  1. Not so sure these are "cleaning" incidents. Maybe for media purposes, but something more sinister? Zombies taking immediate control of your hand and finger and causing intential firing. There are just not that many idiots.

    P228 vs M11-A1

I too was bitten by the P228 a few months back, I ended up buying a perfect CPO with triple serial number, West Gemern. Honestly, it is the bomb. Perfect. I do know that Widners has some used german P228 now, good price but not CPO. Regarding M11-A1, it is not a P228, its a marketed P229. You can not go wrong with either, or simply buy both.
  3. I have one, the brand is "straight", not George. The sleeves are little long. Let me know if you are interested.
  4. I don’t know about you, but I am very tired of all of this wireless stuff. For many weeks now, with our home phone, we cannot answer our phone because one of the kids has lost the wireless handset, I think it was my wife. We can hear the base ring, and the answering machine will answer, we just cannot answer. In fact just the other day, Ed McMann called, I believe he is dead, but wow that must have been $10,000,000 call, I couldn't answer it!!! Anyway, we have not owned a wired phone in probably 8 years, and the last ones we bought were cheap Wal-Mart/Kmart junk. We have young children, if one of them had to call 911, we would be in trouble. Yes, we have cell phones, smart phones, etc., but the smart phones are not so smart when the battery dies which is a daily occurrence. The kids can find games on the phones, but not the key pad to call 911. So not so smart. So this past week, I found on eBay just a simple Bell South princess phone, new in a box, probably late 80s or early 90s vintage. Yea, I could have bought a new wired phone from Wal-Mart, but I just wanted a simple reliable phone that is basically indestructible. It arrived today, and my kids didn't know what to think. What’s the wire for dad? Now I am afraid they will jerk the wire out to the wall. At least when the phone rings, I know exactly where to go in my house to answer the phone. The kids will know how to call 911 without being distracted by Angry Birds while the house burns down or dad croaks from a heart attack. The ringer is just like what I remember, just the classic sound. Remember when all phone ringers sounded the same? Not the sounds of "...I'm sexy and I know it.." BTW Have you seen on eBay prices for old used rotary and princess phones. I am talking about phones that were common in the 70s and 80s.
  5. Guns of Navrone.
  6. I have to agree with my pastor, I am absolutely not a afraid to die, its the process of dying that is frightening. My pastor has told of many many deaths he has witnesses through the years as a pastor ministering families, and I too just recently witness first hand account a slow painful death of a loved one. Hollywood has done the masses an injustice on the act of dying; it’s an experience I do not wish no one has to go through. I hope me personally I am caught up (Thess 4:17), otherwise quick, fast, and no thought time.
  7. You even forgot to sign with your signaure "-OS", wow you are losing your memoy
  8. You guys complaining about 80 to 90 days, are spoiled. Back in year 1 of Tennessee handgun permit '95 or '96, it took close to 5 months before I got mine. Relax, chill, be patient. Zombies can wait.
  9. Com'On man, Seriously
  10. Just finished reading the book by Mark Owen No Easy Day: The Firsthand Account of the Mission That Killed Osama Bin Laden. I didn't know what to expect, the media had whipped this book up quite good, stating he was a profiteer, broke laws, divulged national security secrets, and turned his back on his Seal brotherhood. Even the guys at work thought I was wrong to buy this book to support a traitor. After reading it and reflecting back, it was very interesting to read, but I have no real sense that I learned anything that I hadn't already heard in the media. I do not believe I learned any national security secrets. It was interesting to read how OBL was shot looking out a door on the 3rd floor, vs. a 40 minute firefight as I heard in the media, or how his wife shielded him. How OBL was not armed, but had a AK and a Makrov pistol close by on a shelf but not chambered, even though he had close to 15 minutes to prepare after the helo crash (what a coward). Was interesting to read how they dragged OBL's body over OBL's son's dead body, down a spiral stair case in a body bag, and then ultimately how the body was dragged out of a Toyota truck bed to flop on the concrete floor in the hanger back in Afganastan to show the General that it was OBL. I am surprised the media hasn't used this whip up disrespect to a corpse. It was very interesting to read about the helio #1 crash, the low fuel of helo #2, and the waiting Chinook that had already landed close by outside town with waiting fuel. How Pakistan scrambled 2 F16 fighter jets within minutes of the departure from the compound, but never made visual or radar contact with the 3 American helos in the area including two slow moving Chinooks. Finally, how convenient a electrical outage in the city occurred moments before the raid started and how the power came back on right before the Seals departure, hmmmm? Finally, I felt better after paying $17 from Amazon on release day when the author stated that the majority of the profits were going to be donated to the following charities: All In All The Time Foundation, The Navy Seal Foundation and Tip of the Spear Foundation.
  11. Bullseye is not centered, see!
  12. I suggest the ones that have or thinking about having a piece a paper to show a LEO what a Tennessee law is, are likely setting themselves up for an additional headache and does absolutely nothing to difuse the situation, and is more prone to agrevate the situation. Its like pouring gasoline on a fire. The logic is sound, the thought process is good, and it just sounds good rolling off your tongue, but this is one of those instances to keep your paper in the console and to say nothing unless asked a question by LEO, and try to keep it to a yes sir no sir, etc. This is similiar to what I did 25 years ago. In my late teens, I had already had a run in with the law enforecement many times mostly due to traffic offences, sound ordances, tailgating, racing, hotel pool hopping, etc. (no drugs or theivery). I purposely took Criminal Justice in college just to get a leg up on LEOs, so I could be be just as smart, arrogant, and intelligent as they are (or the ones I had been introduced to). Day 1 of the class, the instructor stated the following: When a LEO has you pulled over, he can say, he can do anything he chooses, he is trained to controll the situation, he can break the law as he chooses and you at that very moment are helpless and can do absolutely nothing about it. He can write you citations for actions you are clearly have not violated. Its his word against yours. Even if there are other LEOs present, their bond is very great, so their outstanding stance in the community (thier word) can trump yours. So he recommended to anyone in the class that was there to outsmart LEOs, don't, and to always say yes sir, no sir, and thank him for his service, even has he hands you your citation. I remember I felt like getting up at that very moment and dropping the class, but I kept the course, and afterwards till this day I have a very deep appreciation and respect for LEOs (but I couldn't do their job). Long after the class, it still didn't stop me from being pulled for many traffic violations, but I did drop the smart a$$ attitude I had before I took the class. It wasn't until I hit my 30s that I finally broke the cycle of traffic offences. Its been close to 12 years now without the blue lights on me (except an incident of a boat trailer light, but he let me go).
  13. Not mentioned, likely not a historical worthy gun, but has had a significant impact on us U.S. citizens wanting to purchase a handgun, the gun that shot President Reagan and the wake of new legistlation that followed years and decades later, i.e. Brady bill, back ground checks, etc. http://en.wikipedia....ination_attempt, basic outtake: Hinckley fired a Rohm RG-14 22 cal blue steel revolver six times in 1.7 seconds.
  14. After watching the video got me to thinking. Do you lock up your saw alls, drills, jig saws, crow bars, sledge hammers, blades, etc. at home just in case a novice thief broke in not knowing you had a safe, found the safe, but didn't have the tools to work on it? The theif can go through your tools, and use your own tools to breakin your safe with your own tools? In the video, one disturbing shot shows how a safe was cut open on the side with what appears to be from a saw all or mini torches. I do not want to aide the theives in any way by providing them my own tools to break in. Now the professional thief, I know they are prepared, just the happenstance ill prepared thief is who i am talking about?
  15. I agree about something is going to happen, think it will happen closer to the election or shortly thereafter both domestic and global scales. What if Obama loses and race riots break out all over. Then Israel does the deed in Iran. China cashes in its bonds. Russia just takes advantage of the whole situation. The world is ripe! The birthing pangs are really really close, if the earth pushes, we could see the head of the new ruler. Some of you may, I will not!
  16. Has the law changed about being legal to hand gun carry inside federal parks with a TN HCP? This happened to me back in 1999. This particular time, I was packing two weapons, a small NAA 22 revolver and a Glock 17 under my seat. I was riding one of those crotch rockets, ZX11 to be exact. I use to ride with a group of guys, 10 to 15 bikes. We were leaving Gatlinburg around 1am heading towards Sevierville after an evening of wooing women, and blah, blah, blah which was a weekly event for us. As was custom when we would depart, as soon as we entered the spur, the road between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, our 20 year old something testosterone filled bodies would begin the rite of who could ride the fastest kicked in like so many times in the past. I was always #1 or #2 by the time we reach Pigeon Forge, fun, excilerating, and very dangerous. This particular time, a National Park Ranger was hiding and caught us (he called ahead, and had PF city waiting to help block traffic in case we ran). For you who do not know, the road between Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge is actually apart of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. The officer orded me off my bike and I informed him before he could ask that I had a gun and a permit. After he secured the situation, he proceeded to give me two citations one for the obvious speeding and the intent to go armed inside the National Park. I tried to argue, and he just laughed and said my permit was good for Tennessee but not the National Park. Oh crap! $700 later with lawyer fees, and federal court, my lawyer was ultimately successful in negotiating the federal prosecutor to drop the charge. You see on this section of the highway beteen Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge, the Federal Park Service and the state of Tennessee share the road maintenance responsibility and my attorny knew that. So he argued in the hallway with the federal prosecutor that the Feds couldn't have both ways, either the State has rights or the Feds could not receive co-road maintenance. So the Feds dropped the going armed citation. However my speeding ticked stuck and at a hefty price ~$300. Needless to say I do not speed inside the Park anymore. Just curious if the handgun thing happened in 2012, would I have been okay? At least on the gun!
  17. Years ago, I use to commute to Walters State Community College in Morristown from Sevierville. Many times I had a 8am class. WSCC is also known for a great community college for law enforcement. I do not know how many times I would be running 80 mph on Interstate 40 and 81 between exits 407 and 8, and have two, three and sometimes four local law enforecement vehicles (some marked some not marked from my county/town, be loaded with 3 to 4 passengers each, running in packs, pass me like I was sitting still. They had to be in excess of 100mph. Those guys were not in uniform, no blue lights on, and then I would see the same autos in student parking at school when I arrived. I am not a LEO, never have been, do not have the ability nor tolerance of the public, have tremendous respect for, but I just wish LEO when not on duty and not in a emergency or otherwise authorized manner, adhere to the law like us citizens are suppose to. Lead by example.
  18. I really do not care much for Muslims, but in some of the Muslim countries, a thief has their hands cut off, as opposed to death. I like that. Maybe someone should invent a round that disolves in the body (no death), but then releases toxins that causes indexes or hands to dry up, fall off etc (little sadistic I know). So when a thief is stealing from me, I shoot, and then that theif will no longer steal again, but will enjoy life without hands/fingers, etc. Have you ever seen a handless person wipe their rearend? I haven't either, but I suppose it is a real chalenge or smelly or fly infested situation. Any non-thief person reading this post without hands, I am not making light of your situtuation, just thieves!
  19. I just re-read Tennessee Code Annotated, 39-17-1351, and yep not a requirement to inform. Here is the outtake from the law: (n) (1) Except as provided in subdivision (n)(2), a permit issued pursuant to this section shall be good for four (4) years and shall entitle the permit holder to carry any handgun or handguns that the permit holder legally owns or possesses. The permit holder shall have the permit in the holder's immediate possession at all times when carrying a handgun and shall display the permit on demand of a law enforcement officer.
  20. I hope this is not a goose chase. About 9 mos to 12 mos ago, I saw an advertisement in one of the gun show web sites, drove to Knoxville (no big deal, just 45 miles), and nothing. I too remember fantastic gun shows there! Atmosphere was just right! Saw my first tator gun fired in the parking lot by a vendor, cool. PVC, Hairspray and a potato, wow! I miss those.
  21. I actually thought there was a law, maybe I am wrong. I remember in my hcp class back in 1995 timeframe, the hcp instructor informed the class to inform the law officer asap during a traffic stop, to bascially have your DL and HCP permit out and verbally tell him you have a HCP and to inform him where the weapon is. I just assumed it was apart of Tennessee's HCP law. I have been pulled over many times since 1995 and have gone through a couple of sobriety check points, and I have always practiced this manner and have never had any problem. Law or not, I will still continue this practice, I think its just professional courtesy regardless of the infracture that casued the blue lights. If I was a LEO, I would want to know about the driver before the DL number tells me you are a HCP person.
  22. OUTSTANDING TRUTH!
  23. Was reading my daily dose of The Truth About Guns, and found this article. They are free, but they ask for $1 postage. This is not a bad idea. http://www.armedresponsetraining.com/ttag.html http://www.thetruthaboutguns.com/
  24. I am in my mid forties, and yes I am over weight. My doctor suggests that I probalby have had sleep apena since my mid 20s. My weight gain started then. He says that the lower oxygen in the blood during the night is causing my body to burn less calories. Thus over time, if nothing changes, i.e. no change in diet, no change in exercise, my body just isn't burning like it use to. He says he can not contribute 100% of my weight gain on this apnea, but likely contributed highly. I do know after almost a year on the machine, I have lost 15 lbs without any serious change in my diet or exercise. I do know before the machine, I can not remember when I last dreamed last, maybe 20-25 years ago. Like I posted a few months ago, I dream quite regularly now since being on the machine. This suggests that my doctor may be right about my sleep apnea started a long time ago, and got worse and the weight gain contributed to the throat restriction.
