Isn't there a phone app or some other method of when the sensors go off, it alerts you instead of paying somebody. Really, what value add is a security company.............minimum wage computer operator @ ABC security ==> uh sensor at phone number xyz is going off, let me see that is located in x county, call 911 in x county and inform them of a alarm going off. That will be $30 a month!

Sounds like the cost of impatience to me.

I was just lurking on the Shotshow.org web site, no major announcements yet. Probably won't see any until just a few days before. We do know from reading here at TGO Glock may announce those new models (optics), but from my reading nothing major (yet). Here is a link to the newsroom, and below that just the normal link to their site: http://shotshow.org/media/newsroom/ http://shotshow.org/

The director is Michael Bay. I googled his political interests, and not much there or at least public. This article is interesting: http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/news/michael-bay-talks-his-benghazi-822130 Director Michael Bay insists his upcoming Benghazi film 13 Hours not political and is not being strategically released in an election year. During a press conference at the Deauville Film Festival, Bay, who is being honored with a career tribute, was asked by The Hollywood Reporter if the film had a specific point of view. “No. No, there is no political agenda,” he said emphatically. The film is about the September 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya. Based on journalist Mitchell Zuckhoff’s book 13 Hours: A Firsthand Account of What Really Happened in Benghazi, it focuses on the security team that attempted a rescue of American ambassador Christopher Stephens. Asked how it approaches the “stand down” order that was debunked by the investigating Congressional committee, Bay said: “It does deal with the stand down order, but I show both sides of the story. I met with the CIA on this movie and I show the whole situation.” He said his approach was more thorough than what you will see on television. “You don’t hear it on the talking points on the news. This is a much more in-depth look at what’s going on inside that CIA base, and it shows it from both sides,” he said. When the trailer was released in July, people from both parties used it to score political points. Republicans touted it as supporting the “stand down” order theory that was debunked by the investigating Congressional committee, and Democrats said it was being used as a piece of propaganda by Fox News. The film stars John Krasinski, Pablo Schreiber, Toby Stephens, David Giuntoli, James Badge Dale, Max Martini and David Costabile. While there are some familiar faces amongst the cast, Krasinski is probably best known, and mostly for his comedy. Bay said an unnamed A-lister wanted to join the cast, but he went with unknowns. "A very big superstar was interested in doing this movie," he said. "I met with that person and because it’s a true story I wanted it to be really, really present for the audience, very visceral. It would be very different with a movie star." Frequent producing partner Jerry Bruckheimer advised him against the star. “He told me don’t go with the movie star. Go with people that are great actors and that have no baggage and it can be a much more effective movie," explained Bay. "I’m really glad I went with this cast." Even with his track record, when the film went over budget, he had trouble securing extra cash. “I’m someone who has made Paramount Pictures billions of dollars,” he said, noting the irony. “I had to beg for $10 million more, thoroughly beg. As they were putting my name on a street sign at Paramount Studios - I was in the executive’s office, and they were hanging my name, I guess because I’ve made them so much money - I had to beg." 13 Hours is scheduled to be released in the U.S. on Jan. 15.

Seeing Elk in west side of the smokies will make news, here is the story about the one in Cosby: http://www.local8now.com/home/headlines/Elk-may-be-seen-in-more-places-than-just--354018771.html COSBY, Tenn. (WVLT)- Growing up in Cosby, there's no shortage of wildlife for Nathan and Chase Joyce. But on Tuesday, they saw a first. "Elk ... it was big." said Nathan. Their mom spotted it about 100 yards from Highway 321. "He was right there and she (mom) just slammed her brakes," said Chase. Keeping a safe distance and making sure not to startle the 1,000 pound animal, the family snapped some photos. "I'd say he (elk) was on his way home," said Chase. He's probably right. Elk were reintroduced into the North Carolina side of Great Smoky Mountains National Park more than ten years ago. "When we reintroduced the elk to that part it was the best place for them to go the Cataloochee valley," said Brent Everitt, a ranger with GSMNP. So seeing one about 50 miles away in Cosby is something new. "They're looking for food in different areas. So, they'll move a good distance. We haven't seen that in the past so we are studying their patterns." he said. Which means they may be in other parts close to the park. "They will charge. So you want to stay close to your vehicle in case you need to get back in." Or do what the Joyce brothers did and stay in the car. They reintroduced about 25 elk to the park in 2001. Now they estimate there may be as many as 200.

VIS Model 35 failure-to-extract: ideas?

I agree magazine related. -
I once did this too, what is really crazy, use the same comparison say to food. Its unbelievable how cheap food is today when compared to 30-40 years ago and the number of man hours it takes to feed one self.

About a month ago I had to drive to Greenville, SC, and had extra time and drove through Gatlinburg and Cherokee from the Maryville area. When I got to Cherokee, there were a least 2 dozen Elk there at the Oconaluftee Visitor Center on 441 (the large field on your left as you come into civilization). Those animals are very large. About 2 months ago, 1 elk was spotted in Cosby (about 30 miles east of Gatlinburg) it made the news. If any Elk are in Gatlinburg, the local media (print and tv) would be all over it.

Everyone wants a piece of the action, Gaston! He didn't actually say it (to my knowledge), but he probably should, but he is likely to busy with his affairs and the ex! I honestly don't think no gun mfg on earth can touch his market.

Bump, just 2 more days. I promise I am not a official recruiter, but believe the NRA needs our money more than ever going into this coming election year. Picture is for motivation:

Talk about going overboard, yet another local media report: http://www.wbir.com/news/4-confirmed-cougar-sightings-in-tn-this-year/9246645 4 confirmed cougar sightings in TN this year WSMV-TV 11:41 PM. EST December 28, 2015 In 2015, there have been four confirmed sightings in Obion, Carroll and Humphreys counties. CONNECT TWEET LINKEDIN (NASHVILLE) - For about 100 years, there were no confirmed sightings of cougars in Tennessee. In 2015, there have been four confirmed sightings in Obion, Carroll and Humphreys counties. Three of those sightings came from a picture or video of the animal. The fourth came from a hair sample. The Tennessee Wildlife Resources Agency believes the species is the western cougar. They said it is now in Tennessee because it has been recolonized and has expanded its territory. It is illegal to kill a cougar in Tennessee unless your life or property are in danger. TWRA officials said they have never nor do they have plans to stock or encourage a cougar population growth in Tennessee.

Lets hope it is what 10-ring said. I once bought a Toyota Forerunner that had over heated from what the seller said. I thought maybe simple fix. After many DIY many jobs to fix, I later discovered through the process of elimination, blown head gasket & cracked head.

This is nothing more than a feel good measure or in other words look at me check mark, and its another action to divide the nation more. I personally can't see nothing new and the enforcement has no teeth.

Guilty as well. As a matter of fact had to make an emergency visit to Home Depot today in Maryville after eating lunch (absence of gall bladder syndrome). I was going to check on the toilet friends, and guess what Home Depot WIFI prohibited TGO! I almost left, but I was committed by this point.

I'll save everyone from clicking on the link: What's Next on Gun Control: Obama and the Loophole Monday, 28 Dec 2015 12:46 PM The next shoe to drop on gun control may come by mid-January, when President Barack Obama is expected to issue an executive order requiring everyone "in the business" of selling firearms to perform background checks. Wait a second, you might be saying. Doesn't federal law already oblige gun retailers to do computerized criminal checks via the Federal Bureau of Investigation's data base? Yes and no. Yes, when it comes to federally licensed dealers. But no, when you're talking about people who lack federal licenses and sell guns from their personal collections. The problem is that an awful lot of firearms are sold in the latter fashion by individuals who aren't technically gun retailers but who sell weapons at weekend gun shows or from their homes. Forthcoming research by the Harvard School of Public Health estimates that 40 percent of all gun transfers occur without background checks (that's the so-called gun show loophole). Presumably the background-check gap permits some criminals and mentally disabled people to buy guns who otherwise might be stopped. Following another a year of shooting massacres of Americans, Obama has let it be known from his holiday retreat in Hawaii, through unidentified advisers, that soon after New Years Day he plans to follow through on plans to expand the definition of who's "in the business" of selling firearms — and who's thus required to perform background checks. Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton, among others, has strongly backed this idea, and now Obama appears ready to make its implementation one of the first major acts of his final year in office. Another fan of expanded background checks: Michael Bloomberg, owner of Bloomberg LP and founder of Everytown for Gun Safety, the nation's leading nonprofit advocating tougher regulation of firearms. Bloomberg visited Obama at the White House last week to discuss gun-safety strategies. The timing of the expected Obama move on background checks guarantees it will receive a hostile reaction from gun-rights advocates, thousands of whom will gather next month in Las Vegas for the firearm industry's annual Shooting, Hunting & Outdoor Trade Show, known as SHOT. An ironic twist is that many of the attendees at SHOT each year are federally licensed bricks-and-mortar gun dealers who sometimes concede privately that they have no real problem with all gun sellers being forced to do background checks. These full-time retailers resent competition from casual unlicensed sellers at gun shows. But the National Rifle Association's orthodoxy — that any additional gun control is merely a first step toward bans and confiscation — holds sway in the firearms world, making outward expressions of support among gun sellers for Obama's proposal unlikely. While the enormous gathering in Las Vegas isn't technically an NRA event, the group's strong anti-Obama stance will almost certainly be evident there, and a fresh proposal to stiffen regulation may have the effect of pouring gasoline on a fire already burning hot. There will probably be calls to challenge Obama's authority to broaden the background check mandate without congressional involvement. Lawsuits and objections from pro-gun Republicans on Capitol Hill will likely follow, as has happened with other efforts by the administration to use executive authority in the environmental arena. Another sure thing: Texas Senator Ted Cruz and other Republican presidential candidates will condemn the Obama proposal. In other words, the Great American Gun Debate will continue in 2016. © Copyright 2015 Bloomberg News. All rights reserved.

Great times! I always wanted to fish Watauga Lake. Was first introduced to the lake back in the mid 80s while attending ETSU. If I remember correctly, you basically at the dam in the 2nd picture. I believe Watauga Dam is the only earthen dam managed by TVA.

Many reasons why fuel is so cheap right now. One is the strength of the USD. A good check on the strength is look at precious metals. Another good reason why fuel is so cheap, supply and demand. The market is over supply, with the US fracking industry. That drill baby drill really did work. However, OPEC can under cut the cost of fracking. I recollect that fracking method costs about $40-$60 barrel to produce (actual cost + investment), anything above that is profit, but any thing less is attaching dollar bills to the barrels. I think OPEC costs are around $18 barrel. So OPEC can lower the cost of crude to drive out fracking, basically the walmart method of getting rid of small town businesses. According to WSJ for Thursday, Dec. 24th: Gold $1075.80 troy ounce Oil $38.12 a barrel http://www.wsj.com/public/page/news-oil-gold-commodities.html At some point in the future, the fracking industry will have to cease until crude prices rise.

Lots of great posts! Where I live and where my mother-in-law lives (about 20 miles away), everyone must have gotten a gun. I have heard gun shots all around, not just in one direction, and not close either at my place and hers. Many many many gun shots, and semi autos. Just now which triggered this post, I heard two gun shots about 2 min apart. Either they were deer hunting, or just shooting, but it is Sunday morning 8am ish which is weird. Its great to live in the country. Wished I could have been making noise myself yesterday, but still having to do the family Christmas thing. Maybe tomorrow if its still dry and not raining!

MrsMonkey and Dolomite'sWeezy: One for the ladies
runco replied to Pete123's topic in Women's Perspectives
The best fights I recall from high school is when girls are fighting, they are just down right mean. At least when boys fights, its usually honorable and its up in on the ground wrestling with a few punches. Girls on the other hand, pull, scratch, claw, use any object that is not nailed to the wall as a tool to hit or throw, and they are usually just crazy. Sniper women, and women in the military, I would think they are special killers or capable of killing unmerciful! -
I also agree with gr8smiles (BTW, great flashlights!). What is something worth has different meanings from different perspectives, because shouldn't whats it worth be the same to everyone. The simple answer is No. I will try to explain a little better, and this is not the best example, but I think you get my drift. I have been in the market for a Colt Socom rifle for about 6-9 mos, and I am one of those eccentric folks that will not pay for an item only if its outside the market, and I don't mean on the high side of the market. Anyway, in the picture below, on the left side is recent GB Colt Socom rifles that have sold, hence the national market, it is what it is. On the right side is using Armslist from a national level of "asking" prices, due to the nature how Armslist works, one never knows what an item sold for like GB. I think Armslist reflects local markets, and people who don't really know how to price something, however it is what it is. Though not a lot of data to look at on Armslist, it does suggest that local markets for this specific item is very low and different from national markets. My only point, what something is worth means different from different perspectives that is all and finally the buyer actually sets the market price. The Signess bit me years ago, it stated in the early 90s with P229, then it grew to the P220 Carry, P226 Israeli West German service weapon, then a classic P228 West German and then I purchased a P6 West German. I have not added to the signess in a while, but the envy pressure is mounting.
