  1. Good luck. Not that you'll need it. It's a real cake walk. The most difficult part will be simply staying awake. Keep us posted.
  2. Thank you very much. Best wishes to you and yours!
  3. This thread really brings out the Christmas spirit.
  4. Yea, the MDE is not my type of gun, but for some strange reason he fell in love with it. He really wants something small enough to fit easily into his pocket. To me, it's a little pricey for such a little gun. And that's wherever you buy it.
  5. Had a real easy day at work. Now I'm ready to enjoy 5 days off. I've really been dreaming about the Dan Wesson CBOB 10mm. I want it. Bad!
  6. Because I received a message regarding my OP, I just wanted to clarify that I was NOT "bashing" GFA on their pricing of the Micro Desert Eagle. It's their store, and they're more than welcome (not that they need my permission) to charge whatever they want. As I've stated in another thread pertaining to GFA, they were some of the nicest guys I've ever met it a gun store. They couldn't have been more helpful to me and/or my friend. I've been in their store on two seperate occasions, and was more than pleased with the way I was treated. And just to be extra fair, out of the few places I've checked, GFA has been the cheapest on the Dan Wesson CBOB 10mm I've been looking at. I'm not sure any of this post was really necessary, but I didn't want it to come across as if I was "bashing" any vendor for their prices. I was more or less looking for any helpful information about the Micro Desert Eagle.
  7. As much as I hate to bring up the name...Voldemort?
  8. Yea, I really want to take a look at the final product. Based on some of the pictures, they seem to be a little thicker/taller than I'd like, but maybe they've shaved a little off for final production. I do like the idea, though.
  9. Thanks, Joe! He will be coming to see you soon. He has a couple wheel guns (no clue what they are) that he's looking to trade/sell/swap. Thanks again.
  10. Does anyone have any experience with this little .380? Heard anything about it? A friend of mine and I were in Guns For America today, and he fell in love with this ugly little thing. [EDITED]He decided to wait and stew over the thought of carrying a semi-auto. He's always been a wheel gun kinda guy. Technical Specifications: Model: Micro Desert Eagle Pistol Caliber: .380 Auto (9 mm Browning) Length: 4.52″ / 116 mm Height: 3.71″ / 95 mm Width: 0.90″ / 23 mm Length of the Barrel: 2.22″ / 57 mm Weight Empty: 14 oz / 400 grams Magazine Capacity: 6-Rounds Trigger Mechanism: DAO Safety: DAO Sights: Fixed/Non-Adjustable MSRP $535.00
  11. Very nice. My Father has one, but IIRC, the grips on his are a lighter shade and they say Colt on them. Not sure of the difference. Same box and all.
  12. Honestly, I'd like to think I'm worth what I get paid. Can they find someone who's willing to do my job for less, I'm sure. This is especially true during these tough times. That's going to be a major issue when these folks who've recently been layed off try to find another job. Most of these companies know that most people applying for jobs are likely to be quite desperate, and any money is better than no money. They know they can offer lesser pay and many people are going to be willing to take the job, even if they will be making far less than before. When I found my local truck driving job about 6 years ago, these jobs were everywhere. I'm lucky enough to have one of the highest paying (non-union) local trucking jobs in the Nashville area, but these jobs are not nearly as easy to find these days. If I lost my job, I'm fairly confident that I'd be forced to take a substantial pay cut. And that's assuming I could find one at all. As far as the union workers go, their gravy train is about to run out of track. The bailout is only a very small band-aid on a very large problem. The Ford Glass Plant off Briley Pkwy. is a perfect example as to what's likely to happen with the rest of that UAW. That plant was hanging on by a thread for a very long time, and no matter what they tried to do, they couldn't prevent the inevitable. I have two very close friends who've worked over there for years, and now they are in serious financial troubles. They were making roughly $100K/year, and now they'll be lucky to find a $10/hr job. Both of them barely finished high school, and always had this crazy notion that this $100K/year job that they just so happened to stumble upon would be there forever. On top of that, they also thought that even if it didn't last, they could find another one just like it. I feel bad for them and anyone else like them. Unfortunately, they didn't listen to Dave Ramsey, because like all too many folks these days, they were up to their eyeballs in debt. Before it's all over, they will have lost everything they own. Reality bites, especially for those who refuse to see the writing on the wall.
  13. Just missing my rugbrat and being lazy. She will be gone for the entire Christmas break, so I guess I better get used to it.
  14. But for the price? How about, But for the name?
  15. I'm a big fan of Militec-1. Just remember, it's heat activated. In the short term, just to loosen things up, I'm not sure it'll be the answer to your problem.
  16. Has anyone tried this method for "coating" a gun, or anything else for that matter? I don't know a lot about the process, but I did pick up some blank/plain ATV parts (fenders and such) in Canada and delivered them to some place in Michigan where this Water Transfer Printing was beig done. They allowed me to walk through the shop to see how the process worked. It was actually very interesting. They had huge immersion tanks that appeared to be filled with nothing but water. They would submerge the plain ATV parts into the the immersion tanks, and when they pulled them out the parts would covered in a perfect camo pattern. It was pretty amazing. They did other paterns, but camo is what they happened to be working on at the time. I didn't have a chance to really talk to anyone about the process, but I suspect that there was some type of water soluble film that was floated in the tank. I'm wondering if this is the same process used by manufacturers of store bought guns that are already camoed. Here's a link to someone who was advertising on Craigslist. There is some real neat work. http://www.dipdoctors.com/Gallery.php
  17. We wish her and the family the very best.
  18. Found this as well. Volunteer Enterprises Volunteer Carbine ( Early round upper ) Greasegun mags Volunteer Enterprises Volunteer Carbine ( Later square upper ) Greasegun mags Commando Arms Commando Mark III ( Square upper ) Greasegun mags Commando Arms Commando Mark 45 ( Square upper ) Thompson mags Commando Arms Commando Mark 9 ( Square upper ) Greasegun mags Manchester Arms Commando Mark 45 ( Square upper ) Thompson mags Manchester Arms Commando Mark 9 ( Square upper ) Sten mags Manchester Arms Mini Commando 45 Pistol ( Square upper ) Thompson mags Manchester Arms Mini Commando 9 Pistol ( Square upper ) Sten mags Also it should be noted that the Thompson mags have been modified by elongating the magazine catch for the Commando's. They were opened up towards the top of the mag catch hole. So if you were to use one of these mags in a Thompson you would need to push up on the mag in order for it to feed properly. If your Commando uses Greasegun mags your frame is aluminum, Thompson and Sten mags have Thermoplastic frames.
  19. I also found this. I'm no expert, so I can not claim it to be factual. Their sheet metal clones of the tommy gun included Commando Mark III using M3 grease gun clips, Mark V using Thompson clips, Mark 9 in 9mm and an improved Mark V called Mark 45. Notice the bolt handle is on the LEFT side of the receiver. Weight was about eight pounds (compared to eleven for the Thompson). Volunteers Enterprises sold magazines in five-shot, thirty-shot and three thirties welded in a Y configuration.
  20. I'm not sure if you've already looked, or if you would even be interested, but here is one for sale. http://gunbroker.com/Auction/ViewItem.asp?Item=118688538
  21. Sorry to hear about your loss. RIP
  22. Check with Hero Gear.
  23. Thanks for the info, guys. I really need/want a set of BUIS, but I think I'm gonna try my best to wait for these. Based on the pictures in this thread, they look to be slightly more "bulky" that I'd like, but it's somewhat difficult to tell in the pictures. I'm still leaning towards the Troy BUIS, for double the price.
  24. That was my first thought, too. Ob the other hand, Magpul generally doesn't allow less than par products out of their factory. From my experiences anyway.
  25. Well, I think that's less than a month out, so I think I'll hold off on BUIS until I hear more about those. Thanks.
