FOXNews.com - Health Care Mandate Applies to All -- Except the Amish Health Care Mandate Applies to All -- Except the Amish Most Americans would have to prove they have insurance or face a fine under the health reform legislation that is now nearing the finish line in Congress, but at least one group won't have to worry, on religious grounds. Democrats are planning to exempt the Amish and similar religious groups from the health insurance mandate in the final health care bill. That's because when the Amish need medical care, they go to regular doctors and hospitals and pay in cash often with financial help from their church and neighbors. They rely on each other, not the government or insurance companies as a tenet of their faith. "The Amish believe it's the fundamental responsibility of the church to care for the material needs of the members of the church," said Steven Nolt, a professor at Goshen College who has written books on the Plain community of Amish. "And so they don't buy commercial health insurance and they don't participate in public assistance programs." So while most Americans would be required to sign up with insurance companies or government insurance plans, the church would serve as something of an informal insurance plan for the Amish. Law experts say that kind of exemption withstands scrutiny. "Here the statue is going to say that people who are conscientiously opposed to paying for health insurance don't have to do it where the conscientious objection arises from religion," said Mark Tushnet a Harvard law professor. "And that's perfectly constitutional." This would not be the first time the Amish received this type of special accommodation. Congress exempted this and other communities from Social Security and Medicare taxes since 1965 for the same religious reasons. But if the Amish can opt out, then some civil libertarians say they want out, too -- not for religious reasons but because they don't think the underlying health insurance mandate is legal. "If they can do it for religious objection, well, I have a different type of objection," said Ilya Shapiro, a senior fellow in constitutional studies at the libertarian Cato Institute said. "I think I'm being coerced into doing something against my will, and so the challenge would be from a different perspective."

I got mine out for a couple hours yesterday, and again today. Was a little chilly without the cold weather gear, but it was still enjoyable.

This is the show that was once held at the 'Expo' in Smyrna. I've never been in the new building in Murfreesboro, but I have a customer directly across the street, and it looks like a large building from the outside.

Jay Leno has been a scumbag since before he replaced Johnny Carson. Jay was/is a decent stand-up comedian, but sucks as The Tonight Show host. Many of his bits are rip-offs of far more original and funny TV and radio hosts. Remember, like all other late-night shows, there is a staff of writers who come up with the funny stuff. Jay isn't coming up with this stuff himself, and as far as I'm concerend, he doesn't have the personality to pull it off as well as other hosts. The fact that people in the "business" are coming out of the woodwork and openly bashing Jay for his robotic personality and unoriginal show content really says a lot to me - he really sucks. Jay has stayed on top of the ratings throughout the years only because he was blessed by the great lead-in shows on NBC. If it wasn't for the great prime-time programming on NBC, he would have had a chance. Once Jay moved time-slots, it didn't take long for local NBC affiliates to start raising a huge stink. Those lead-in shows are so important to the ratings process, and Jay wasn't cutting it. NBC affiliates all over the country quickly began to notice sharp declines in prime-time news ratings, and many at far as threatening to take Jay's show off their channel and replace it with something else that would keep viewers tuned in for the local news. If Jay, himself, was such a huge draw, none of this would have ever happened, and NBC wouldn't now be forced to move him to a later time-slot. It's all about the money, and Jay was causing local NBC affiliates to lose millions in ad revenue. As far as Conan goes, he never really stood a chance in taking over The Tonight Show. Even though he became host of The Tonight Show - the biggest late-night show around - NBC still continued to give Jay the big name guests used to boost ratings, even though he was no longer in the prime time-slot. NBC screwed this up, and the writing was on the wall from the very beginning. There was no way this was going to work like they had hoped. Now the question is, will they be able to make a quick recovery from this debacle? I say no. This has got to be the biggest programming blunder of the century, and it will take a lot to get back to where they were before. I wouldn't be surprised if Jay never gets the same type of ratings as he did in his original time-slot.

I've always considered Jeff Buckley's rendition to be the best, but this one is pretty damn amazing.

Anyone know what's going on at Guns & Leather? Just drove past G&L and saw emergency crews all over the parking lot and side of the road.

Delaware man charged $21,000 at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club - but only wanted a $300 lap dance 21 grand, the least you could hope for is an unforgettable lap dance. A Delaware man who says he has no memory of a big night at Larry Flynt's Hustler Club is suing the West Side skin joint, saying he racked up more than $21,000 on two credit cards when all he wanted was a $300 lap dance. Gerard Wall, 39, swears he doesn't remember a thing after he agreed to charge his American Express card for a topless bump-and-grind in a private room. "Plaintiff submitted his American Express card for a $300 charge," says the suit filed in Manhattan Supreme Court. "He did not approve any other charges." By the time Wall left the Hustler Club at 10 p.m. on Dec. 12 - two drinks and a mere 90 minutes into his bosom bender - he was so blitzed, the lawsuit says, a club employee had to drive him home. When he woke up the next day, the suit says, Wall discovered he was missing $80 from his wallet - and sporting $21,620.60 in fresh charges to his American Express and Discover cards. Wall did not return calls, and his lawyer refused to comment. Calls to the club were not returned. His suit puts him in the company of other lap dunces who ended up in court after their good times at Manhattan strip clubs. The husband of a Bangladeshi diplomat sued Scores in 2004, charging that the club smacked him with a $129,626 credit-card bill when all he shelled out was $28,000. A Missouri CEO lost his job a year later when he put a $241,000 tab on his American Express card during a Scores outing, and was sued by the credit-card company for refusing to pay. jmartinez@edit.nydailynews.com Read more: http://www.nydailynews.com/ny_local/2010/01/12/2010-01-12_night_to_forget_at_highpriced_city_jiggle_joint.html#ixzz0cRyqwNVe

I prefer the Remington 870 with 18" barrel. The Mossberg series is worth looking at as well.
