  1. Well, I stopped by Greene's to take a look at some options. The best two that I found were the Bates GX8 (#2268) and the 5.11 ATAC Storm. Both seemed to be of good quality, but because of fit, the Bates edged out the 5.11. The Bates fit more snug around my foot, and the 5.11's seemed as if they were made for a wider foot. I'm going to give it a little more thought, but I think the GX8 is going to be the way to go for me.
  2. I'm a local company driver. Most of your OTR companies will not allow you to carry a firearm because they never know where you'll be going. Plus, they are scared to death that you'll wanna shoot your lying-ass dispatcher:D. This especially going to be true of the companies that are willing to hire you right out of a CDL school. I can't think of one that doesn't have 'No Firearms' policy. Once you have some experience (generally 1-year+), you may be able to find a firearms friendly company to work for. That's not too easy to do when it comes to the world of OTR trucking.
  3. Only 6 people? We can do better than that.
  4. Nope. No law(s) against carrying in a commercial vehicle. Carry on, my friend. If it makes you feel any better, I carry on a daily basis in my commercial vehicle (18-wheeler), and cross the TN and KY scales on a regular basis. No worries.
  5. Not likely to happen when dealing with a company like Seecamp, but you never know. I wouldn't be able to resist. I require a little more peace of mind.
  6. Yea! That way you'll never know they just sent you a box of lead fishing weights.
  7. Just fairly? Care to expound?
  8. If your boss says it's Ok and you have an HCP, you're good to go. And FYI, it is NOT against the law for those of us with CDL's to carry while on the job. As long as we have an HCP and aren't driving somewhere where firearms are prohibited or a state that does not recognize TN's HCP, we are good to go. There is NO law that says truck drivers can't carry firearms.
  9. Don't forget to send me my finders fee.
  10. True. But that sounds like a whole lot of work, and the few bucks I'll save probably isn't worth my precious time. Plus, I need an excuse to ride the bike to Winchester.
  11. I'll probably just shell out the cash for a quality product at Hero-Gear. They have some Bates and Magnum Elites that I think I may like. I'm quite picky about my footwear, so buying online really isn't an option. My girlfriend will enjoy the Zappos.com site, though.
  12. I appreciate the offer, but I'll likely need a size 13.
  13. I'm guessing that's an option David would have to enable so you could edit your topic.
  14. I've used a 10/22 with a Timney trigger, and it was a very nice feeling trigger. No experience with one on an AR platform. I'm sure it's equally as nice. Worth the money? Well, I opted for the Rock River Arms 2-stage. So, no, it wasn't worth it for me.
  15. Yea, I will check Greenes. I somehow forgot about them. Yea, I will check Greenes. I somehow forgot about them. I looked at the Harley boots, but they didn;t have any in the styles I was looking for. Plus, I'd hate to be the poser who wears harley boots while riding my Jap bike. I was just looking at the Hero-Gear website. They have some that may foot the bill. Still pushing the $100 mark, but we'll see. If I wasn't in such a hurry today, I would have stopped by there while running my route. Maybe that will give me an excuse to ride the bike to Winchester. I looked at some Herman Survivors at Wal-Mart, but the quality didn't seem to be what they once were. Mainly the sole. Looked and felt cheap. The price was tempting, though. On the other hand, you often get what you pay for.
  16. Anyone know where I can find reasonably priced LEO/Military-type boots, locally? I plan on using the as riding (motorcycle) boots, so I'd like them to be waterproof and comfortable. Not really interested in the basic combat boots. I've seen some that would work, but I'd rather not spend $100+, if I can help it.
  17. You always have the option of not reading the threads related to Frank. That's usually what I do if a thread doesn't interest me.
  18. I wasn't trying to give him a hard time. All these people are out lots of hard earned money, and I'm sure they would appreciate any and all answers they can get at this time. If any of you were out your hard-earned money, I doubt you'd be nearly as eager to stand up and defend Frank, in any capacity. I don't condone physical violence, but I'm sure people are upset and looking to vent some of there frustrations by way of posting on these forums. I think most of us can say we've acted in a similar fashion at one time or another, especially when it comes to being ripped off.
  19. It very well may be. I'm not that familiar those type of firearms. If it were mine, I think I'd remove the barrel just to see if there were any markings on the underside.
  20. Sweet! The feelings you experience while in Wal-Mart can be shared with countless others who were once new to the world of HCP's. It' will soon become more natural, and you won't give it a second thought. Before you know it, you'll forget that you even have a gun strapped to your hip.. Enjoy!
  21. Also, I did read something that talked about removing the barrel and check the bottom side of the barrel for markings.
  22. That's going to be the problem with identifying the gun. Based on what I've been reading, many folks made other modifications when doing the conversion. This was their way of "sporterizing" back in the day. They would remove parts, cut barrels and stock, etc. So, the gun you have now, may look very little like it did in its original condition.
  23. How about a picture of the end of the barrel/stock.
  24. I lived in the Cookeville area for a while, but I had a similar problem. There were jobs to be had back then, but none of them wanted to pay worth a damn. I had no choice but to leave for much more money. I deliver to several flooring stores and cabinet shops that may be looking for help, but since you're in school during the day, that probably wouldn't help much either.
