  1. I did not know this was the case. If I remember correctly, xdshooter ordered a BP revolver not long ago. I didn't hear/see him mention any issues with shipping.
  2. Sounds fine. I'm not in any great rush.
  3. It's kinda hard to tell from the angle of the photograph, but it looks like a Lee Pot IV (4), which holds 10 pounds. It's basically an entry level type pot. I'd fire it up and see what it does. EDIT: I was able to find some pictures of a Pot IV. Maybe you can tell. http://www.tacticoolproducts.com/bulletcasting/ Here's more pictures. http://www.auctionarms.com/search/printitem.cfm?ItemNum=8117983
  4. I know I've seen a thread or two about breaking in the barrel on a handgun, but don't recall a thread about doing so for an AR barrel. Is it really beneficial and/or necessary? I've read a handful of articles by those who are supposed to be "professionals", but of course, some say yes, some say no. What do you ARer's have to say? If you believe it to be beneficial and/or necessary, what are the methods you'd suggest.
  5. How long does it usually take to get the license after it's sent off?
  6. Shows what I know. Then I did it wrong on the CLEO copy. I can change that before I send it. All fixed. Thanks!
  7. Did I screw up? Well, I know I did, but not sure if it's really going to matter. When filling out the application (that I already sent to the BATFE), I accidentally wrote down the Sumner County Sheriff (Bob Barker), instead of Chief Deputy Sonny Weatherford. I wrote it correctly on the copy I sent to the Chief. Does anyone think this is going to matter?
  8. There is a method to their [Government] madness. If you want to maintain the ability to own firearms, don't cost us money by claiming to have PTSD. Hey, at least we're giving you a choice.
  9. I've really enjoyed the whole process of custom building my own AR, except for the moments when I have to make up my mind. Joe, I'm not trying to rush you in any way, but do you have a rough ETA on the upper being ready?
  10. Thank You! I needed someone on my side. Tungy-Pooh just doesn't want to see me happy.
  11. He said I could always change my mind and not take it (it's still at Hero Gear), but I hate to do that.
  12. Damn it! Quit trying to make me regret my purchase. I was very happy, until you started raining on my parade.
  13. Why would you buy a Glock when the Gun God's invented the XD?
  14. That's the exact model I'll be getting in the future, but I also wanted the ability to shoot closer range with faster sight acquisition. Admittedly, I'm kinda thinking in the short term. I checked out the Millett a couple weeks ago, and think it will be a great longer range sight, but feel I'd lack the close and fast shooting. It wasn't an easy decision, but I had to go one way or the other for now. If it were a perfect world, I'd have both optics right now.
  15. The EOTech probably isn't the absolute "ideal" optic for what I had planned, but my budget is gone. After combining my needs with my budget, the EOTech was going to be my choice. Actually, I was going to skip optics all together and go with the Troy's, but I think I got a pretty decent deal on the EOTech. Good enough I had to go with it. I was originally considering the EOTech with a magnifier, but I'm not sure about that right now. I may get myself started with the EOTech, then end up buying a longer range optic down the road. I always assumed I'd have more than one optic set-up anyway. It's just gonna take a while.
  16. I'm definitely going with the Troy sights, but I have to let the dust settle for a bit. My "gun fund" is now dry.
  17. I made a trip to Hero Gear and ordered everything I needed to finish this project. Well, for now anyway. Being able to put my hands on so many options was the best thing I could have done. I was able to see and feel so many options I hadn't previously seen at the gun shows or online. I still fought with myself over which direction to go, but I finally made up my mnd. Joe was an amazing help. I actually almost feel bad for taking up so much of his time. He had rifles and rifle parts sprawled out from one end to the other, so I could see and feel everything. He did his very best to make sure I had plenty of options to choose from. He was (seemed to be anyway) more than patient while explaining things and answering my questions. I finally decided on the; LMT 16" upper, with a low profile gas block. YHM Free Float 4 Rail Forearm. I'll definitely be adding some low profile (ladder type) rail covers. Here's a picture without the rail covers. Originally, I planned on going with the Troy folding front and read sights, but Joe came out with an EOTech 511.A65/1. It was only a few bucks more than the Troy sights. For the price, I couldn't resist. I know it's not one of the top EOTech models, but it will suit my needs just fine. I can always upgrade one day. I'll have to save for the Troy sights. I may not need or use them once I mount the EOTech, but I still want them, sooner or later. In the end, this project is going to end at the opposite end of the spectrum from where I first started. I thought I had my mind set going into this, but obviously that didn't last long. Too damn many options. Either way, I'm "gun broke" for a long while. When this thing get's finished, I may have to shoot my way out of the dog house. My girlfriend has at least acted quite supportive, but damn near doubling my initial budget sure hasn't helped my cause.
  18. This is interesting. An acquaintance of mine was arrested several years ago for something to do with pot. I know it was a felony of somesort. He had never been in trouble before, so he had a pretrial diversion. From what I understand, that means he wasn't guilty or not guilty. I'm not 100% sure about that part, just what I always understood. Anyway, he was able to get everything expunged from his record, and now has a HCP and owns a gun. I wonder if this will cause him to lose his privileges. Afterall, he was not actually found guilty.
  19. Sounds great to me. I love a good torrential downpour. So relaxing. I'm jealous.
  20. NASCAR? What's that? I've been a die hard NASCAR fan for several years, but they have made me sick. I've watched 2 1/4 races this season. This isn't the first, second, or third time Goodyear has had an issue with the tires. Goodyear blames NASCAR, and NASCAR blames Goodyear. I was listening to Sirius NASCAR Radio (Ch.128), when some sort of "manager" from Goodyear called in. According to him, NASCAR tells Goodyear what tires and how many to bring. He said that Goodyear has multiple tire compounds for each track, and NASCAR decides which tires they want the teams to use. Goodyear has no say when it comes to which tires will be used on any given track, according to the "manager" guy. He also mentioned another intersting fact that I didn't know. The teams "rent" the tires from Goodyear. At the end of each race, the teams must give back the used tires, along with any tires they have not used. This is done to keep the more wealthy teams from stockpiling more tires than the less wealthy teams.
  21. Fortunately, I didn't use a lawyer. Much of this stuff can be taken care of without a lawyer. My ex didn't have the money for a lawyer, so I didn;t spend mine. If she would have had a lawyer with her, I would have been forced to do the same, but it worked out for the better. Although, I did contact a lawyer I had used in the past. She was willing to spend a few minutes on the phone. She told me what direction I needed to take, and I went from there.
  22. A flash hider is supposed to suppress the flash, and the muzzle break is supposed to decrease muzzle rise. Yes, they usually screw on and off. Some I've seen must be cut off. Someone with real experience can explain better.
  23. Damn. I really feel for ya on this one. If your mind is made up, a call to a good lawyer should be your next step. Many of them will talk with you on the phone for a few minutes. Explain the situation, get some sound feedback, and go from there. If it were me, I'd try to get a free phone call out of a few different lawyers, if possible. This way you can get a better idea of your real options. If they/you feel like you have a real case in your favor, it may be worth going to court. I'm not sure I'd sell everything I own just for the fight of it. It sounds like you're gonna have to pick your battles when dealing with his mother. I had to do the very same thing. I sat back, waited for her to really f**k up, and I pounced like a fat cat. By time it was over, there was no doubt in anyones mind that she was not a fit parent. I now have full custody of my daughter. Her mother doesn't even have visitation. Best of luck to you and your son.
  24. When you say you have "Joint Custody", does this mean he lives with you roughly the same number of days as he lives with her? Or, do you have a scheduled visitation (every weekend, every other weekend, ect,)? How is your son's time split between you and his mother?
  25. Regarding the Ace Skeleton Stock issue; I talked with someone (forgot his name) at Double Star Corp./J&T Distributing/Ace Ltd, and he informed me that there was a batch of these stocks sent out with the wrong screw. According to him, one was sent in the mail today. I'm just happy that I wasn't doing something wrong.
