  1. Power Bill or Ammo? Let me think about this for a second...Ummm, yea, I'm going with the power bill. I'm happy to hear that the Open Carry Boogeyman didn't get you.
  2. Thank you very much for the graciousness, but I couldn't accept such an offer. Heck, I got to think about what it must have costed you to let me shoot your rifles. You've been kind enough. I didn't really factor in the heat when deciding to go with the ladder covers. I just wanted something to smooth out the sharp edges of the aggressive style rails on this forearm. If heat is going to be an issue for me, I'll deal with that later. I've changed my mind with everything else during this build, so I wouldn't be surprised if I decide to go another route with this as well.
  3. Thanks! You're still going to be the first person I call when I'm ready to shoot. The "significant other" has been very understanding about the money spent on this project, so I'm trying not to push it to the limit. I have this beautiful rifle, but no ammo as of yet. When things settle down a bit, I plan on finding a good deal on some.
  4. Being a long time Metallica fan, that was great. Even if I do hate cats. Nice find.

Yes, a hair dryer set on high will get hot enough. You don;t need to exceed 150 degrees. When a gun is new (or new to me) I take it to the range with some Militec. I apply it to all moving parts and inside of the barrel, then I shoot 2 magazines. I apply more Militec, and shoot 2 more magaines. I then do it a thrid time. I apply a very thin coat after cleaning. I will repeat the above process every few thousand rounds. Militec claims that you can shoot roughly 1500 rounds without applying any more Militec1, but because I always leave a thin layer of oil after cleaning, I pay little attention to that. Here is some info from their page. Read through it.
  6. Out of sight, out of mind.
  7. Someone really needs to bring back the Hitler mustache. Any trend-setters in da house?
  8. I decided to go with the SUREFIRE ladder-type rail covers. The UPS guy just delivered them. I liked the SUREFIRE covers better than the other brands offered. First of all, they have slight indentions which allow your fingers to grip them a little better. On top of that, they were at least half the price of all other brands. They fit perfectly.

I'm glad you mentioned the hair dryer method. I forgot to mention it.
  10. +1 One of these is on my long list of "Must Buys" in the future. Of course, I can't sellt for a basic 10/22. I have to have a custom job. Sooner or later.
  11. Thanks guys. I just used an online translator, and that's basically what it says. Yea, I want no part of that. Thanks.
  12. I received this crazy text message today, but have no clue what it says, or who sent it. The phone number was crazy.
  13. I have some parts on my XD that I'd like to get Hard Chromed. Do we have any members that do such a thing?

I always keep a light coat after cleaning. A very light coat. Unlike many lubes, Militec doesn't wear off near as fast. Even after the "wet" part of the lubrication is gone, it's still working due to the fact that it's a dry impregnated lubricant. Check out the info on their website. There's some very good info.
  15. Yea, you'll likely want to go with a different holster. They are cheap. They did slightly improve the design for the XD-M, but still not all that great. As a matter of fact, if you ask me, all the "extras" that come with the XD are trash. This is coming from a real fan of the XD's.
  16. No problem. IMHO, that is the best Gun-Fu movie of all time. I'd like to have a couple of those modified fully automatic Beretta 92FS's.
  17. I know it's not a .40, but they do have an XD45 with an optional manual safety.
  18. Not the Ruger P Series. Other than that, go with the one that fits you the best. Keep us posted.

That is just about all I use. Yes, it's a lube, but it also makes cleaning much easier. Militec1 is heat activated, so you should apply it, then fire a handfull of rounds to bring the weapon to operating temps. I usually apply a second and third coat after several rounds. After you complete this process, the militec has become impregnated in the metals, and thus acting as a dry lubricant.
  20. Unlike some of these other guys, I will not check with the "Boss". I am the boss, and I do as I please, when I please. With that being said, I'm going to make every attempt at being at this meet. I have a new AR that needs some breakin' in.
  21. It's Ok--We know you're a truck driver. The expectations are low. Young man McCain.
  22. Here's some of the best 5 minutes and 31 seconds of problem solving known to man. [ame] [/ame]
  23. Your best bet would be to call around. Being in Columbia, I'd start with Guns & Leather and Bellshires Hardware. I'm sure there are others, but they are about the cheapest I've been able to find in this area.
  24. No, that's not mine. It was just a picture I found a while back while surfing the net. I don't know anyone who's used pink, but I know a few guys who've used blue, orange, and yellow DuraCoat for a similar look.
  25. No problem.
