  1. No problems at all with my glock 21, it throws them halfway across the range which is somewhat annoying.

    Ported barrel

I have a 21c and love it (and yes I use it for self defense and carry). It's extremely accurate, extremely reliable (never had a jam or misfire after countless rounds). It's easier to shoot at night than a non c glock 21 IMO, the blast is in a V away from the sight plane and not in a big fireball at the end of the muzzle. The retention position problem is solved by training yourself to cant the gun 45*. Great gun lots of fun to shoot, helps significantly to keep muzzle flip to a minimum.
  3. I'm left handed, never had a problem with an AR.... None of mine are lefty, then again none of my bolt guns are either. Maybe now subconsciously I should have a problem lol.
  4. I have one of the new 700 SPS Varmint and other than the stock being garbage (it sits in a nice H-S Precision now) its a very nice rifle. The bolt isnt nearly as smooth as the older BDL nor am I exactly 100% sold on the the new 700 trigger. For what you pay though its a nice rifle.
  5. Pretty sure you got sold a used gun as new. I would start filing complaints as stated earlier in this thread. Shame that this thread hasn't reached the management of the establishment; I have relatives that live and apparently shop or at least did shop there... Would like to hear something from their side.
  6. Count me among the ones never to grace On Targets doors (live in JC but get down to that area occasionally). Made my mind up about Arsenal also. Sad the state of customer service with small biz these days, this is why walmart and the Internet sales prevail.

    Optic for Rem 700

I agree for the money Nikon glass is tough to beat, I have 2 on my deer rifles and they have been perfect. I have had great luck with Burris but then again all of my Burris stuff is 15+ years old and quality may have dropped off since that time. For my long range guns I have Leupold (the youngest of which is a 4.5x14 with tac turrets from the mid 90s).
  8. I hunted for years with a Rem700 25/06 in both BDL and Sendero, shot several deer over 450 yards and groundhogs at 600+. AMAZING caliber and must be handloaded to be appreciated. My choice would be .243 (or the before mentioned 25/06), easier on the pocketbook when you reload (which you will eventually do if you want to really appreciate decent groupings), easier on the shoulder, much flatter and easier to learn than a .308. The economical surplus loads are fine in your AR10 or other semi auto .308 but wont quite cut it for target or distance shooting. The real cheap corrosive ammo will erode your barrel WAY faster than erosion in a .243 so that rules out all of the real cheapo ammo. IMO (and yes I do own a Rem700 .308 Tacticool...) there are many better choices ballistically than the .308 all of which, including the .308 will only be appreciated when reloaded. Again, IMO the popularity of the .308 comes from it being a NATO service round and everyone wants to make a "sniper rifle". All this said I love my .308, however if I only had to have one gun it would be the .243 (25/06 would be mighty close it just doesnt have the massive bullet selection that the 6mm bullets have, and can be a powder hog). If I lived out west and needed a larger bullet for bigger game then of course this would change.... .223 is a great choice but really isnt very practical if you want to shoot anything over 400 yards (plus all of the limited hunting abilities of the caliber), if you wanted to stick with .223 my vote is to get a nice varmint upper for your AR and improve the trigger. .243 6mm rem 25/06 .308 30/06 7mm That would be my caliber order without getting into wildcats.
  9. I work at the Johnson City Medical Center, you will have no problems walking into a job there, the website to look for careers there is www.msha,com . Administration is very "nurse friendly" and pays better than most systems. TriCities area you should have no problems finding the hobby farm you are looking for, stay away from the actual cities and land is cheap and plentiful. Be aware that Kingsport has one of the larger chemical plants in the south, it smells and has the occasional fish kill and health hazards that go along with that. The TriCities has a moderate crime rate (the rural south you are going to run into drug problems, its a plague but still nothing like city living at least), the school systems are better than most in the state which you should factor in if you have kids or intend on having them. Hawkins county, Unicoi county or Carter county are all going to be located close to your work and cheap on land. The alternate health system is wellmont.org also a good system to work for.
