  1. I've played with a couple, and they are nothing more than expensive toys, IMHO. One was an AR15 and the other was a 12ga shotgun. They were neat to play with, but not if you intend on using them to brush up on your marksmanship. They are not quite that accurate. Not the ones I played with anyway.
  2. It was no problem. While browsing, I did see some older bikes that were $600-$800. Tell him that the bike will only go as fast as he makes it go. He doesn't have to go full throttle all the time. What he doesn't realize is, it will only take him a very very short time to get used to riding, and then he'll want a bigger and faster bike. The decision is ultimately between you and your son, but knowing what I know, anything much smaller than a 125cc, and both of you will likely regret it. My first bike (no previous riding experience) was an 80's model Suzuki DR 100. I was only 11 then. It took me only to weeks to realize I really wanted something a bit bigger and faster. That's just my opinion.
  3. Oh, 1 more thing--When you do decide on a bike, I'd stock up on clutch and front brake levers, because you'll need'em.
  4. Here are a few good examples of bikes to look at. These are just some examples I could find quickly. I'm not sure of your price range, so you may want to go a few years older to save a few bucks. Also, I personally would go woth a 2-stroke over the 4-stroke. That's just me though. With a 2-stroke motorcycle, you'll have to mix the gas and 2-cycle oil much like you would in a weedeater. The 4-strokes are usually quieter, but don't quite have the get-up-and-go power. Although, the newer 4-strokes have much more torque than in years past. You'll have to check out both. http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/727426987.html http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/723282912.html http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/716824628.html http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/711067405.html http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/702138349.html http://nashville.craigslist.org/mcy/677448996.html
  5. In my humble opinion, you can't go wrong with a Honda, Suzuki, Kawasaki, Yamaha or KTM. I'd stay away from the cheaper off-brand bikes you'll find. If he's 13, I'd look into the 125cc. If he's an extra large 13 year old, he may have to step it up to the 250cc. I'd look at the classifieds before buying brand new. You can find some amazing deals on very nice used bikes. I'm not aware of any training centers around, but even if there were, no training is like the real thing. I promise he will fall, crash, and likely get hurt while riding. It's all part of it. I would suggest investing in a helmet, and riding boots at the very least. After a while he can move into the full set of gear. I was raised on dirt bikes, and even raced a bit when I was much younger and thinner. I loved it.
  6. Damn skippy! I'll sacrifice the buzz for the pleasure.
  7. Gun's & Leather are some of the finest people around. I've been to many gun stores that look at you all stupid when you ask a question about something. Not at G&L. They always seem more than happy to explain everything you need to know, and then some. And they never have a bad attitude. Plus, they have a great indoor range. For these parts anyway.
  8. No problem. I'm a nice guy like that.
  9. I'm having a hard time finding the rifle in the picture.
  10. WOW! What was the guy doing wrong? That does say a lot for ASP.
  11. Yep, he's loving it. It's in very good condition for it's age. I was surprised how rough the grips were, while the guns finish was quite nice. He gave $300 for the 64-3, and another $30 for the new but used grips. He's happy.
  12. Did something like this also happen in the Sumner County area? I was told a similar story about a a range/club in that area.

Everyone wants one. For some reason factories can put out 4397898754985968 brand new automobile each day, but only 3 guns. Go figure.
  14. My girlfriend is out of town for the evening (likely with her boyfriend), so what the hell--1 shot of Opal Nera Black Sambuca and 1 shot of 5150 Tequila Reposado.
  15. All I know is, I want a buttstock like this And a upper that looks similar to this I want everything to look clean, smooth, and fairly plain.
  16. All I know is, I want something fairly basic. I have no need nor desire for lights, lasers, cameras, toasters or microwaves attached to my rifle. I nice scope of some sort is about it.
  17. I'm also in the same boat. If I ever sell this XD(M), I'm building/buying me an AR of some sort. Like you, I have little idea where to start. So many options to choose from. I'm not looking to spend huge money either. I'd say about $800 is tops for me.
  18. WHAT!?! There were cookie and brownies? Now I'm p!$$ed that I didn't make it. I'm really gonna try to make it next month.
  19. I went to both. Bob Pope show seemed much smaller than in the past. They didn't have any vendors down in the pit, so there were less items to browes through. The fairgrounds probably had a few less vendors than in Franklin. I really wish I would have purchased one of those range bags for $20. I think that was one hell of a deal that guy had on bags. In the end, neither were very impressive, and both should be ashamed to charge what they do for admission.
  20. Yep! thanks again, guys. They fit perfectly.
  21. Thanks guys. I hope we got the right ones. We found 3 sets of K-Frame Square Butt's between both shows today. The best looking set were found at the 2nd show. At the Fairgrounds. Potential problem is, they are not the same as the set in the picture. The set in the above picture only cover the side of the grip (metal part). The set picture leave the front and backstrap of the grip visable. The set we purchased at the show will end up covering the front strap, and leaving the backstrap visable. The bottom part of the butt will also be covered with the new set. If they fit, of course. The grips from the show were clearly used, but still in much better shape than his current set. I suggest he try some aftermarket grips, but he just had to have the original S&W medalion on the grips. I guess we'll see if they work when he gets a chance to put them on.
  22. He thinks it's a 64-3, but is going to call me back to let me know for sure. Thanks again. **EDIT- yep, 64-3. Thanks for all your help.
  23. Thanks for all help. He's wanting a set of original grips, so I'll keep a look out.
  24. I don't know much about wheel guns, so I need some info if possible. My girlfriends father just purchased a S&W 38 Special CTG. The Serial number is 7D529? He wanted me to look for some grips at the show today, but I have no idea what kind of frame that is. Can anyone give me some info? Exact model, Frame type and age? Thanks in advance.
