  1. I see where you're coming from. I'm not a big on-line shopper, especially for guns or other high value items. I like to put my hands on most items before handing over that kind of money. Hell, I just made an online purchase for a friends wedding gift. It happened to be something I wasn't able to find anywhere near me, so I had little choice. I now regret making that purchase. The item arrived broken. When I called the company to see about having another shipped, I was told they were on backorder until late September. Plus, I have to pay for the return shipping. How's that for service. Online shopping can turn into a real disaster.
  2. I'm not sure I wouldn't have shot BigFoot if I had stumbled upon him/her. But in a way, if the story turns out to be true, it is kinda sad. It does appear to be at least half man.
  3. I'm not going to quote any one persons post (many have mentioned it), but I can't figure for the life of me why there would need to be any 'haggling' going on in the first place. Why should I have to ask any dealer in any certian "special" manner in order to get their best possible price? When I ask a dealer for their price on any given item, I expect a reply that involves their bottom dollar. I should not be expected to make a trip to their shop, stand on one foot, do a head stand and sing kumbaya just to get "their best price". Admittedly, I tend to be a 'price shopper' on certian items. This doesn't mean I'll contact multiple dealers for prices, then attempt to start a price war. I simply call, email or visit the store and ask for a price quote. There is a difference. If it's an item I'm willing to 'price shop' for, I'll simply go with the lowest price.
  4. Sorry, someone else already posted. Please Delete.
  5. That was funny. Nice find. As "Redneck" as it may have been, it almost makes more sense than those who go into thousands and thousands of dollars in debt for a wedding. That is just as silly, IMHO. Then again, this is coming from someone who thinks the whole idea of marriage is a bit silly.
  6. Yep. And they're every bit of an hour away from my home. I talked to someone who's been attending the matches at the Gallatin Gun Club. He's saying that GGC does infact have several (roughly 80+), but they're only allowing those to join who "know someone already on the inside". This is somewhat understandable, but it really sucks for those of us who don't have a lot of time to meet and get in good with current members.
  7. Ahhh....I now see what you were getting at. You're exactly right, in my case anyway. Budget smudget.
  8. I guess so. But I still feel as if you still get what you pay for, to a certian degree. You can always find something that will get the job done, but I have a hard time settling something that will just get the job done. I always want a little nicer. It's just another pain in the a$$ when it comes to the building of this rifle. As of now, it's a love/hate thing. I'm sure I bring most of it on myself. I can be so damn indecisive. If I had an endless budget, things would be so much easier.
  9. I attepmted to stay around $1000 (not including optics), but I'm well over that so far.
  10. Nothing wrong with that. You'll save yourself a whole bunch of money. I kinda planned on going a similar route, but I quickly drifted from my original plans. I tried to stay within a budget, but that went out the window shortly after I purchased the stripped lower. Fill us in on your progress.
  11. You're off and runnin'. What components are you planning on going with?
  12. Yea, but I'd like to become a member. It's the closest club/range to my home, but their website always claims that membership is full.
  13. Still on my diet, so nothing exciting. I've been eating lots of Subway. 6" Turkey on wheat. No cheese. Lettuce, tomato, onion, pickle, bananna peppers and fat free sweet onion. I have no idea how much weight I've lost (I was too afraid to weigh myself in the beginning of the diet), but my pants are fitting a bit more loosely today than they were 2 weeks ago. I have a very long way to go, but I'm feeling better.
  14. How about China trying to convince everyone that their 10 year athletes are really 16+? I'm not buying it. They have at least one or two girls who are nowhere near 16.
  15. An amazing body, she has. She made my girlfriend slap me a few dozen times while watching her perform last night. You've got that right. I watched her perform last night, and it's amazing to see her keep up with the girls half her age. But she does have a few extra male genes in her.
  16. No, it has not.
  17. I think this is the closest one. Gallatin Gun Club has some 100,200 and 300 ranges, but I don't think they'll let you shoot there without being a member. And becoming a member at GCC doesn't seem like an easy task. Other than that, Owl Hollow and Hobson Pike are probably the closest. Once I get my AR finished, I'll be right behind ya.
  18. Yea, you need a good lawyer. This sounds like it could easily turn into a huge mess.
