  1. HA, you said ASSHAT. I have no idea what it means, but I laugh every time I read it.
  2. We know for a fact that he is able to do this, because we tought him everything he knows. Signed, Santa Claus, Easter Bunny and Tooth Fairy
  3. Being a truck driver, I wouldn't step foot into a rest area without a gun. Not at night anyway.
  4. Isn't that the truth. They did have some fairly high prices on used guns, but heck, I haven't seen a gun store that didn't.
  5. While in the store, I was trying to figure out if they made more money from guns or groceries. It was a tiny, and I mean tiny place. It was a typical country store, in the middle of nowhere. I'm guessing that the handful of used guns, and the shelf of new/used rifles and shotguns costed much more than everything else in the store. They had nothing. I couldn't stick around long, but while there, 3 other people came in. One came for a holster, one came for some ammo, and the last came for a bologna sandwich. Of course, once I saw that 1/2 thick slice of bologna, I was forced to walk out with one as well.
  6. I was kinda thinking the same thing, but like you said, they may have more overhead, but with some of of these sores should be able to equalize that with sheer volume. Guns & Leather for example-- They probably have a fairly high overhead, compared to other stores I've seen, but on the other hand, I've never in my life seen a gun store that's consistently so darned busy. Not being in the business, I'd think they should be able to beat anyone on price. Maybe I'm way off.
  7. You're saying that Glock has a minimum wholesale price, and that's as low as any gun store owner can get them for? Or, if you have connections, you (as a store owner) can manage to get them even cheaper?
  8. I would assume (though I shouldn't) gun dealers who sell more guns would get better deals from the manufacturers, thus giving them a larger profit margin. True, or false? The reason I ask is, I stopped at an out of the way country market/gun store, just to take a look around. While there, I asked the lady to price an XD40 4" Service for me. They didn't have much stock, in the way of new guns, nor was she very familiar with the firearms aspect of the store. Because of this, she simply handed me the book they use to order from, their prices included. I didn't pay real close attention to many other prices, but the book (looked like a magazine that would have been sent from a distributor or something) and the lady both said their price was $414, and my price would be $525.14, out the door. Because this place was so small, and undoubtedly has much fewer customers than bigger city store, I'd imagine they can't purchase the guns, themselves, from the manufacturers for prices as low as the bigger city stores could. Yet, they're selling them (the gun I priced anyway) for roughly the same price, if not less in some cases, than some of the local dealers around Nashville.
  9. Hi Phil. Welcome to Tennessee and TGO.com. We're glad to have ya. What part of Tennessee are you in? Maybe someone can hook up with you for a range session. Enjoy your stay.
  10. In most cases, I would say NO, the government shouldn't tell me how much practice time I need. But, because we have incompetent people (no names mentioned) walking around with loaded fireamrs, I say YES, require HCP holders to practice every few months. It's quite unfortunate that the government would need to require an adult to be safety conscious when carrying a firearm, but again, unfortunately we walk amongst at least some people who feels it's perfectly safe to walk around with a loaded firearm, not having the slightest idea if it will even operate properly. Not to mention you'll likely lack some of the much needed skill you may have had when you quite going to the range. Here's a personal example of what I'm talking about. Not gun related, but nontheless, could possibly become a deadly situation, for myself and others around me. For those of who who don't know, I'm a local truck driver, and have been operating 80,000# trucks for roughly 10 years, without a single accident (knock on wood). With all that experience, I'm pretty darned confident in my skills and ability to climb into any rig, at any given time, and get that puppy down the road in a safe manner. With that being said, a while back I severely broke my foot, which required me to be out of a truck for quite a while. When I was finally able to climb back in the truck, yes, I was able to get right in there and get it down the road. The problem was, after being out of the truck for so long, I became a bit rusty when it came to shifting gears, backing up, proper mirror useage, and just little things that only other truck drivers understand. Now here's the difference between some (incompetent people) and myself. Because I knew I'd be rusty, and had no desire to hurt or kill myself or anyone around me, I took it upon myself to climb into the truck for a few spins aroound the block. Not only did I have a chance to brush up on the shifting aspect, but I was also able to get used to the wide turns, mirror useage and backing up. yes, even after nearly ten years of daily driving in a 80,000# truck, I still felt it my personal responsibility to make sure I wasn't going to get out on the road, and possibly hurt or kill myself, or anyone around me simply because of my negligent actions. Did the government REQUIRE me to do this? Absolutely not. See, they didn't have to, because I was capable enough to use the common sense God gave me. The government shouldn't have to require half the crap they do, but it's the idiots of society who've left them little choice. If everyone would use a little more common sense, maybe, just maybe they would/could leave us alone, even if just a little. Your BS excuses of "the government doesn't require it" is uttter BULL SH8T. It may not be the popular opinion, but as I stated before, I hope like hell they take away your HCP. It's people like who who end up making it harder on those of us who actually care about ourselves and those around us. Those of us who realize it's not/shouldn't be the governments job to babysit us like little children. Again, it frightens me to know that there are people like you walking around with a loaded firearm. And no, none of this will make a lick of sense to you, because you have none. If you didn't spend every waking moment worrying about who you're gonna sue next, maybe you'd have time for the practice range. Sorry, didn't mean to be so long winded.
  11. WoW! That's a really great story. I would have said "sweet" story, but I'd rather not get "punched out". Keep us up-to-date as to how things continue to grow between the two of you.
  12. I lived there for the first 18 years of my life. I can think of a million reasons why I would never live there.
  13. What do you mean? Like, why in the world are you carrying a gun (any gun) everyday that you have not practiced with in at least a year? Not a very "safety" oriented fella, are ya? Something like that? No, I'm not gonna bring it up.
  14. Let me know how the "legality" of your actions work for you. Often times, it's best to mix a little common sense with the legal aspects of any given situation. Fact is, your actions have shown the intent to harass. Dude, you're contacting the Codes Department, in hopes of "getting even". If you were driving down the street, and happened to see this vehicle on blocks, you would have never given it a second thought. But, because this guy has made you angry, you've decided you're going to do whatever it takes to get even. Bottom line, You attempted to handle this situation while making it known you were armed with a firearm (open carry). A person that had nothing to do with the situtaion (she didn't sell you the wrong part), now cliams she felt threatened by your actions while you were carrying a firearm. The said woman had a restraining order filed against you for your above mentioned actions. Also, didn't you mention the fact that someone else (from the codes dept.?) also fealt scared and/or threatened by your actions? Just what will help your case. Having a governemnt offical scared of you, your actions or weapon is never a good thing. That's probably not going to help your case any. On top of all that, have you ever stopped to think about the repercussions of your actions, for the rest of us who carry a gun? When you get yourself into a confrontation while carrying a firearm, you're asking for trouble, for all of us. We don't need anymore people thinking that we're a bunch of rogue outlaws who feel it's Ok to take the law into our own hands with a firearm on our side. Yes, it's perfectly leagal to carry a gun in the open, but there are times (like this one, when two brain cells should be put to use) when you would be much better off by carrying it concealed. Everyday, there is groups of people trying to take our rights away, and your actions don't help our case in the slightest. And don't think for one split second that our right to carry a gun isn't in jeopardy, simply becuase we have the Constitution. Just ask people who live in cities and states that have already thrown the Constitution out the window for thier own set of rules. It's happened to them, and it can happen to us.
  15. You just answered the question for yourself. You're attempting to play the role of "Magnum PI/Barnaby Jones", when you should have just hired a lawyer or PI to serve the papers for you in the first place. Your lack of proper thought process has convinced you that you could handle this on your own, but face it, you can't. Not without causing yourslf a whole lot more greif in the long run. If it was me, I'd be willing to pay $140 to make it all go away.
  16. Same here. Never got the email. I tried to change my email, then it banned me. Go figure.
  17. The more and more I read about this situation, the more and more I believe it may be a good idea to revoke your HCP. You're simply unstable in the head. I understand you being upset over the loss of $140, but your thought process on how the situation should be dealt with is way out there. Unfortunately, if you don't have the ability to use wise judgement in dealing with such a simple situation, I'm not very comfortable knowing you're able to walk around with a gun.
  18. I was thinking about joining the NRA, but I don't have a rifle. Anyone have one they wanna give me so I can join? Thanks in advance.
  19. No problem. Tomorrow is supposed to be very nice. High of 72, and mostly sunny.

  21. It's kinda hard to tell the exact condition from your pictures, but it looks in much better shape than some of them on GB. Like I said, I'd probably start a bit high. You can always wheel and deal from there. If I had the money, I'd take it off his hands.
  22. WoW. I just looked at GB, myself. I'd start at about $1700 - $2000, and make a deal from there.
