1. What is done so far
2. I'd like to thank everyone for the advice and kind words. While not exactly what I think is needed, I have found something to get us in the right direction.
3. Thanks again for all the information.    I contacted Cumberland Heights, but I would need 2 or 3 more full-time jobs in order to afford that place. Continuing with the search...
4. I found the one I'm going to use, until I change my mind again. :p
5. I think MacGyver already popped in and said it was cut off.
6. I think I've decided on this one. I'm going to get the 3"-4" foam tube to go on it, like the one used on the Phase 5 and others.
7. Yep, this build is getting expensive, and I haven't even gotten to the upper half yet.
8.
I'm not sure what exactly you're asking by "end". Maybe say it a different way?
The part not farthest from the body. ;)
9. Don't sweat it. I'm sure someone will be looking to sell some of what they purchased.
10. There are a relatively small number of companies who make the bolts and carriers for a much larger number of companies/retailers. Depending on the retailers specs, different metals are used. Dolomite did a great job explaining the difference to me, but I'm still confused.
11. Thank you for the information, guys. I've been doing a bunch of research over the weekend, and I have a few phone calls to make tomorrow. I've found myself in a very difficult and complicated situation, with an equally difficult and complicated decision to make.  Not sure I've been in a tougher spot.
12. Personally, I think the whole "don't pull your weapon unless you're prepared to shoot" talk is more for those who may not have the guts to pop a cap in someone's ass. I don't think this is a one-size-fits-all answer.   So much of your decision making is going to be situational. There have been many situations that were deescalated simply because someone pulled a weapon. Will the outcome be the same every time? No. But you must be as prepared as possible for any number of possible scenarios. Each is likely going to require s different set actions and reactions. You probably won't really know what those actions and reactions are until you find yourself in one of those situations.
13. Nope. Never had to do that.
14. Those prices sound pretty close to what they are around the Nashville area. If you can find it, I see no reason not to buy it.
15. That doesn't look factory to me. It looks like someone did a bit of milling on that upper.
16. Thank you. I think I'm going to go with the MAS Defense fluted tube.
17. Here's some photos, trying to show the difference I'm seeing.
18. Does yours have the flat or convex end? By end, I mean part closest to the body.
19. While trying to decide on a pistol buffer tube, I've been looking that RRA's offering. Is it just me, or do some of their pistol buffer tubes have a flat end, while others have a more convex end? Was this a change somewhere along the way? Anyone know which one s most recent?
20. I'll be using the Noveske QD end plate, so I'll have to bust out the file. Thanks for the info.
21. Does the little "nub" on the end plate need to be filed down with a tube like this?
22. Just wanted to make sure. I was going to go with the Phase 5, but I don't really care for the white lettering on the tube. I think I'm going to go with this, also adding the 3"-4" foam tube. I think that will look good.
