My local wally hasn't had any 223 in ages. They do keep pistol and 22 quite often, and tons and tons of shotgun ammo. Your best bet is the internet. I find this site quite helpful: http://gun-deals.com/ Its updated many times a day. Also follow the ammo link at the top of the page, and seek and you shall find.

One more way to look at this. Imagine your best friend's girl is quite hot. You are at his house, and she is there. They breakup in front of you. Here is your chance, you don't want her to lose her because you really do not know how to contact her. You are desperate to ask her out. What to do? Do you ask her out in his house in front of him? Maybe away from him, but still in his house, maybe the living room or the kitchen. Maybe outside on the porch or even in the driveway. Either way, if you ask her out on his property, that is just wrong! However, you know if you do this, and he finds out, your best friend's relationship is likely over, or never will be the same again. Who cares, shes hot, your not thinking with your head. Go get the girl. If your bf was dumb enough to let her go, you sure are not! She's Hot! Isn't this what this is about? Just change the girl to the gun, just change the motivation of the above to greed, and shazam! Proper gun etiquette or lack thereof.

I do think its improper to approach a would be seller inside or outside the gun shop. The gun store's business does not stop inside the showroom, it also includes the parking lot. The entreprenur pays a mortgage/rent, they operate with the risk/reward business plan, they have both local, state and federal licenses, and they pay taxes, wages, & other utilities. To have some individual to infringe upon their enterprise at their place of business inside or outside is just very improper and in my opinion a form of stealing to the business. Even if the would be gun seller deal falls through, it's okay to approach potential seller off site/premisis, however that may be present challenges for the fox, but that is the proper approach. Now with that said, being a former owner of gun store myself, many uninformed public gun owners believe by selling or trading to the gun store, removes the registration of the gun from them (like selling a car). This is why uninformed gun owners go the route of the lgs, vs. classifieds, buddies at work, or messageboards. Everyone should know, to make most of your item to sell, its better to sell to an individual vs. a business. Lgs are a for-profit business (ever seen a gun store email address end with .org). So lgs take/make favorable business opportunities when they can, nothing wrong with this business model. This is just normal business, buy low sell high. Just remember this, most reaonsonable gun stores make anywhere from 5%-15% markup on new firearms due to regional market conditions. For used firearms, they likely make from 30%-100% markup. The used market is where the money is made. BTW informed gun owners will sell here at TGO!

Not to high jack your thread with a religious theme, but this is fitting: Mathew 24:12: And because iniquity shall abound, the love of many shall wax cold. In another translation: Because lawlessness is increased, most people's love will grow cold. This is taken from Mathew 24, which mostly discusses the last days. I really do not know if the media is better in reporting or if lawlessness is increasing, it surely feels like the latter! Mathew 24 was written 2,000 years ago. Someone knew something. Coincidence? Vaughly written to fit anytime, I don't think so!

I cleared out Wal-Mart in Madisonville this evening of their $25.97 45 auto per 100. Noticed Fed. 9mm had gone from $11.97 to $12.97 box of 50. They had no more 100 count boxes of anything, but did have plenty boxes of 50. If anyone was looking for CCI in 22, wow they had some inventory!

So whose going, its upon us!

Gander is kinda like that eye candy stuff, looks great, but expensive or high maintenance, and available now! You love to look, you might even touch, but you know you can find it else where a whole lot cheaper.

The topic is "Handgun Out Of My Name". Unless the tracibility rules have changed since I got of the business 15 years ago, you will never remove your name from the trace until 20 years from the date of the execution of the 4473. As I recall, the trace is as follows: Gun Serial Number ==> Gun MFG ==> Whole Seller / Distributor ==> Gun Dealer (4473) ==> Original Buyer (It violates Federal Law for the Feds to have a database of gun owners). Regardless who the original buyer sells/trades to, a dealer, or individual, legal transfer or not, the original owner will always be subject to the gun trace disposition. There is no other way the trace will work. Simply trading or selling to gun dealer will not remove you from the trace. I recommend a retention of a bill of sale with the person or business name on the bill of sale who you sold/traded it to, and store this bos with your personal papers. I do recall after 20 years, the 4473 can be destroyed by the dealer, then and only then the trace will stop. Now this may have changed, like I said I have been out of the business for 15 years.

On the fourth of July, my church for a number of years has been the sponser or provider of fireworks in Vonore, for a community showing. Honestly, the fireworks show is quite good, on the lake and is very enjoyable. Leading up to the shows, my church always throws a huge event whereas they provide hot dogs and drinks to the community. Typcialy 1,000-2,000 locals attend for a congreational church of 300. This year, we had a guest speaker, Randy Kington, Marine, medically retired, from Morristown. He is a disable Vietnam Vet, paralized from the chest down. All I can say is WOW! What a 20 minute testimony about this life, the patriotism, his service, and accomplishments. I bought his book about his life, What A Life, and just finished reading it. If all could be like Mr. Randy Kington, this place would be fantastic. BTW if you are a Vietnam Vet, and have some issues from the War, after reading, I somewhat know what you might be going through, but reading it just ease 1/10th of your pain. Just wandering if any of you have read his book or know him or met him. In case he is a TGO guy, Thank You Mr. Kington for sharing your story and for your service and great scarifice, above all your testimony. Semper Fi! Here is link: http://www.randykington.com/ It does show his speaking engagements schedule. I truly encouage you to sit in. Most of his engagements are at churches, and if you are not a church going kinda of guy, still go just to listen to this fine Marine speak.

Those of you who live near the mountains are so freakin' lucky...
runco replied to TGO David's topic in General Chat
Not to take away any from any posting here, and I truly love the mountains too, probably have hiked most of the trails on the Tennessee side at one time or another, and have seen most picturesque places in person, can likely tell David where he was at when he took the pictures, other than Maui in Hawaii, there is not another place on earth I would want to live for its scenery and tranquility. I grew up in Sevier county, both sides of my families have lived in the county for what I can tell before Tennessee was a state. I use to stay with my grandparents who lived at the entrance to the Greenbrier entrace to the smokies, 10 miles east of Gatlinburb on 73 or I mean 321. I even went to Pittman Center elementary for 1 year (about 3 miles from the entrance to the Smokies). In the warm/hot months, May to September, those dang gum knats would eat you up all the time, never could stay outside long without getting eat up. You could use knat away or some type of spary, it just moves them away from your face by about a 24", they still will bunch up in a cloud, and if you are not carefull, you can feel them stick to your throat or nostrils. Due to the mountains, it rained almost daily (quick 30 min. mountain showers that pop up out of nowhere), somehow Todd Howell never mentions them or forecasts them. Going to the mountain streams to swim or trout fish was not an option, too many tourists had each outcropping claimed, and parking was a nightmare. The winters are just to dang cold due to the snow on Mount LeConte. Knoxville could be in the low 50s in January, my grandmothers place would be high 30s, with a mountain breeze that would cut you to the bone. Granny use to say there must be a foot of snow on the mountains to keep her placed chilled like an ice box. Navigating the roads just to go to the store or somewhere was a nightmare due to the many tourists. The tourism industry use to be a Memorial day to Labor day type thing, so life could be a little bit normal 9 months of the year, but that all changed with Dollywood, Winterfest, and what other fests, now the tourism industry in Sevier county is all year around. Living and growing up in sevier county has chasened me, but I guess if you visit for 5-10 days a year as a tourist or everyother year, it may seem like a real treat, a resort or just a breath taking experience, just try living there 365, its not fun. Oh by the way, there are no jobs in Sevier county, unless you wait tables, bus tables, and clean rooms, or have the last name Reagan or Ogle. I have been moved away now for 12 years, visit my family often, but I really have no regrets. I do live next to the mountains down in Monroe county. This place is very much like Sevier county with the mountains, streams, and cabins, but without any tourist and any tourist fanfare. Its the same range of mountains, just 60 miles further sounth. It has mountain peaks in the 5K feet level. Some of the best trout streams in Tennessee, and has better waterfalls than the smokies. Sometime check out the cabin rentals and vacation packages in Tellico (not tellico village), you will not be disappointed. Oh by the way, if you want a job, there is much industry and great paying jobs without bussing tables, waiting tables and cleaning rooms. Finally, if you want to go to the store, you just might make it without meeting hardly any traffic or should say hardly any cars. BTW, no Knats here! Burnt out Smokies guy. I should point out, the native sevier countians I do miss, great poeple, but not the northerns or retirees who moved to the mountainess region! Not enjoyable for me anymore. -
I still miss him. Regarding his policies and whatnot, presidents are really powerless with the approval of congress. Though presidents may have some policy making abilities through the executive branch, the president really does not have alot of power, congress does. Just think if the republicans had control of the Senate, how powerless O would be today. We were so close in 2010 of having the Senate. Remember, the Dcrats did go along with Bush back in 2001, 2002, etc. So this pinpointing Bush blaming is just an overplayed Dcrats playbook that gained traction because a immoral society does not want a moral president. If Romey is elected, and is deemed moral, the same Bush basing will happen to him. Just think the immoral president before Bush, lied to congress, betrayed his wife, and yet, was loved by society and is still cherished. I think Clinton was a very disgraceful president, and deserves alot more bashing than Bush. I believe Clinton is alot more responsbile for today's economy woes than Bush. The mortgage crisis actually was result of policy changes under Clinton, not Bush. Bad day at work, just venting! I need to go to the range really bad!!!!

You can not beat any Remington 541 series guns, especially 541THB, 541S or even the military 541x. There are always some on gb. My favorite 22s are Anschutzs, especially 54 with the heavy action.

It may be just your store or dept. manager not doing a good job. Walmart in Maryville (I believe) just last week had tons of CCI and other brands. But I have noticed shortages on 45 and 9mm at wally world. It appears they only get a few boxes in, not cases.

Just searched this forum using advanced search in the title, and I only found 2 hits for speed loaders. Both of which were for revolvers. So I thought I would post a new topic. Last gun range outing, I wore a blister in my thumb re-loading my magazines. Been on ebay and few other sites, are speed loaders worth my time and money? Are they clumsy? Are they cheaply made? Or are they rigid and excellent to use? I am a experienced shooter, but I admit I have never ever used a auto loader. This would be for Sigs P series (220, 226, 228, 229), Beretta 92, and Glocks 17, 21 & 22. Thanks for any pointers.

As a regular gun show attender, my reasons to atend are the 1/3 different people walking around, 1/3 viewing products on the tables, and 1/3 specific purpose. I really enjoy these small town gun shows mainly for different people walking around. I know the vendors are just a regurgitation of last week's big city gun show, but on a smaller scale. However, I keep my hopes up for just maybe an old grandpa that wouldn't normally travel to a gun show in Knoxville, Chattanooga, Nashville, or the Tri-Cities, just might on his way back from the local Co-Op stop by and sell that old gun that hasn't been in circulation in over 40 years, and he just wants a fair price based upon when he last looked in Gun Digest (vintage 1970s volume). At least that is what I tell myself. So far I am 0 of 100 (I think).

I am familiar with the place, not too far from where I live. I think its ~5K sq feet. Here is a link: http://www.cvent.com...90f6d825ea.aspx

I truly believe he was an excellent president and someday I want to shake his hand and tell him so. Loved his book too.

I believe if you use the auction style format for insertion and start your auction <$1 then the insertion fee is $0.10, plus any extras you might want to add. Then the final value fee is highest bid + shipping x 9%. So your item, if it sells for $15, then +$3 shipping = $18. Insertion fee $0.10 + final value price fee $1.62 = $1.72 total Ebay fee. The paypal fee I believe is 2.9% of the transaction, and in this case $0.52. Total of fees $2.14 on a $18 item, or ~12%. Bump up your shipping to off set your fees, and then you are good to go.

This is odd but I remember 25 years ago setting in my college dorm room pondering the same or similiar thought. Didn't have a gun forum to bounce my ponderment off of, but I settled on a frame of mind that I only wanted to live a happy life and just do the best that I can in my chosen career, vs. the love of money and the pursuit of wanting more. I could have moved away from East Tennessee many years ago for more money, but I didn't becuase it was never a priority. Today, I still have the same outlook on life, just be happy, and try to be the best professional that I can. My salary is ~3x what it was when I graduated college, wife and I do and buy just about everything (within reason), we live in a modest house, have modern newer cars, go on family vacations with our 3 sons, and shhh don't tell anyone, but I have amast a modest armory over the course of 30+ years of collecting guns. My life has been a blessing so far, and money and the pursuit of wanting everything has not been a priority, just a secondary accident. So if you are money hungry and want everything, you will never be satisfied, I recommend on just setting sights on living a happy life, and being the best professional in your career as you can be, and everything else will just happen, be patient. BTW living life for the Lord doesn't hurt either! I do recognize he made the difference in my life.

Four Tennessee men face charges in gun sales
runco replied to BLACKVANDRIVER's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
This is unrelated, but I worry about a elderly person in my family who is an old knife trader kinda guy. Only deals with old 22 rifles and single shot shotguns etc (no black guns, semis or pistols). He trades often or so it seems, buying, trading and selling in the local fleas and yard sales. I have got on to him many times about this practice, or my perseption. I guess its the thrill of the deal and it gives him something to do on the weekends. I told him about this Chattanooga thing, kinda fluffed it up about it was flea selling only trying to shock some reality into him. Told him it just wasn't the ATF but the IRS as well. I actually believe he might stop cold turkey. -
Four Tennessee men face charges in gun sales
runco replied to BLACKVANDRIVER's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Do you suppose ATF would have pursued these guys anyway if an officer had not been killed by one of the firearms that funneled through these crooks! I am a law abiding citizen regardless if I disapprove or approve of the law, but these guys really hurt our hobby and federal right to own guns. -
To your original post heading, this is really patience vs. $100. I admit when I really want something say a $500 type item, the decision has already been made to buy it, just a matter of the best value where to buy it. Then a peace of mind buying from a retailer, vs. buying from individuals. I would think buying from most individuals is safe, but it does carry some elevated risk vs. the retailer. So if waiting is okay by you and the risk issue is of no concern, then wait and save the $100. But if you are impatient like a kid the night before Christmas, and you don't want the elevated risk, then buy it now. Heck just don't eat out for 2 weeks and there is the $100 you would save by waiting. Just my two cents.

I know this post is several months old, but I have been on my machine now for 7 months. All I can say is WOW I sure didn't know what I had been missing, I was very skeptical at first. I am a believer now. Four things for sure has changed since I started: very restful when I awake, lost about 15 lbs without any other change (doc.thought it would help), no more acid reflux caused by negative air pressure on my stomach, and my dreams have returned. I probably have not dreamed or at least recall one in over 25 years. Now it's like vivid tv. Each night I dream multiple dreams and I tell you some of these are just better than the movies. Most are clean (wife may be reading). Sleep is actually fun and darn restful. If you are skeptical, just give it honest try.
