Guess I need to go ahead and get some pics up. I've been lazy so far, and now I apparently need to find a couple of half-naked hookers in order to up the ante...lol. ***Disclaimer: This post was not intended to imply that Magic's friends participate in any sort of illicit sexual activities in exchange for money or other goods and services. I just read that H&K was responsible for the A2 upgrades. Very nice...

It's a beast in SOCOM II, I can tell ya' that! Killed a lot of whiny, teenaged terrorists with that gun... As for real life, I'm a little surprised to hear that it's been more reliable than the M4 or the M16 in the sandbox. I thought that IW actually scrapped the project for awhile a few years back because they were having some SERIOUS reliability issues. Maybe they got all that worked out...

You start that thread, and I'll add to it this weekend. It can be a pr0n thread for all the Russian/Eastern European goodness out there...

Finally got mine back today! Woohoo! Pics forthcoming in a future thread! Another quality build by Shannon over at Coal Creek!

How hard is it to relocate an AR front sight?

+1 on the low-profile gas block. That's the cheapest and easiest route to take, and the tapered effect looks nice (IMHO). Here's my RRA middie with low-profile block and Specter-length YHM rail... -
Thanks for the report. I've heard nothing but positives from folks who have actually handled the new RTF2's, even though there's still a lot of skepticism from people who have only seen pics. I'm in line for a G23 RTF2 myself. Hope they make it out by the end of the year...

This is a good rule of thumb for ALL species, whether they be 2-legged, 4-legged, 8-legged, or no-legged...

I used to have a really neat setup in my truck, and I may be going back to that shortly. I bought the 4" adhesive-backed velcro patches at Wal-Mart, and I stuck 2 of the "hook" patches (vertically) to the bottom-right corner of the panel under my steering column. I then attached a 5.11 brand BBS holster (basically just a universal nylon pouch covered in "loop" velcro) to this "mount", and I was done. I found that this rig gave me quick access with my shooting hand and surprisingly good concealment. My passengers didn't even notice I had a gun in front of me unless I pointed it out to them. The only drawback to this setup was that the factory adhesive backing on the velcro patches was not perfect. In really hot or really cold weather, the patches would start to lose their adhesiveness under the weight of the gun and pull away from the dash panel. I finally scrapped the rig when I found it lying in the floorboard one bitterly cold winter morning. Still, it was an awfully convenient setup, and I've been contemplating upgrading it by simply running small mounting bolts through the corners of the patches. Now, if I can just find the nerve to drill through my panel... Oh, and I should also mention that I had another velcro "mount" on the left side of the steering column panel to which I attached either a 5.11 BBS flashlight pouch (for one of my Surefire G2's) or 5.11 BBS dual-mag pouch. I always felt VERY confident while driving.

Sales tax is 9.25%. No state income tax. Small wheel tax. A house like yours in Knox Co. would have an annual property tax of a little over $1000 (so long as it is not within the city limits). We all complain about our property taxes (especially since we were just informed that they'll be going up), but they're actually VERY mild compared to other parts of the country. Hope this helps.

Aww, thanks Dan! The check's in the mail. And yeah, there are parts of Friendsville and Greenbriar that would fit the bill, as well as parts of Seymour, Claxton, Maynardville, and about a million other communities. That's what makes this process hard (and fun). The OP's criteria described pretty much all of East TN (not such a bad thing), with the only caveat being that he can't be within the city limits since he wants to shoot on his property. Oh, and Mike.357 was right. Disregard Corryton. You don't wanna live near him...
-
First of all, just how "near" Knoxville are we talking? I think you'll be able to find many communities in and around Knox Co. that will meet your needs. I'm biased, but there are parts of Powell, Heiskell, Halls, Gibbs, and Corryton that come to mind immediately. In response to your preferred criteria, there are certain things about which I am not able to comment "legally" (damn real estate licensure laws)...at least not on a public forum. That being said, please don't hesitate to PM me if I can be of any assitance to you in your search. Oh, and welcome to TGO!

I dropped off my new gas plug last week and was told that mine was still a couple of weeks out. Not surprising. So, I decided to switch my Galil forend to the aluminum tri-rail, cut the barrel down to 16.5 in. and permanently affix the shark break, and change the receiver color to Flat Dark Earth...

ETA: Damn you, Brandon...

That was interesting, to say the least. Kinda funny to see the bolt IN FRONT of the rim of the casing. And as for you shooting my G29 like the tiny little girl that you are, you'll have to provide video evidence of you getting through 10 rounds without at least 1 failure to return to battery. I recall no such instance.
-
Suuure...blame the operator. This from the guy who has never gotten through a single mag from my G29 without a failure to return to battery...
-
Well crap. And MD20s? As in plural? Very nice. I need to go ahead and order that gas plug, too. Oh, and TJ's Tantal was VERY nice!
-
Nope. I provided ALL my own parts. Internal receiver block, folding mechanism, Tromix stock, Tromix-modified G2 trigger group, Tromix DIY trigger guard, Tromix slotted Galil handguard, Tromix shark break, and SAW pistol grip. The only thing Shannon has to do for me is add the Ultimak rail. So right back atcha!Okay, I'm off to shoot TJ's Tantal that was the original subject of this thread!

A big +1 to that. If you want, PM me for info about an out-of-state vendor that specializes in RRA rifles.
