  1. Spent some more time at the range today with mrs hlb14. Ran 200 rounds of a combo of 115, 124 and 147 grain through the shield with only one fte from a 147gn round. Ran a few mags of s.d. rounds through it for the first time without a hiccup. You can tell the springs are really starting to loosen up. O, by the way she loves the gun! still searching for a holster she likes...
  2. Watched the replay this morning and thought it was very interesting. Wish they would've followed one's journey to get home once everything started.
  3. Really glad to read all the happy Shield comments, bought my wife one a few weeks ago and she loves it. So far only 50 rounds of 124gr fmj through it with no problems at all, may try some 147gr but wont try any 115 til at least 300 or so down the tube.
  4. the wussification of America continues...   if anyone should get fingers pointed at it should be the loosing head coach first for such a poor coaching performance and second for scheduling such an onslaught in the first place
  5. just bought one for my wife and she loves it!
  6. might try and make it Saturday afternoon Ishel- sent you a pm
  7. managed to make it to Charlie's before he closed yesterday to run her first 50 rounds through her new gun. Mrs hlb14 was so excited! 50 rounds of Nato 124gn ran without a hitch. I did notice twice when she inserted a new mag the slide would not return all the way to battery (when the slide returns forward all the way??) other than that it put brass in a nice consistant circle :pleased:
  8.   thanks Ted, the process of helping her find her gun was alot of fun! Mrs hlb14 really learned alot about different guns, triggers and such. She hates the super long trigger pull of the Kahr CW9 we rented for example. And the best part... she finally understands the need for more than one gun :pleased:
  9. was in the cool springs store last night and noticed ALL ammo had been moved back to where it use to be
  10. Well, after spending the day holding and shooting several choices, we brought home a brand spankin new 9mm S&W Shield. Brought it home, cleaned and lubed it, and now she can't wait to go back to the range and run some rounds through it.
  11. Just got back from meeting Ted at Charlie's range in spring hill and I can't thank him enough for his help and wisdom! You could tell he really likes helping people! My wife, son and I were able to try his Sig 238, a 9mm Shield and a M&Pc in both 9 and 40. My wife fell in love with the S&W Shield. Ted really helped her with her techniques and made it a real learning experience. I think its safe to say a wheelgun is not what she's looking for.
  12.   thank you ted! hopefully i can set some time aside saturday morning, i'll pm ya
  13. O believe me, i'm not buying anything til she looks at me with a smile and says "this one!"
  14. c.a. thats a very generous offer, we're shooting for monday the 14th, no pun intended, at either the Nashville Armory or G&L. I need to call and see who has what to rent
  15. What turned her onto smaller revolvers was an instructor who put on a free class at the Armory last weekend. He swore it was the cats meow. Her only other experience shooting is a M&P22 with which she qualified with and a H&K P30. Personally I'd like her to have a semi auto but I'd rather her be happy. Hopefully being able to rent one will answer some questions.
  16. Good points, definitely going to stay away from 357. I hadn't thought about going the 22 route, definitely a possibility.
  17. My wife has expressed interest in finding her first edc. So far she likes the way j frames, LCR's and sig 938's feel in her hand. I know next to nothing about revolvers so im hoping you guys can give me some pointers. I looked back in the classifieds and noticed alot of LCR's for sale. Are they that unpleasant to shoot? Seems like the S&W would be easier to handle being all metal. We're going next weekend to try and rent some different models.
  18. God Bless the the people at the animal hospital... what goes around comes around
  19. Im happy with either speer gold dots or federal HST in 45
  20. +1 for Michelin LTX M&S and Discount Tire, I've always recieved good service from Discount Tire. I've also had LTX's in the past and they were worth the $$. Depending on how your truck gets used, check out BFG All-Terrain T/A KO's, a little pricey but they wear like nobody's business. The ride is very good mounted to a Chevy 1500. I'll never own another set of Bridgestone/Firestone's again.
  21. Never been but hoping to go this year. Might try and make a family event out of it, is there an age limit to shoot?
  22.   ahh KY
  23.   where is the one in franklin?
