  1. Gun shows and gun shops are probably not the only places this is happening. It could possibly be happening right here on TGO. Not only does the buyer need to beware, so does the seller.
  2. I always thought if the sale/purchase was between two private citizens, there are no taxes, even if an FFL is used to make the transfer.
  3. No taxes, unless the seller is a business. Just transfer and background check.
  4. I was talking with someone the other day, and was interested in the fact that there is currently a book being written about the great Ronnie Barrett of Barrett Firearms Manufacturing. Chances are, many of us have heard of Ronnie Barrett, and maybe know a little about his past. But if you're like me, you never gave much thought about "who" the man really is, or where he came from. After reading a little at Wikipedia: Ronnie Barrett, I'm quite anxious to learn more about him. I had no clue about how the Barrett 50 cal. was born. A pretty interesting story.
  5. Yea, I misread your original post. I looked right past the "Nashville area".
  6. Many gun shops should be able to help you. Many advertise "Appraisals" as something they offer to their customers.
  7. Well, she does sing about Gun Powder and Lead.
  8. Reminds me of a wrecker company that had the slogan, "Support Your Local Hookers".
  9. Ain't that the truth.

  11. Save your pennies, because it's not until next weekend.

  13. I've seen a .357 go through the back of a couch, 2 walls, the back of a dresser, a dresser drawer full of clothing, and into the front of the dresser drawer. Not sure it would have gone much further, but the only thing that prevented it from doing so was the decorative metal plate that the drawer handle was connected to.
  14. Fuuny, cause I thought the same exact thing. I thought I heard something about the company going out of business or possibly moving to another area of Middle Tennessee, but I can't say for sure. I do know that a son (Richard Hall) of the owner owned a trucking company (Hall Farms) that would haul the cattle to the slaughterhouse, but last I heard he was put out of business by the Fed's for some type of illegal activity. I wish I would have been man enough to turn them in for their wrongdoings, but I was only 18 and desperate to keep the job.
  15. When I was about 18, I worked a short time at Tennessee Dressed Beef, a slaughterhouse that was (maybe still) in the Nashville area. It is quite shocking how the animals and meat are treated and handled. I would witness the owners Grandson torture injured cattle. He would often hold 2 electrified cattle prods on the injured cattles head and face for a lengthy period of time. He would get off on watching the muscles in the face and body convulse. He would also shove a 2"-3" high-pressure water hose into the vagina and/or rectum of the injured cattle, and proceed to turn on the water at full-power. Unbelievably disturbing, this guy was. I don't think I saw anyone else who was willing to fight over the 20 gauge shotgun when it came time to put injured cattle out of their misery. And this was before the cattle was rounded up to go inside the building for slaughter. After watching the entire slaughter process, from start to finish, I couldn't help buy wonder how the meat could be safe ot eat. The cattle would be trucked in from all over the country, almost always covered in feces and urine from the long trips. They would then slosh around in holding areas also filled with feces and urine. And this is how they would enter the slaughterhouse. I did see some halfhearted attempts at rinsing them off, but even a city slicker like myself could tell that this process was hardly adequate. But in the end, after being witness to all the grossness, I still love me some red meat. And I think those Bubba Burgers are some good shiznit. Maybe literally.
  16. Because so many people are now selling their possessions simply to survive, some people are feeding off of that. And maybe that's all it's worth to him/her. I guess it doesn't hurt to ask. All you have to do is say "NO". I wouldn't sweat it.

  21. I've never been, and plan on doing my best to make this one. Would make for a nice bike ride.
  22. I'll be there. I'll even bring you the shirt that I know will fit my rotund self, and you can charge me whatever you want to have it made. Paying in advance is also no problem.
  23. I've always kept a shotgun and handgun sitting next to the bed when I'm sleeping. How old is the child?
  24. On your hip. Or somewhere out of their reach.
