http://www.wkrn.com/global/story.asp?s=11427126 Soldier arrested after C-4 explosives found Posted: Nov 02, 2009 11:50 AM CST Updated: Nov 02, 2009 3:00 PM CST CLARKSVILLE, Tenn. - An Army Special Forces soldier has been arrested following the discovery of about 100 pounds of explosives at his Tennessee home. Federal and military officials searched his home early Monday morning after a pair of hunters found the C-4, a plastic explosive, in a field off Johnson Road outside Clarksville. The soldier, who was not identified, is based at nearby Ft. Campbell. Maj. April Olsen, a spokeswoman for Army Special Forces at Ft. Campbell, said the soldier is currently being held in the county jail. Ted Denny, spokesman for the Montgomery County sheriff, said the explosives found Sunday appeared to be military ordnance. More information is expected later Monday afternoon. *The Associated Press contributed to this report.

Probably true, but I'm not allowed to work on my vehicle where I live. I'll see how much it would cost to have put in.
-
I may try to flush it again. If that doesn't work, I'll just deal with it.
-
Yea, it's an F-150. I tried flushing the system last winter, but it didn't seem to help much. I am trying not to invest a ton of money because I plan on getting rid of it fairly soon.
-
Isn't there something the police can do about this?

Anyone have any good recommendations? The heat in my truck isn't all that great, so I thought about buying one of these to help keep warm. I don't want to install a power 12-volt power strip, so I'll have to stay away from the 984749875409876549 watt models. Wal-Mart has a 180 Watt model for about $25, but I have no idea if that would do the job or not.

yea, the salesguy that came to my door was the same way. I don't recall the exact numbers, but one of the "perks" he mentioned was a $100 gift card of some sort. Well, when I called AT&T's customer service line with a few more questions, they told me the gift card was $200 or $250. I guess the salesguy is allowed to pocket that money if he can get away with it, because he didn't even mention it until the very end of our conversation, when he realized I wasn't really interested in switching to AT&T right there on the spot.

I'm pretty sure you're only allowed 2 HD streams, max, with U-Verse.
-
Probably not.

I thought about switching to AT&T from Comcast, but I decided against it for a few reasons. Based on my current plan with Comcast, AT&T was only going to save me $15 a month. Remember to add in the taxes and other charges. The main reason I decided to stay with Comcast was, the technology, IPTV. If one of your services (Internet, Phone, TV) goes out, all of them go out. They are all run on the same system. After talking to a few people who made the switch, I wasn't crazy about the installation times. Almost 4 hours for one, about 5 hours for the second, and nearly 8 hours for the last person. From what I understand, the installation time can vary greatly depending on the age of your house. Another thing that bothered me was, they don't have any offices in the Middle Tennessee area. Comcast has several offices scattered all over the place. If your equipment quit working and you didn't want to wait 2 or 3 days for a new one, you can take it to the Comcast office for an exchange. Not so with AT&T. Because AT&T has no offices in the area, you have to give them your credit card info to hold on record. This is to ensure that you return the equipment should you move and/or cancel your service. You don't have to do that with Comcast. There were a few other things, but I can't remember them right now.

How Detroit, the Motor City, turned into a ghost town
TripleDigitRide replied to TMMT's topic in General Chat
I'm pretty sure this is the same thing Michael Moore reported 20-years-ago when Roger & Me came out in 1989. It's difficult for me to be surprised now. -

During his research, Samsung in general was often at the top. You could probably find a Samsung without the steam option. Probably cheaper, too.

My parents are on their second set of front-load washer and dryer. The first set was a Whirlpool, and the purchase was made with very little research. According to my father, this was a huge mistake. The Whirlpool set was nothing but trouble. To be fair, the Whirlpool set was purchased some time ago when the front-load washers were just coming to the market. This time, when they decided it was time for a new set, my father spent nearly a month and a half researching every option on the market. Everything pointed to the Samsung with Silvercare. Washer model number: 195027 Dryer model number: 195030 (Electric) He said that these are the stainless versions, but Samsung offered the same set in other color options, and the prices were a little cheaper. My stepmother just had to have stainless. They have now had the set for about 7 months, and not a single issue. According to him, this set does clean and dry far better, has much, much less vibration and noise (a common issue with many front-load washers), and very easy to operate. He did also mention that this set was towards the top of the price spectrum. And worth every penny.

What is your price range? You can spend anywhere from about $1500 to about $3000 for a set.

That's real darn fast, based on some of the numbers I've seen. Watch out, Wal-Mart shoppers. -

Nevermind. After reading This Page, I want nothing to do with NACA. -
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE CORPORATION OF AMERICA (NACA)

I had a similar thought when I first visited the website. Being a single father who's never received a penny in child support or financial assistance of any kind (private or governmental), I sure wouldn't mind someone helping me get the best deal possible on my first home. I wouldn't be looking for free handouts or something that could negatively effect others, so I wanted to make sure I wasn't getting myself into something like that. -
NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE CORPORATION OF AMERICA (NACA)
TripleDigitRide replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
The Neighborhood Assistance Corporation of America ("NACA") is a non-profit, community advocacy and homeownership organization. NACA’s primary goal is to build strong, healthy neighborhoods in urban and rural areas nationwide through affordable homeownership. NACA has made the dream of homeownership a reality for working people by counseling them honestly and effectively with far better terms than those provided even in the prime market. I honestly know very little about them. I recently met someone who took advantage of their services and was more than impressed. I didn't get many details, so I thought I'd try to find someone else who may be able to shed some light. -

Anyone ever worked with this group or have any inside info about them? NEIGHBORHOOD ASSISTANCE CORPORATION OF AMERICA (NACA) -
Yes. Perfectly legal. That is according to the woman I spoke with at MATA. Same for the Nashville area - perfectly legal to carry on MTA busses.

Are automatic knives legal in Tn
TripleDigitRide replied to Joe86's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
I'm pretty sure there is a law on the books that says civilians are not allowed to carry automatic knives. However, assisted opening are legal. I actually prefer the assisted over automatic. I could be wrong, but I'm fairly sure someone at Hero-Gear explained it that way to me. -
I couldn't take him seriously with all that cigarette smoke billowing across the screen.

The Colonel looks quite strapping for a 119-year-old dead guy.
