stiff action on a Marlin Golden 39a
TripleDigitRide replied to a topic in Gunsmithing & Troubleshooting
I'm a big fan of Militec-1. Just remember, it's heat activated. In the short term, just to loosen things up, I'm not sure it'll be the answer to your problem. -
Has anyone tried this method for "coating" a gun, or anything else for that matter? I don't know a lot about the process, but I did pick up some blank/plain ATV parts (fenders and such) in Canada and delivered them to some place in Michigan where this Water Transfer Printing was beig done. They allowed me to walk through the shop to see how the process worked. It was actually very interesting. They had huge immersion tanks that appeared to be filled with nothing but water. They would submerge the plain ATV parts into the the immersion tanks, and when they pulled them out the parts would covered in a perfect camo pattern. It was pretty amazing. They did other paterns, but camo is what they happened to be working on at the time. I didn't have a chance to really talk to anyone about the process, but I suspect that there was some type of water soluble film that was floated in the tank. I'm wondering if this is the same process used by manufacturers of store bought guns that are already camoed. Here's a link to someone who was advertising on Craigslist. There is some real neat work. http://www.dipdoctors.com/Gallery.php

Found this as well. Volunteer Enterprises Volunteer Carbine ( Early round upper ) Greasegun mags Volunteer Enterprises Volunteer Carbine ( Later square upper ) Greasegun mags Commando Arms Commando Mark III ( Square upper ) Greasegun mags Commando Arms Commando Mark 45 ( Square upper ) Thompson mags Commando Arms Commando Mark 9 ( Square upper ) Greasegun mags Manchester Arms Commando Mark 45 ( Square upper ) Thompson mags Manchester Arms Commando Mark 9 ( Square upper ) Sten mags Manchester Arms Mini Commando 45 Pistol ( Square upper ) Thompson mags Manchester Arms Mini Commando 9 Pistol ( Square upper ) Sten mags Also it should be noted that the Thompson mags have been modified by elongating the magazine catch for the Commando's. They were opened up towards the top of the mag catch hole. So if you were to use one of these mags in a Thompson you would need to push up on the mag in order for it to feed properly. If your Commando uses Greasegun mags your frame is aluminum, Thompson and Sten mags have Thermoplastic frames.

I also found this. I'm no expert, so I can not claim it to be factual. Their sheet metal clones of the tommy gun included Commando Mark III using M3 grease gun clips, Mark V using Thompson clips, Mark 9 in 9mm and an improved Mark V called Mark 45. Notice the bolt handle is on the LEFT side of the receiver. Weight was about eight pounds (compared to eleven for the Thompson). Volunteers Enterprises sold magazines in five-shot, thirty-shot and three thirties welded in a Y configuration.

Any word on the Magpul MBUS?
TripleDigitRide replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Thanks for the info, guys. I really need/want a set of BUIS, but I think I'm gonna try my best to wait for these. Based on the pictures in this thread, they look to be slightly more "bulky" that I'd like, but it's somewhat difficult to tell in the pictures. I'm still leaning towards the Troy BUIS, for double the price. -

That was my first thought, too. Ob the other hand, Magpul generally doesn't allow less than par products out of their factory. From my experiences anyway. -

Well, I think that's less than a month out, so I think I'll hold off on BUIS until I hear more about those. Thanks. -

New gun store in 100 Oaks area of Nashville
TripleDigitRide replied to Volzfan's topic in General Chat
I stopped by Guns For America, yesterday, and they were a great bunch of guys. Actually, they're some of the nicest guys you'd ever find working in a gun shop. I hope to see them around for a long time. -
Why trek all the way to East TN, when you have Kickers right there is Clarksvegas? Never any shortage of "hogs" in there.

He's from Memphis. Cut him some slack.

Thanks for the heads-up!

Is everyone else seeing the messed up HTML code in that article, or is it just me?

Hickory Hollow and Rivergate! They are products of their locations. It's a shame.

My thought's, exactly.

Sounds like an interesting idea, but turning a regular staircase into one which a section can be lifted is no easy task, and not likely one that can be done in one day.

I understand your frustrations, but you'll just have to be patient with them. I'm sure they are doing the best they can. Just about every company who's dealing with firearms related merchandise has been experiencing the very same issues over the last several weeks. They are simply overwhelmed right now. You can thank Obama for all of this.

It could have easily been nothing more than a coincidence, but my truck quit running about 7-10 miles after filling up yesterday. After filling up, I drove straight to Jiffy Lube for an oil change. The truck was running perfectly until they began pulling it into the bay. It would stay running with starting fluid or beating on the bottom of the fuel tank while starting the truck. As soon as I quit beating the tank, the truck would die. It's now in the shop getting a new fuel pump. I replaced the pump about 4 years ago, so I'm not sure if it's gone bad again, or I managed to pick up a bunch of water and/or trash along the way. Whatever it is, I'm so happy this happened 2 weeks before Christmas. The timing couldn't be better.
