  1. Is there anything I need to know/worry about if I decide to order an upper, without the BCG and charging handle?
  2. They do the same thing here. A new law hit the books July 1st that requires junk yard sellers to provide identification and a thumb print that will be kept on file. Furthermore, cash transactions are old news. Instead copper providers will be paid with vouchers or a check in the mail. Who knows if this will help, but it's a start.
  3. What's the scoop?
  4. What are you looking for?
  5. True. I'd say no more than 30-40 minutes. Well worth the drive.
  6. I can tell you not to bother with the pawn shop in the East Side Shopping Center, on Thompson St . They do have a selection of guns, but all the prices I saw were through the roof. Very used guns for very new prices. That was just my experience there. Also, I don't think Shelbyville has a "gun store". I asked around, and no one could think of one.
  7. Welcome to reality. As the economy slides downhill, you better be prepared to see the crime rates substantially increase. This only means your chances of being a victim will increase just the same. Coincidence, or not, the crime rates in the Hendersonville area have spiked in recent months. I was hoping to leave that crap in the area I recently moved from, but judging by the recent rash of robberies and thefts near my home, it's [crime] increasing everywhere. While talking to neighbors, co-workers and customers, I've heard several stories about how entire streets and/or neighborhoods have been burglarized. The thieves have been brazen enough to steal from dozens of vehicles and/or homes on the same street. As our economy worsens, you can bet your a$$ that these criminals are becoming increasingly desperate. Extremely desperate criminals can only make a very bad situation a whole lot worse. This is just another reason to make sure you're as prepared as you can possibly be. Now, more than ever, protecting you and yours must be priority number one.
  8. Welcome to TGO, from Nashville!
  9. All of those were great, but the fact that I'm struggling with weight loss (or lack thereof), I especially loved these. 85-year $75.8 billion study: Diet and exercise is the key to weightloss. Average weight of Americans drops to 250 lbs. I'll be a happy SOB when I can manage to find my way to the 250 mark. Sad, I know.

You lucky SOB! That was one of my recommendations, but I didn't expect you to tease me with a damn picture.
  12. Not that I'm any kind of expert, but I've made a final decision to go with the LMT upper for my current build. I've heard nothing but good things about their quality and service.
  13. Ok. I did see the previews for that. I'll pass on that job. I'd hate for someone to have to fill in the hole when I fall and hit the ground.
  14. Did this start tonight? I missed it. My girlfriend had me watching Intervention.
  15. That was hardcore. Very hardcore and no fear.
  16. Par for the course?
  17. That's simply a poor habit, IMHO. If the round doesn't fire the first time, odds are it won't go off the second time. By time you attempt a second strike, realize that's not gonna work, then realize "OH MY GOD.....I BETTER RACK THE SLIDE.....you're likely dead meat. IMHO, you should never attempt a second strike, even at the range. Again, a very poor habit to get yourself into. With that being said, the "second strike" argument doesn't count. Next?
  18. Just a couple of piece of s*** mother f*****! Know what I'm sayin?
  19. The DOJ gave their approval back in March of this year. Just last month, inside sources leaked information saying they (FCC) have also approved the merger, but this hasn't been released to the public as of yet. Even though many refer to the deal as a "merger of equals", Sirius will actually acquire XM for nearly $5 billion in stock. I guess merger just sounds a bit more innocent to those who are or may be against the deal. To help ensure the FCC's approval, Sirius/XM argeed to GIVE 20 something (28, I think) channels to the "minorities", due to growing pressure from the Congressional Black Caucus. At first they agreed to only 12 channels, but that wasn't enough free stuff for them. Per usual, they are always looking for a handout. I can't say for sure, but I'm sure Sirius/XM only agreed to this, because they're sure those channels won't last long. With 95% of people still listening to free radio, the minorities won't have the funds to support the channels they were given. A huge plus to the whole merger, is the fact that Sirius CEO Mel Karmazin will retain his CEO title after the merger. XM CEO Hugh Panero stepped down last year. If I remember correctly, XM chairman Gary Parsons will remain the chairman after the merger is complete.
  20. I'm glad someone said it before I did.
  21. It's nice to hear about taking your daughter along. I'm looking into purchasing a little .22 for my 9 year old daughter. I'm not sure if I'm gonna go with a bolt action or automatic. As of now, I'm leaning towards the bolt for some reason.
  22. Sounds like a bunch of morons who just wanted to hear themselves on the radio.
  23. Just getting into the AR scene, I don't claim to be very knowledgable on the quality of each brand. What I can tell you is, nearly everyone I have talked to about AR's has made it a point to tell me what garbage Olympic Arms rifles are. Again, I have no personal expreiences with them, but I have yet to hear anyone talking good about them.

+1 OK, I take back my previous statement. Not only do I miss the food in Chicago, but the museums are also a huge plus. The Museum of Science and Industry, Art Institute of Chicago, Field Museum, Adler Planetarium, and the ever famous Shedd Aquarium are all "must see" attractions while visiting the Chicagoland area. I do miss those.
