  1. They are cut at an angle to help prevent muzzle rise.
  2. Congrats! I just got a 40 pound book in the mail. I haven't had a chance to open it, but I'm guessing its a book of rules and regulations.
  3. I use Winchester White Box 99% of the time. You can get it from Wal-Mart as cheap as anywhere. I don't shop at Wal-Mart, but I know they are about the cheapest.
  4. I hope to have my grubby fat hands on it Friday, but that all depends on my route. After watching the morning news, the weather may be too wet for the R/C show this weekend, so theres a chance I'll have to make the trip all the way to Hero Gear. We'll see when the time comes.
  5. Thanks for the offer, Winger, but we also have plans for this weekend. We'll be in the Coffee County area for the Giant Scale R/C Plane Airplane and Helicopter show. If I can't manage to make it to Hero-Gear on Friday, I'll have to sqeeze in that drive sometime Saturday afternoon.
  6. Not to mention the 2nd guy that needed to drink some damn water. It sounded like he had a mouth full of glue while talking.
  7. Sir, Please back away from the crack pipe.
  8. My father lives in Tulsa, and I carry a loaded gun during the entire trip. The very same thing can be said for my trips to my cousins house in Little Rock. Carry on.
  9. I'm fat. Fall and Spring are best for my kind.
  10. Sounds good. now I'm gonna need you to place an order with Hangers or Wholesale (flooring stores). that will almost ensure I have a delivery in your area.
  11. Sweeeeeeeet!!!!! There is a fairly good chance that my Friday route will have me in your neck of the woods. Any chance it would be ready by then?
  12. I found out that The Pit Stop is the catering aspect of the business. Their actual location, Big John's, is in Lawrenceburg, Tn. Anyone been there?
  13. Thanks for the offer, gsbell. I may take you up on that. How many rounds do they usually shoot during a match?
  14. Does she know how to cook and clean? If so, I may have room for her. Just kidding. I hope they do give you a fair price. I don't personally know anyone who's been through such a situation, but I have heard of people coming out ahead on the deal. Are they going to widen the road on only the north side of I-40? I don't generally get that way, but I make deliveries on the south side of 40 nearly every Monday. I'd hate for them to hinder my progress.
  15. Does anyone know anything about this place? The Friends of NRA dinner that I attended the other night had some BBQ catered by these folks. The had pulled pork, potato salad and baked beans. Everything was amazing, but the potato salad would make you smack your momma right in the kisser. It was the best I'd ever put in my mouth. And trust me, my fat a$$ has put away some tater salad. The potato salad tasted more like a loaded baked potato, rather than the traditional mayo or mustard style most of us are used to. Anyway, I'm not sure if it's an actual restaurant or not, because the actual name of the place is 'Pit Stop BBQ & Catering'. I wasn't sure if this was some deal that was run out of someones home, or a restaurant where you could order take-out. Living 2+ hours away, it's not like I can just run over to pick something up for dinner, but my route sometimes gets me right through Summertown. I could always take a cooler along and pick some up on the way back to Nashville. That's the plan anyway.
  16. And she's likely the very same woman who also called the police because her Whopper wasn't made correctly.
  17. Glock stole that idea from the XD Series.
  18. It's disgusting that parents and coaches of opposing teams would forfeit a game simply because the pitcher was "too good". What kind of picture does that paint for the children on the forfeiting team? Very bad move, IMHO. With that being said, I think I'd move my child up a level. Chances are, very few of the children at his current level will be able to get a hit off him. There's no challenge for this kid at his current level of play, and it's far too easy for him to actually learn anything that he doesn't already know. A higher level of play would likely increase his skill level.
  19. The pictures posted by Verbal Kint are pretty nice. I'm still trying to find someone local who can do this type of stipple job. I think they call it "Tree Bark". IMHO, it's the very best looking I've seen. I'm looking to have this done to my XD.
  20. I first hear about them when a venddor was selling them on a gun forum. I have since seen them at a few gun show. Now that you know what they are, you'll start to notice them on vehicles. I know I have.
  21. I've been thinking about going to a match or two, just to watch. I've never competed, but I think I may be interested in it. Gallatin Gun Club is probably the closest to us. If you'd like, maybe we can check it out sometime. You can always practice a bit over at Guns & Leather. It's an indoor range, but they have computerized targets. It's not the same thing as the IDPA-type matches, but the targets move around. This would help improve quicker sight acquisition.
  22. I have no clue, but I'd guess it was because the location (HHS) was free or cheap.
  23. Ooops, my bad. I guess I got lost in all the excitement.
  24. That's a tough one. It's hard to make someone carry who's not really interested. By no means am I an expert on purses, but I thought most of them had a zippered pouch. Of course, some may be too small for a gun, but I'd start there. If she's concerned about your daughter getting her hands on it, maybe she can take it out of the purse when she gets home. Best of luck.
  25. Well, there were some great deals to be had, as well as a pretty darn good BBQ dinner. The best darn potato salad I've put in my fat mouth. I was pretty shocked at how cheap all the guns were auctioned for. Here are the two that really stuck in my mind. Limited Edition (1 of 1,150) Weatherby Orion D’Italia O/U 12GA Shotgun. This went for $1100. I don't think you can get a standard version of this for less that about $1500. Limited Edition (1 of 1,100) Kimber Custom II “NRA Freedom Warrior†.45. I think this one went for about $800. There were 5 or 6 other guns that were given away or auctioned off, but I came home with none. I didn't really have the money to buy anything, so I was hoping to hear one of my ticket numbers called, but that didn't happen either. The one rifle I did think about bidding on was a Marlin Bolt Action Rifle .17HMR SS, but Len's pockets were a bit deeper than mine. Either way, all the money spent went to a good cause. Hope to attend the next one.
