  1. Wow. They were $799.99 last week, and I was thinking hard about it. Thinking even harder now. If they had just reduced the SGL31's (5.45) as well, I'd be on the phone right now...
  2. Warned ya'... Also, I've seen pre-converted Saigas with basic furniture for as little as $899, or you could even do the conversion yourself with the proper tools and a little patience. There are guides over at the Saiga-12 forum. Either way, good luck! My Saiga is my favorite gun without question, so the end justifies the means!
  3. You sure you wanna know how much I've got in that thing? I mean, are you SURE? If you're not prepared to swallow hard, then don't read any further... Okay, here goes: I spent a little over $400 after shipping at Mississippi Auto Arms for the Tromix stock, the folding mechanism, the receiver block (optional), the SAW pistol grip, the DIY trigger guard, the Tapco G2 fire control group, the Galil-style vertical charging handle (not seen), and the Shark brake. I also spent another $140 or so at LaRue Tactical for the vertical foregrip and the rail covers. Oh, and $35 to MD Arms for the Gas Fixer adjustable gas plug. I had the conversion done by Shannon at Coal Creek Armory, where I also purchased the tri-rail forend and the Ultimak top rail. The total cost of the conversion after those two parts, barrel cutdown and re-thread, parkerization, and refinish was just a hair short of $600 after tax (the forend and the top rail ate about 40% of that). Whew. I'm about to pass out all over again. I'm almost embarrassed to admit all of that on a public forum. Don't even get me started on the Kobra red dot... To be honest, I couldn't tell you the manufacturer. There are no markings that I can recall. It's just a solid aluminum forend that Shannon (the smith) likes to use on his Saiga conversions. My Dad got one on his first, and I was very impressed, so I ordered one, too. I also had the Ultimak rail bolted to the gas tube, which I thought gave me a nice "quad-rail" effect without having to hunt down (and pay for) a Kaos.
  4. 1. As long as it's permanently affixed, yes.2. Why not? It helps (slightly) to reduce recoil for rapid and accurate follow-up shots, and it can also be used as a bludgeoning tool if the S really does HTF... Besides, even if he didn't wanna spring for a brake, he could still have either barrel cut down to 18" and still be legal (and more maneuverable).
  5. I actually had my barrel cut down to 16" and permanently affixed a Tromix shark brake during the conversion process, so you might consider doing something like this (only adds a few bucks to the work). If you do, then it won't matter which barrel length you buy, and you can save some money. Just my ... You may not remember, but I'm pretty sure you saw my gun at the June shoot on BigJ45's property. Here's a pic I recently posted in the EBR thread, just to give you an idea...
  6. +1 to that! Might I recommend this particular offering for your purposes:DoubleTap Ammunition And yes, you should be able to just drop the G20 upper onto your G21SF frame, so long as you're also using your 10mm mags. Good luck!
  7. +1 to that. My WASR was flawless. I absolutely COULD NOT make that thing malfunction. It ate everything I fed it, and it always put holes in the general vicinity of where I pointed it. Of course it had the cheaper wood, but it didn't look half bad, either.

    PPS, PF-9, or 709

Dude, I'll remind you that, before you can legally carry a gun, you'll need to have a carry permit. That means that you'll actually have to go down to the DMV, fill out the application, pay the $115, and wait like the rest of us did. You can't just keep taking the class over and over (and over) again and hope that it will magically appear in your mailbox. I swear, your life must be like the movie Groundhog Day... Anyway, from what I know, you might just consider sticking with the proven reliability of the Glock subcompacts. Here's a link to a thread on another forum with pics of both the Glock 26 and the PPS side-by-side: Will Ruger beat Glock to a slim 9mm subcompact?? - Page 4 - Glock Talk You'll notice that the PPS is only marginally slimmer than the G26 for a lot more money, and you're already proficient with the Glock trigger. I'll even go ya' one further and suggest the Glock 39 (same-sized frame, but with the additional stopping power of .45 GAP). Just my ...
  9. Ridiculously evil black shotgun...
  10. What are you complaining about? Sounds like you're covered!
  11. I find this VERY hard to believe...
  12. Tell me about it. I haven't pulled a trigger since the Hero Gear shoot at the end of July. Yeah, I've been busy, but I think there's also a small part of me that knows that I might just spend the rest of my life trying--and failing--to relive that day... Anybody got a full-auto M-14 I can borrow?
  13. I believe the boys in the lockup used to call that a "Fifi"...or so I'm told... And to the OP, I'm not pickin' on ya', but for the life of me, I'll never, EVER understand why anyone would EVER manually drop the hammer on a loaded weapon--be it 1911 or wheel gun. My fiancée's stepfather shot himself through the foot several years ago in exactly the same manner (oil on the hammer).
  14. Can't believe I've missed this thread until now. That pic made my whole day...lol. Who the hell is this, btw? Anyone we know?

  18. YouTube - "Here Comes Goodbye" - Rascal Flatts Official Music Video YouTube - Martina McBride - God's Will No videos, but how about these: "One More Day" - Diamond Rio "What Might Have Been" - Little Texas "The Baby" - Blake Shelton ANYTHING performed by John Berry (especially "More Sorry Than You'll Ever Know" and "When Love Dies" on his self-titled release) And a BIG +1 to the following that have already been mentioned: "The Dance" - Garth Brooks "Don't Take the Girl" - Tim McGraw "Alyssa Lies" - Jason Michael Carroll "Skin" - Rascal Flatts "TAPS" "Amazing Grace" on the pipes (I'll be a wet, snotty, quivering mass-of-a-man during halftime of the UT Homecoming game...never fails)
  19. I'm working an Open House right now, so S&W M&P 340 CT in a Galco Ankle Glove and HK P30 in the truck. Going to see the fireworks later (weather permitting), so I'll be switching to the Ruger LCP in a DeSantis Nemesis.
  20. WOW...Told you it was good!
  21. I've got a knock-off memory foam mattress from Healthy Foundations, and frankly, I like it a lot better than the Tempur-Pedics I've tried. It didn't stink coming out of the box, there was no break-in period, it doesn't get hard as a rock when the room is cold, and it cost about 1/3 as much. Oh, and it instantly cured the insomnia with which I had struggled since I was a teenager. Just my ...
  22. Yeah, I about myself when I saw the MSRP on those things. It definitely wasn't cheap, but I got a pretty good deal on a slightly used one from a nice guy down in Lewisburg, with a Desantis Nemesis pocket holster, a Galco IWB holster, and some Federal .357 magnum JHP thrown in to boot.To be perfectly honest, I'm less worried about the effect on my wallet than I am about what's going to happen to my hand when I start shooting .357 out of a 1 7/8" gun that weighs only 13.3 oz.(!)...
  23. So, I decided I was in the market for a pocket-carry pistol just on impulse, and somehow I've ended up with both a Ruger LCP and a S&W M&P 340 CT. The S&W was at least researched a bit, but the LCP was totally spur of the moment (thanks Roy!). Anyway, without further ado, here are my 2 tiny babies!
  24. That would be perfect. I don't think Jamey realized what he was getting himself into when he offered to share...lol. Thanks again, Jamey!
  25. I'd like to have a copy, if you don't mind. bsimpson23@comcast.net Thanks in advance!
