Homeowners insurance: Changes to roof coverage
TripleDigitRide replied to TripleDigitRide's topic in General Chat
Yep, got the very same letter. I believe they are falling inline with other homeowner insurers. Tennessee Farm Bureau is a reputable company in my opinion. In addition, two or three years ago they dropped my earthquake rider policy and no longer insure for earthquakes. Living almost smack dab on top of the New Madrid fault line, I feel it's prudent to have coverage since the odd's of a big shaker are increasing. Funny thing is... To my knowledge, no American insurance company insures for earthquakes any longer. I had to insure with a foreign insurance company reinsured by Lloyd's of London?
Lloyds of London is a very common insurer within the trucking industry. -

I believe they base it on the quality (10 year, 20 year, etc.) of the shingle. They claim the professionals can tell ny simply looking at the shingles. -
I do appreciate the offer, fellas. I'm sure I'll need one for something else along the way. Until buying this house last year, my adult life has been spent living in apartments and condos. They were responsible for fixing everything, and they didn't allow tenants to work on their vehicles on premises, so I never had much need for more than a few basic hand tools. Since buying the house, I've built a work bench, bought a decent tool box, and have begun the process of accumulating the tools that every man should own. Sadly, my garage isn't as big as Harbor Freight. :D

Looks like I'm gonna have to invest in a torque wrench. I've put together a few lowers, but never an upper. That should change with the purchase of the TGO upper and lower.

What he said. Other than the name, that place is nothing like what made it famous.

If I remember correctly, the diamond on the grips date it to <1968.

Is the model number not inside the cylinder?

Homeowners insurance: Changes to roof coverage

I guess I need to get a roofer out here to tell me what quality of shingles I have and how much it would cost to replace the roof. This sounds like something that I'll need to plan ahead. It seems the deductible plus out of pocket expenses for shingles would be fairly substantial. -
Homeowners insurance: Changes to roof coverage

According to what I've been reading, due to the sever tornadoes, hail storms and floods in recent years, Farm Bureau has been paying out more money than they've brought in since 2008. I'm not sure how that compares to other insurance companies. -
I was wondering if other insurance companies have made similar changes. Farm Bureau sent me a letter to inform me that they have made changes to their coverage for replacing roofs has changed. Much like automobile insurance takes into account the actual cash value (deprecation), it appears Farm Bureau is doing the same thing where roof replacement is concerned. It appears they will still cover 100% of the labor costs, but are prorating the roofing materials. They will now be paying anywhere from 25% to 100%, depending on the age and type (quality) of the existing roofing materials. I am somewhat new to this whole homeowner thing, but I suspect builders don't worry about using top quality shingles. In return, this means higher out out expenses for the homeowner, in the event you need to file a claim for a damaged roof. Anyone else receiving similar letters from other insurance companies?

I spent some more time looking at his galleries, and I did spot a few that didn't appear quite up to par with the rest of his work. Maybe they were some of his first. -

Huh? :stunned: It may be brutal, but incredibly stupid is a bit much. -
I prefer a skeletonized trigger, but that is a very nice lookin' No Name. As Garufa said, just how they should look. Clean.

I haven't ordered anything yet, but I thought I'd pass this along. This guy does custom, made-to-order exotic grips, holsters, and other leather work. Because everything is made to order, he doesn't have any prices listed. I did get some rough ideas from him, and considering the time, effort, and what appears to be quality workmanship that goes into making these pieces, I think the prices are pretty good. If you go to the website and look for the USMC holster and Punisher holster, those were done for $150 and $125. The snake skin grips sell for about $125, or about $100 if you send him the grips to be covered. http://www.trinitygunleather.com/

I've thought about it, but after about 500-600 in a day, the fun begins to wear off for me. Best of luck to you guys. Be safe. -
Never done it myself, but I know someone who does. He sells it.

Congratulations to you and Mrs. Alleycat. A very wonderful thing both of you have decided to do. Are the children related to you?

I also use Chrome. It now works with the media tags. -
Are they actually paving, or possibly seal coating? I think Gypsies are more into seal coating. it's cheaper and easier, especially when they dilute the sealer with water. I had a neighbor who learned about Gypsies the hard way. He paid them (in advance) to paint his barn. When they left, it was "painted". Of course that was until it rained a few days later. I don't know exactly what they did, but it appeared that they likely watered down the paint.

Guilty. :yum:

As i will have to work within the rules given by Starbucks. Luckily, I followed their rules before they decided to implement them. It will be business as usual for me.

I think it's safe to assume that is very accurate. If the NRA is willing to give huge chunks of [my] money to venues who don't allow the carrying of firearms, I won't feel guilty for slurping down my caramel mocha frappuccinos. All while carrying my firearm. Concealed, of course.
