deal on CCI 1235 fps ammo.

What I am reading on Sigforum is that everyone is very pleased. http://sigforum.com/eve/forums/a/tpc/f/430601935/m/6430072234/p/1

Received my noticed it shipped yesterday, and I should have it tomorrow. Basically less than 2 weeks. I will try to shoot it this weekend. BTW, here is a good video on what Sig is actually doing to the pistol:

My favorite come back: just in case. This applies to all my tools, guns, supplies, etc. and a few wild eye ideas.

I will chime in. I am a Sig guy myself, but I own lets say well North of 5+ Glocks. They work, they are proven, and like others have said they get the job done. So do the P series Sigs, with class. However, its like taking the best looking girl to the prom, she is nice, sexy, gets all of the looks, and makes you look good and she will put out, but the ugly girl in the back may be ugly, not sexy, etc, but one thing is or sure, she most definitely will put out without fail. One more point, if I accidently dropped a Sig, I will fret if a scratch is made, but if the Glock drops, who cares. BTW, I am not talking about dropping a P320!

Got my email and shipping label. My goes tomorrow. My buddy at work registered his with Sig 2 hours before me on the opening day, and he sent his in last week. I am reading that the turn around is not 6 weeks as advertised, but like 2 weeks. We will see.

1st gun that I was given was a Winchester 37A single shot 410, I was about 8 years old, and yes I still have it, and my oldest son killed his 1st squirrel with it. The first gun I ever purchased on my own, was a Beretta 92FS, and yes I still have it too.

I am relieved I am not the only geeky person. I too have planned a vacation day for this event, I work and live in its path. However, if there is rain or heavy overcast, I plan to cancel my vacation day! BTW, I remember too reading about this 30-40+ years ago, been waiting too!

I kinda took a break from making posts over the past 1-2 mos, and the other day I peeked my head back in and made a post in the Trump Critical Mass..... thread. Was it something I said?

Here is what happened to me. I moved 2 years ago, updated my DL and permit on line. I kept the paper that showed I changed the address. A month or so later, purchased a gun at a local pawn shop. Filled out the 4473 with the correct new address, but when the clerk saw that my DL did not match, refused the sale even though I had the confirmed paper stating I had changed. So I had to go to the courthouse, and get a new DL with my new address, then went back to the pawn shop, all is good.

At first, what I thought were flashbacks with Abraham, I thought this whole season was going to be just a dream by Sasha. Bringing back Abraham and Glenn, kinda like back in the day with Dallas and Pam. Then I was so disappointed that the trash people turned!

Remember everyone, swarms are free! Look for swarms. I think my dad only purchased just a couple of times the queen and workers from the local coop. He built his empire by swarms he recovered.

My father was a big bee keeper in the late 70s, 80s and into the 90s, until the blight took them out. At his peak, I think he had over 100 stands, he was hooked up with a couple of restaurants in Pigeon Forge. Though he was from Sevier County, he kept most of bees around Jamestown in Fentress county due to the concentration of sourwood trees (best honey every). He was setup with the bigger equipment, extractor, hot knife, and his canning was absolutely beautiful. All of his canning had the beautiful comb. I was of course his second set of hands, and I learned a lot during that time frame. Its been 30 years since I worked with bees, but where I live it begs for bees. I have many sourwood trees on my property. I actually have some interest to dabble in this as a hobby, that I once disliked. When I helped my dad, it was always to help move heavy stands early early of the morning. It was always hot, and somewhere in Egypt. Then I helped to rob bees, he would do all of the hard work, but I would be just the second set of hands if needed. BTW, my dad rarely used any veil, never a suit, but he did use gloves. I have seen him stung many times, he never complained, just kept on working. OP not being critical, but when I was 10 or so, I wanted to paint some of my Dad's hives some color other than white. I remember him saying, no son, it must be white to keep the heat down in the hive. White reflects the solar heating. Example, ever felt of a white car in the summer, the temperature will be cool actually ambient temperature, however a dark color car, will be hot to the touch, same principal. In the summer, those boxes can get really hot. Though the bees will hang on the outside to stay cool, and they use their wings to cool the queen, it can lead to poor hive performance. So you might want to re-consider. They are cute though, your daughter did a good job.

I too have thought about the guns that could be close by since the story line is so close to DC. Why have they not tried Quantico or go to Newport News. I thought about the Navy ships that might be docked in Yorktown or Chesapeake Bay. I think the whole filming has been done in Georgia even though the storyline took them to Alexandria, VA. So filming shots of DC probably will not happen.

What if one of your kids took one of THESE to school . . . . ?
runco replied to ZoidMeister's topic in General Chat
I carried and traded pocket knives from 1st grade on. I remember getting in trouble for knife trading during reading in 1st grade. The teacher took up the knife until recess. Then I got it back. I also remember carrying my 12ga single shot to school in my car to go squirrel hunting after school when I was a sophomore. I never hurt no one, and no one seemed to care. -
Do you suppose the manufacturer, wholesaler and retailer are still making money, or is this just a retailer trying to move inventory? Me personally, the later. I think during this tax return season when people have extra money, we will see all types of crazy advertisements. To me the real test of the market will be this August and September. These two months have been the best for me to grab some real gun deals. Must be the slowest months in the gun industry.

I always heard for March in like a Lion out like a lamb. I hope that Lion is not too rough, and that lamb is gentle. Are you prepared for severe weather for Wednesday March 1st? Our local school system announced this afternoon they will let the kids out after 11am tomorrow due to the storms. Hope the storms are still west of our area, poor kids. Send the kids home with parents at work to embrace the tornados, severe storms, hail, wind, etc. Knoxville http://www.weather.gov/mrx/ Nashville http://www.weather.gov/ohx/
