Charlie, over at CHMR is probably one of the nicest guys you'll ever meet. Charlie was an amazing help while teaching my daughter how to shoot. He really knows his stuff. It's well worth the $40/year.

The bike had to be lifted off of him. His legs were pinned under the bike at least part of the way down the hill.

I found this on another forum, and because I know some TGO members visit "The Dragon", I thought I'd share. So how well does a Hog float? - KatRiders.com I headed off to ride the dragon from CROT (Deals Gap Motor Inn at the cross of 129 and 28) on our own for our first scout run. Took our time, and went all the way down to tabcat's bridge at the north end. There is a large, newly paved pull over spot there and we stopped to stretch and chat for a moment before heading back south bound on the dragon. Great ride! Shortly after we stopped, a fully dressed Harley comes down the hill headed north... and pulls in to turn around. As he pulls in, he gets too close to the edge of the paved area and his front wheel dropps off. Now, this paticular spot is pretty thick pavement, and the dirt shoulder is slightly slanted downhill as well. So when the front wheel hit the dirt... his engine bars hit the pavement and that pretty much bounces the bike to roll over. No way he could have stopped it at this point from rolling over, but the guy trys and ends up in the saddle as it rolls over on top of him. Did I mention this shoulder is also only a few feet wide before a near sheer drop?

So, we should't consider taking away your HCP and DL when you turn 65 or so? You know how those ol' blue hairs can be.

NRA-ILA :: Clearing Up the Rumors: The Truth About The ?Gun Tax Bill? Clearing Up the Rumors: The Truth About The “Gun Tax Bill” Friday, May 29, 2009 In the last few weeks, NRA-ILA has received hundreds of e-mails warning us about “SB-2099,” a bill that would supposedly require you to report all your guns on your income tax return every April 15. Like many rumors, there’s just a grain of truth to this one. Someone’s recycling an old alert, which wasn’t even very accurate when it was new. There actually was a U.S. Senate bill with that number that would have taxed handguns—nine years ago. It was introduced by anti-gun Sen. Jack Reed (D-R.I.), and it would have included handguns under the National Firearms Act’s tax and registration scheme. This has nothing to do with anyone’s Form 1040, of course. Fortunately, S. 2099 disappeared without any action by the Senate, back when Bill Clinton was still in the White House. We reported about it back then, just as we report about new anti-gun bills every week. Now, it’s time for gun owners to drop this old distraction and focus on the real threats at hand.

Why join NRA?..."controlled oposition"

You are 100% correct. I should have chosen my words more carefully. Unfortunately, the Constitution means far too little to far too many. Even more Unfortunate, too many of them are in power. With a country so devided, the chances of any of this changing in the near future are almost none. Not peacefully anyway. -

Not compromising only works if you have something to back it up if/when things don't go your way. And that "something" better scare the hell out of your opposition. Better yet, that somthing better be able to destroy your opposition. I'm not sure I've seen any evidence of anything that fits that description as of yet. Without it, chance are you'll be left standing there with a dumbfounded look on your face, and far less rights than you may have had if you decided to compromise. It's a touchy situation, and I'm far from having all the answers. Seems to me, more pressure needs to be put on the NRA. If enough paying members are willing to take a stand against the NRA for their willingness to play softball, maybe they will understand that many folks want them to take a tougher stance against these politicians when it comes to our Second Amendment Rights. If the NRA were to begin taking a tougher stance, you must be willing to accept the outcome. There's always a possibility the laws would begin to lean more in our favor, but there's an equal possibility we could lose even more of our rights. Then what? It's a gamble that many are simply not willing to take. -
That was a step up from his red Viper. He was nice enough to let me squeeze my fat ass into his Viper and sit on his custom Harley. He wasn't nice enough to take either for a spin, but I wasn't about to complain.

Let us know how losing ALL of your rights works out for you, because that's what often happens when you break firearms relate laws. If you feel so strongly about not compromising, where's the next revolutionary war? I'm far from saying that I'm happy with all of the decisions that have been made by our elected officials and/or the NRA, but without compromise, we would likely has far fewer rights than we currently have. There are very few aspects of our lives where compromise isn't necessary, and this is one of them. Until you/I/we have absolute control over the decision making progress, there are very few options -- compromise or revolution are the only two that really come to mind. And I can't say I've seen too many of the "compromise is not an option" crowd doing much more than bitching on Internet forums. I don't like it anymore than the next guy, but the American people have chosen these processes in which the way our country is operated. Until something changes, we live with what we have, like it or not. -

My comment wasn't meant to be a personal attack against you or any other member of TGO. A willingness to compromise is a willingness to compromise. Weather you compromise 5% or 95%, you're still compromising. You said, "I disagree with those in this thread who have said we sometimes must compromise." I'm saying that you (and many others who say the very same thing) can not honestly beleive that. You do in fact compromise on a regular basis when it comes to firearms related laws. Of course, this is assuming you are a law abiding citizen. You may not like the fact that you're being forced to compromise everytime they pass another BS gun law, but if you are obeying the law, you have already compromised. To not compromise would mean that you completely disregard any laws which you believe to be "God-given" or "birthrights", and live your life as you see fit. And that's where my "I would like to think we have a much smarter crowd here on TGO" comment comes into play. If you obey laws even though you may not agree with them, you are probably in the "smarter crowd". If you disobey the laws, the shoe probably fits. Of course, this is nothing more than my opinion. -
What a shame. I'm not a country music fan, but Kix and Ronnie are two of the nicest guys you'd ever meet. And they were one of very few country acts I really liked. I've spent lots of time with both of them, as well as their immediate and extended families. You'd be hard-pressed to find a better group of folks. Even with all their fame and money, they never treated anyone as if they were a lower-class citizen. Not that I ever saw, anyway. I'm sure we'll hear from them again, sooner or later.

I'm trying to understand what you're saying, but when I see people make such a statement, I can't help but wonder just how strongly they really feel about not compromising. I could be way off, but the way I see it is, if you honestly believe these are non-negotiable, God given rights, you surely couldn't bring yourself to follow the laws which were implemented by way of a compromise. That would be an act of compromise in itself. How many are willing to lose their families, everything they've worked for, their freedom, all because they don't believe in compromise? I would like to think we have a much smarter crowd here on TGO. -

Not supporting the NRA simply because they aren't perfect is not a very good idea, in my opinion. The NRA is far better than nothing, and has accomplished more than any other organizations. I'll be the first to admit, I wish they would take a tougher stance at times, but even I'm wise enough to understand that sometimes certian situations require a little finesse and compromise. I'm with those who feel the Second Amendment is a right, not a mere privilege granted to us underlings. On the other hand, we must realize that all too many of those who create our laws don't feel the same. They ultimately have the power to take away EVERYTHING, and that is where the NRA comes in handy. At least they are making attempts at helping us keep some of our Second Amendment rights. Rather than being upset with the NRA, it may be more beneficial being upset with those who are trying their damndest to strip us of more and more of our rights, and those who've elected them, giving them the opportunity to do so. When it come to our Second Amendment rights, the NRA is only a lobbying organization. They can't force anything, and they sure as heck can't pass the laws themselves. And they undoubtedly accomplish a whole lot more than most of those who complain about what the NRA isn't doing. Chances are, complaining is about all most are doing. You can't expect to pay your membership fees and forget about it. NRA members still need to make it a point to contact their Representatives, and let them know how YOU feel. Push YOUR weight around a little. The more constituents they hear from, the better. Even though the NRA represents many people, they are still only one voice. Let yourself be heard. As I've stated before, I'm not always happy with their decision making processes, but I will continue to support the NRA. I will also make it a point to personally be heard. -
Yea, those men and women have a brutal job. I was outside, in the shade, wearing a t-shirt, and I was about to die. I couldn't imagine being covered in all that gear so close to the heat from the fire. Can you say heat stroke? Very nice pictures, by the way.

BTW, it's probably not garbage. With a little cleaning, it's probably worth a few bucks to someone who loads shotshells.
