NRA Live Web Response to President's Inaugural Address
runco replied to runco's topic in Events and Gatherings
Whew, I was getting worried that no one saw this! Yes, it was very good. -
I have been very pleased with Dolomite's advice that I learned from this post back in December, I have followed it precisely: http://www.tngunowners.com/forums/topic/56167-good-reloading-starter-kit/ Post #5:

Knoxville Police Looking at New Pistols
runco replied to Moped's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
Signess has bittin KPD. Its about time. As a huge fan of Sigs (and actully Glocks too), this is good news, and I am sure they will be happy, happy, happy. This is surpising considering THP uses Glock 31s. I thought maybe THP may have set the mark for other dept. to follow. At minimum I would have thought if KPD like Sigs, they would have considered P229 in 357Sig. -
Sweet! What is next? My view looks like you need a tactical shotgun, and a 1911 style next.

NRA Live Web Response to President's Inaugural Address
runco posted a topic in Events and Gatherings
Just learned about this. NRA will hold a live web response tonight (1/22/2013) at 10:40pm. Here is the link: http://home.nra.org/#/nraorg -
Until December 2012, everytime I visited Walmart over the past year or so, I made it purpose to buy a box of ammo, 9mm, 45Auto, 40S&W, 223, 22LR, 12ga, etc. It was sort of punishment to me, to reduce my number of visits to Walmart. Its not uncommon for me to visit Walmart 3-4 times a week, I thought if I made it painful, like spend at least $20-$40 per visit, I would stop. Well my punishment worked, I now just visit 1 to 2 times a week. Now I am very scared I will fall off the wagon, and return to my numerous visits, and this time I have no punishment waiting. Seriously, I did buy a box each time I went, usually becuase the wife wanted me to pick up some groceries. She was fooled for awhile, until she saw that I was buying a box of ammo each time. Over time she sort of weeded me off the routine, however I did try to buy 1 box per week for close to two years. Then when I went to range, I immeidately replaced what I shot, so my collection just kept building.

On price gouging and the free market system...
runco replied to TGO David's topic in Feedback and Support
You do appear to be edgy, get some rest! I do think you (TGO David) do an excellent job, and thank you for providing this forum and keeping the atmosphere and rhetoric in check to my liking! THANK YOU! Heck someday I just might want to become a benefactor just for the heck-of-it, I just do not sell or trade or I would have already. I did order some decals though! :pleased: And I do recruit people at work to visit your forum. -
This posting has been very informative, and knowing how (anal) I am about losing rights or being forced to do something, I most definitely would walk, but I would tear up the check first! I probably also would want to see the general manager, and inform him/her about my decision and his lost sale. As I get older, I am finding that I want to talk to the management of businesses where there is a problem, preferrably upper mangement to make sure they understand their customers or potential customers problems with their business. I know the rank and file do not always push up feedback to the chain of command, I make it point to do so. In my line work, I have found that this does not always work, but I do know the key button pushers are made aware of a unfiltered complaint, what they do with it is their business, but I feel better.

I noticed my local gun shop range was eirely quiet. I admit that I am conscious of my ammo, but in reality I shouldn't be. I have at least 1000 factory rounds of all my major calibers, and then I am just beginning my adventure through reloading, and I have the supplies to reload 1000s of my favorite caliber now without ever ordering from the internet or local gun store again. I find myself wanting more? Am I sick?

I have a 9 year old, 7 year old, 4 year old and a newborn. All of my guns are secured in the main safe, but I do have two others that are in those little safes with a cable and combo lock. My kids are fully trained on how to handle a gun, I just am not of the opinion that I can trust their judgment. I know how they get each other in trouble, and there are neighbor kids here all the time, and defintely don't trust them. This is opposite of how I was raised. Like another poster, my folks (mainly dad) kept guns all around, closets, under beds, on the couters, etc. I never once touched or tried to handle without my dad present. Never thought about it, never wanted too. Just like matches, knives and other dangerous items, I was taught those were for adults only. I was likely an exception, but as a parent, after all the stories I read on the internet (I read alot of newspapers and other internet material), I just can not do as my parents did.

I don't care about the fees and what they charge, I always go to the out the door price with the salesmen before I ever make it to the business manager's office. I always do my due diligence far in advance to know what is the fair price, so no surprises. I even write the check before I go into the business managers office, it has saved me many of $$$ and no suprises.

I wonder if that was a lead story tonight on NBC?

Funny one here, I always place stuff in carts for me to easily look at later, and scour the internet for the best pricing, etc. Wifee was trying to find me something for Christmas, and stumbled across some of the items I had placed in Midway's cart. Bless her heart, she meant well, but I had no need for those items and the items that were there, were much higher than I had found somewhere else. She meant well, but didn't understand my madness. Was able to stop the order before it shipped!

I think this is a cool buy here: http://www.armslist.com/posts/901003/roanoke-virginia-rifles-for-sale-trade--colt-m4--le6940-5-56 BTW using armslist, look at all states and just type in AR 15, wow! I am upto 12 pages, and is still from just today. Everyone must be selling AR15s.

I think it is very respectful of a retailer to do this. They don't have too, and they are in the business to make money, but by invoking a purchase rule like limits when they don't have too is very respectful to the masses. THANK YOU WALMART! Now I just hope my local wally does the same.

Got family in New Market, welcome!

I read a lot message boards about guns, and related topics. However, I have not seen this one before as it came to me this morning drinking coffee: Should the gun community go on serious offence? No, not that idea! But this idea: Executive Orders are granted from a vauge interpretation of Article II, Section 1, Clause 1 of the Constitution. Should a grass roots movement begin to create a new amendment specifically defining in detail what, when and where executive orders can and should be issued? Also, maybe all EOs should have a time limit until congress can confirm through legistative process the content of a EO? I can see in a war type setting EOs could be very efficient and necessary tool, but in peace times, ALL EO should be confirmed through congress. I am not from Chicago, but from what little I know about Chicago type politics, I think fighting fire with fire is in order in this epic battle. Obtaining an amendment is a tremendous mountain to climb, but if serious traction could be obtained, this could work and protect us all in the future from all executuvive abuses that could arise, not just with our guns. I think other essentrics other than gun nuts would jump on this band wagon, i.e. pro amendment 1 people, and others. What do you think? If several are interested, then why don't we start contacting our legislators, but I don't want to be a lone wolf. So I will throw it out there.

It was long, but I think it was needed, the time does go by fast. For you senior men, go to the bathroom during the future movie previews.

I usually shoot against myself by taking 5 to 7 of my handguns to the range. My P220 is the most accurate of my pistols. I shoot against my Glocks, Beretta and othe Sigs. My Glock 17, is an honable mention #3 or #4 in my stash for accuracy.

I stopped trading (guns for guns) years ago, but I would like to be in a circle of people that I can trade odd items for firearms. I am envious! I wonder if that old trampoline is good for a Glock?
