  1. My wife use to work at a bank. Says every Monday this attactive lady would come in and deposit large sums of money, all in $2 bills. I told my wife she was a dancer, the exotic type. She asked why $2 bills, I told her it was ingenius way to get a 100% pay raise for doing the same job.  Till this day, my wife will not even touch any $2 bills anymore.
  2. I know your screen name is rightwinger, but any reference that I made to that word had nothing to do with you. Otherwise, I am confused as all get out.
  3. Update, moments ago received a phone call on the home phone (that is rare), it was state representative Jimmy Matlock.  He says he always responds via phone calls.  He agreed with my letter completely.  He also says the great giant may have been awoken.  I was very impressed!!!
  4. 25 years ago, I use to work as a small engine mechanic. There can be several reasons to cause a lock up: Engine was ran without oil, Engine was litteraly blown (hold the throttle wide open for a period of time), the spark plug was left out, and rain/mositure got into the cylinder and rust is preventing the engine to rotate, and this one, fuel was left on, fuel dripped into the cylinder, fuel leak then into the oil pan, and the next time the engine ran, the oil was so diluted, it seized the bearings when everything got hot.

    Price police??

Simply put, the BUYER determines the market.  Sellers can ask anything they want, I have absolutely nothing against any seller trying to set a market price, but the buyer determines what is a fair price at the end of day.  The buyers are what drives us cranky tight with our money people off the cliff.   Don't buy a $60 PMAG!  Hold out, be patient.  Don't be angry with the guy asking $60, be angry with the buyer that buys it!
  7. I was a little too late, arrived around 1:15pm, after waiting 45 minutes to get in, the brass was gone from David. I was able to stock up on lots and lots of primers and powders! I was able to snap these photos, first is viewing the right side of the Jacobs building, the second is the viewing of the left side of the Jacobs building a few seconds apart while I tried to park. Ended up parking bascially at the zoo, the real zoo! http:// http://

  10. December 28th, 2012, we still have a choice of where to spend our money at on a gun club/range.

  12. Once the fog of what will happen sinks in, gun retailers, wholesellers, and manufacturers will (should) ban togeather, its their business fortunes at state and livelihood. I assume they believe they will ride the wave, and if a AWB happens like 20 years ago, all will be well from their business perspective, not ideal, but tolerable. These businesses are really focused on the "now" and how to cash in. The academics of long term vision, likely has not kicked in until clear legislation is made or at least clears many committees.
  13. Welcome aboard and by all means thank you for your service!
  14. Not to belittle the number, to make a comparision to another important number or at least a remote comparision, considering the state of Tennessee has ~6,403,353 residents (2011 census data), this is 156 deaths per 1,000,000 million residents.  Now compare this information to the deaths caused by guns.  According to the CDC, in 2009 3.7 per 100,000, or 37 deaths per 1,000,000 million U.S. residents were caused by guns.  Of this, CDC says 59.8% of gun deaths are by suicide, so if we discard this portion, the result is 14 gun related deaths or homicides per 1,000,000 million U.S. residents.   Sources: http://quickfacts.census.gov/qfd/states/47000.html   http://www.cdc.gov/nchs/fastats/homicide.htm   So to recap: New Legislation for guns = 14 deaths per 1,000,000 (U.S.) residents. No new Legislation for cars = 156 deaths per 1,000,000 (TN) residents.   Little warped isn't it! Sounds like a political agenda. Death by automobile is 10x that of guns!   Disqualifer, I am not a statician, but I do know how to add 1+1=2, and make unscientific comments/discoveries.  I could have looked into car deaths on a national level, but the kids want me to play WII and I am trying to hurry.
  15. I do not understand "The government did force comment", Honda built its first manufacturing plant in the U.S. in 1982 in Marysville, OH, as a business decision, not forced by anyone, and Toyota built its first plant in the U.S. in and around 1986 or 1987 in Georgetown, KY, again not forced by anyone.  The second comment, though I truly understand your sediment, but what is the difference of GM selling out to China, and a U.S. consumer selling out to buy product from China.
  16. I read his biography, excellent individual. During Desert Storm, I use to watch his daily news briefings on CNN.
  17. Guys, its just simple supply and demand.  I didn't fully understand this concept in the 10th grade, but some 30 years later, we are living what my economics teacher talked about.  The government may have invertantly motivated demand, in reality the government has done nothing (yet), just talk so far.  The blame is on people's panic desire to own something that may or may not be available a year from now.  The supply was caught off guard, but rest assured, if the manufacturing side can ramp up more production, a flood of ARs, ammo, etc.  will hit the market, say in about 6-8 weeks.  Assuming no EO gets in the way.  So if supply can catch up to demand, we will see normal market pricing once more, and maybe if supply out paces demand, and any new gun legislation dies, then we are in for windfall of opportunity.   Just a seperate thought, I wonder what the demographics of AR15 buyer are, both pre-Sandy Hook and post.  I would think there are significant differences.
  18. I am right winger, maybe far right, but when this was annoucned in 2009 about the bailout, I was not that sore.  Now at the time I understood the bailout was a loan, so it softened my view.  Now I understand that GM and Chrysler may never fully pay it back.  It burns me somewhat.  I am from the camp that I would have preferred for GM and Chrysler to have filed chapter 13 on their own, and restructured without the taxpayer money.  However, looking back that was a very slick move by the newly elected president and team, knowing that GM & Chrysler was flushed with likely democrate voters and its union was rewarded.  It burns me, but I have deeper concerns about our government than this, and as a individual, I can do nothing.  Just my single vote, and that didn't work last month.
  19. I think the Tennessee Sales tax was updated to include services and memberships in 2007, I think its buried in Tennessee Code Annotated Section s 67-6-501.  I think, not 100% sure.
  20. Let me start off by saying I own a Ford truck, and have for the past 10 years. Best vehicle I have ever owned! My next truck will likely be a Ford. Now with that said, I work in the automotive manufacturing industry. The last 20 years for a company with ~25% Toyota ownership. So I am not your average bear when it comes to the automotive industry.   Toyota and Honda vehicles that are assembled in the U.S. have significantly more U.S. made content than any traditional Detroit 3 automobile including trucks. My current Ford truck when purchased new was assembled in Louisville, KY, but the sticker showed ~40% content being foreign parts. That was in 2002, I assume its significantly much greater today, likely more like 60%. The Toyota, Honda and Nissans are trying to localize as much as possible to the local markets, it just makes better business sense in the long run. The GM, Chrysler and yes even Ford are outsourcing as much as possible, to lower purchased content in order to off-set high assembly labor, high benefit costs, and yes some profit. It is true, all OEMs want to crack the China market. The Detroit 3 have a better shot than the Japanese, because there are still some serious deep resentment of what the Japanese did to China in WWII.   BTW Prius has been made for the China market in China since around 2005. Toyota wants to build cars/trucks in the market it sells in. One more BTW, Ford sold I think Land Rover or something like that about 6 months before the economy tanked in 2008, and was flushed with cash. Otherwise, if they had not had this false sense of securty of cash, they would have burn through it, they too would have drunk the tax payer Kool-Aid. They had been losing more cash long before GM went under, they had no choice but to chop some of its body parts (no pun intended) to stay afloat, they just got lucky by doing so about 6 months before the collapse. If you recall they did go to Washington in round 1 of the bailout request, but refrained in round 2. Remember round 1, all went by private Lear Jet, but round 2 they took a taxi or drove. Remember the PR? Just my 2 cents.
  21. On Sunday, the Sevierville Walmart had quite a bit of ammo (no 22 or 223), but did have pistol, rifle, including 7.62x39.  So if you are shopping this weekend or your significant other is shopping in Pigeon Forge, drop by.
  22. Here is the link to find your state legislators:   http://www.capitol.tn.gov/legislators/   Update, I have sent both state Senator Mike Bell and my local Representative Jimmy Matlock emails moments ago, took a whopping 8 minutes to find them, and to post my form letter that I used for the congressmen yesterday.  I will follow up with actual mailed letters tomorrow.
  23. I received two different emails from Brownells today, one included a PDF copy of the invoice, and the other was a email of a invoice, both just stating the items I ordered were back ordered and would ship as soon as it was available. No ETA.
  24. I believe OS posted this many moons ago, always works for me: http://
  25. Now that is funny!
