  1. Let me give you some first hand experience on China Manufacturing.  Years ago, I use to be a direct material buyer in the automotive industry.  I was tasked to reduce cost like all buyers are.  I was directed by my manager to look at Chinese manufacturing for my particular commodity.  China's capability is great, but the cost model is what most people do not understand.  Unlike other countries, China is a communist country.  Very little enterprise is owned by individuals, but rather the government itself.  Anyway, the sales person I was working with shared with me the cost model.  Instead of preparing a quotation, he simply asked me what the purchase price needed to be, should it be 20% less, 30% less, 60% less than what I was currently paying in the States.  I asked why, he said it was customary for the government to discount the selling price for some period of time.  I took this as basically a government subsidized cost reduction.  This would hook you into their price, eroded or eliminate the former manufacturer in the States, and gradually increase your price over a course of 4-5 years.   So how can our suppliers in the states compete against this?   This taught me enough to keep working with my U.S. suppliers to find ways to lower cost.  However, this tactic will work providing my company's competitors never go to China.  Of course they will.   So will we.  It is very sad!   FYI - I call this the Apple Computer method.  The U.S. manufacturing model is to develop the item in the states, and then outsource the manufacturing to China.  As China grows into a manufacturing mecca (they are actually there already), the U.S. manufacturing is eroded and is falling behind, and never will be what it once was.  All we can do now is keep our development skills, and as long as we are a capitalist regime, the dream of becoming rich will always be there, thus driving innovation.  This innovation concept is not available in the Communist regime, very few people make it to the rich status.  No incentive, no development.
  2. Thanks, you beat me to it.
  3. I have three of the smaller sizes with the 3 digit tumbler type lock.  I have small kids, and these are great for that.  I also have them on cables, just for the quick and grab cases.  I recommend them for the kid thing and the quick smash and grab, otherwise I wouldn't recommend.

    ATV question?

    Deja vu
  9. Will somebody please buy those ARs at my local Madisonville Walmart.  They have not sold one in 2 weeks.  I want my locally Wally to replace the inventory with new inventory, maybe the cheaper Colt M4 Magpul edition for $1187.  They will not replace their inventory until it turns over.    All they have are a couple of the Bushmasters, a couple of the Colt 6940 and one Sig 716.   PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!
  10.   I was there about 2 weeks, they have a clear visible sign at the handgun counter that informs TN residents the name of the transfer shop, I don't remember the name, but I don't think its Quick Cash, but I could be mistaken.   Not sure how long it takes for them to physically transfer the gun.

    ATV question?

Your age, purpose and finally looking forward to future uses!   I graduated from a Honda 400EX about 10 years ago to a Honda Foreman 4x4, I was in mid 30s, and probably too old for the fun and speed of a 400EX, and then when I finally embraced the 4x4, I determined that I was an idiot for many years trying to hold on to the my 20s while riding the 4x2.  I love my 4x4, and it would go places that I never dreamed possible.  Then the utility purpose and the endless possibilities that you can do with one is incredible.  My recommendation go with the 4x4.  BTW it would be a great bug out vehicle too.
  12. Psychological to the enemy, no belief required by the shooter.
  13. Heard this on the radio earlier this week.  Jihawg Ammo, ammo infused with pork.  The only ammo that is guaranteed to send Jihadists to H. E. double L for being unclean.  No joke, their link:  http://www.jihawg.com/
  14. I have seen this before, different video though.
  15. Spelling is actually going down hill for me!   Welcome, enjoy, and share your thoughts!
  16. Coincidental topic, this issue came up this weekend with some friends of mine, but ended in a neighbor vs. neighbor feud.  Neighbor had a BBQ and some guys came over.  One had a certain Glock, one of the guys asked to shoot it into a bale of hay.  After a 3 to 5 rounds, an adjoining neighbor came out of his house, about 200-300 yards away, and started screaming.  What you doing kinda of stuff.   The guy shot some more, and the screaming neighbor came closer to the property line.  Hosting neighbor confronts screaming neighbor.  Complaining neighbor says this is a residential area, what are you doing is dangerous, its upsetting my pets, and its a nuisance, and blah, blah, blah.  Its actually quite a rural area with house lots on 5 acres type settings, lots of trees and several hundred acres of woods behind the houses.  Both neighbors argued and agreed to disagree.  Wives had to get involved and diffuse the situation.  No police though.  What was funny, about 15 min. later the guy with the friends and BBQ, went inside and pulled a SKS, laid down some waste to the hay.  Not sure if the complaining neighbor came out.  Goes to show, know your neighbors!  Evening news events starts out this way!
  17. In my bob, a can of Off with Deet.   You know to get rid of the bugs!
  18. My advice and self rule, if you contact a buyer about an item that is obviously overpriced, you actually have played into his hands that you are interested, and actually can lead to less negotiations in your favor.  My self imposed rule is this, if its overpriced to begin with, just ignore them, no contact, none whatsoever, regardless how bad you want their item.  The market that the seller misses out on is their loss.  Don't be the vigilante educator for the seller, this is one of those self taught lessons that every seller must learn the hard way.  He will find the equilibrium price (someday), providing patience, time and the actual need to the sell the item.
  19. Leaned that lesson years ago, always locked!!!   What I am about to tell happened to me 20 years ago and is totally wrong, but it worked out.  Similar situation, but with a radar detector and a wallet.  The officer asked me for the s/n, but I didn't have it, and he asked me for what was in my wallet and how much money.  Honestly, there may have been a $5 and couple of CC.  In an instant, I misspoke and said I had ~$300.  Don't know why I did that.  4 months later, received a phone call from the police.  They had cracked a case, and wanted me to go to court.  A couple of boys pleaded guilty to about 10 car break-ins of which mine was included.  They had to pay restitution (my radar detector value and cash, $450).  It took a year, but I received a check.  Was I wrong, or just thinking ahead to cover my pain and suffering.
