Rick seems to have developed a bad case of the Pox Chickens?
-
I've installed them on several firearms including a Glock 19, Ruger SP101 and Remington 870 shotgun. For what it's worth... I think they are great for close personal self defence and you can pick up the front sight quickly. However, in my experience and many others, they are not accurate enough for competition compared to standard notch and post sights. That said, some folks swear by them and hit steel targets at 100 yards, but I'm not one of them. I suppose with practice anyone could adapt to them maybe? I really like the XS Big Dot on my Remington 870 home defence shotgun though.

True story... I shoot .22LR bench-rest 50 yard with excellent shooters using Anschutz, CZ, Kimber 82, etc. On occasion they will shoot a fly / bug that lands on the target and tell the scorekeeper what they did so they don't get penalized. Since they shoot scores of 99-100 no one, including myself, disputes it but... As proof I personally would like them to present the dead corpse as evidence to insure it was a humane clean head shot  I shoot a number of disciplines so I can't afford a top of the line firearm for any of them. I bought and shoot a cheap $200 Savage w/ bull barrel and Mueller 6x32 scope to clearly see the little flea I'm trying to hit. Because of skill / equipment level I'm never going to win a match but, it's fun and my cheap set up shoots better than I do. For the money I'm impressed with that cheap little Savage bolt action .22LR.

I really like that Glock 43 myself and been fondling one at the local gun shop. The sales guy behind the counter wears one in his OWB holster. I'm trying to convince myself why I need one as... I have a G-26 that I like and is about the same size as the G-23 and has just a little more stopping power. Neither pistol will fit functionally or comfortably in my pockets. My little Ruger LCP is just the right size for pocket carry and be able to get a purchase on it "while standing". Another of my considerations is the price of .380 practice ammo vs. 9mm cost. I'm really, really trying to convince myself why I need that 43 :yum: If I didn't already own a G-26 I'd be the proud owner of that neat little popper topper.

Walmart strikes again, this time more serious

Military sixty seven series or civilian? -
Don't guess you guys ever heard of the likes of... Cowboy Bob Ellis, Dick the Bruiser, Johnny Valentine?

A Springfield loaded is on my short list, nice gun! As far as grip, I sort of had the same problem with my Kimber Pro Raptor grips, thick and slick. They looked so awesome on the pistol I was hesitant to change them out but. function is more important to me than looks, sooooo. I ordered a set of VZ grips with the aggressive texture. They are much thinner than the wood factory grips, and I'm here to tell ya, even if your hands are covered in KY jelly for some odd reason, the pistol will never "slip" out of your hand! If you ever shoot an IDPA match in the rain, they just paid for themselves. The draw back of those aggressive texture grips is CCW on a belt holster with no under shirt. It will eat you raw in short order.

Has a small issue yesterday in Cookville!
Dennis1209 replied to bersaguy's topic in Handgun Carry and Self Defense
Yep! You'd be pinching Twinkie loafs if you actually knew how many murderers, gang-bangers, pedophiles, druggies, thieves, rapists and criminals you come in close contact with while standing in check out lines, sitting at stop lights and just walking by. A number of times I've seen grainy store surveillance videos looking for a fugitive or escapee and realized I was there about that time or not long before or after. What you don't know would be surprising. -
Young Grasshopper... I've still got a 50 round box of Western Auto .22LR ammo I bought by myself in 1964 for 25 cents. 1/2 cent per round if you will. Thems the good ole days

It never ceases to amaze me the length the liberals and anti gun crowd will go to keep guns out of the hands of responsible law abiding citizens as feel good measures and reactionary responses. Think about it, the majority of laws and checks are directed at those citizens who actually follow the law. It's common knowledge the vast majority of weapons criminals, gang-bangers and the mentally ill posses are stolen and/or obtained by straw purchases. The overwhelming percentage of gun related violent crime is related to drug use and the drug trade in one way or another, and/or you gots it and I'm taking it. It doesn't take an I.Q. of Einstein to realize the enlightened and liberals are dancing around the root causes of violent crime and shifting their efforts, by design, to those who actually follow the law. Just one persons uneducated thought process...

I got board in retirement too and got hired at our local Lowe's. The second day of classroom training when they covered two pages of employment felonies and three pages of misdemeanors I got up and told the HRMS this wasn't for me. She asked that I stay because they already spent a bunch of money for pre-employment stuff, so I did. The third day when I got to the floor, met my new boss and other employees, went to my new locker and turned in my fancy red vest and employee 10% discount card and said thanks for the opportunity.

The Official "What Santa Brought You For Christmas 2014" Thread
Dennis1209 replied to MrBrian's topic in Show and Tell
I just love that Santa Clause! If you look very close, you'll see an eventual 25 straight on it somewhere. With stocking stuffers of a new Eddie Buar trap jacket and two flats of shells I'm ready for the New Year. PULL - BANG, PULL - BANG, BANG - PULL  -
I bought an 880 pound Liberty Fat Boy from the Nashville Safe House a few years ago. Fortunately I did my measuring before it was delivered, as the doors and door jams both had to come off before it would pass through. Any wooden steps will probably be your weakest area, and... Rule #1 on buying a safe: Always buy one much bigger than you think you need. Good luck.

Jax could be resurrected as a mean ass homeless man :ugh:

My Sharp Maker works great. My wife makes me sharpen all our cheap steel kitchen knives every few weeks or so because they dull pretty quickly. After I sharpen a bunch of cheap steel knives it leaves the stones all black with metal and slows the sharpening process so. I clean my stones with Comet / Ajax before I put them away. BTW. After you get the edge you need with the medium and fine stones (on cheap steel knives), I've found that I only need to touch them up with the extra fine stone a bit to restore the edge and not remove much more of the blade. Awhile back all three pairs of the wife's sewing scissors were not cutting like they use to. Never sharpened a pair of scissors in my life, so I got out the video that came with the sharpener and reviewed it again for scissors. WOW, they now cut great and it was super easy!

Jax appeared to be fine and uninjured until the scene getting up from the chair. And if you remember, just prior to getting up from the chair and stumbling, he was staring at both his hands intensely. I don't know if he was studying his hands or SOA rings? But the combination of the two is going to lead to something I'm sure! You guys have some interesting and logical predictions. It's going to be a blast to find out who here is closest to having it figured out  Edit just reading Spots post: I wasn't aware of Charlie breaking his toe during filming. Since they made a big deal of him stumbling out of the chair, now I'm thinking they edited the script and worked it into the plot for another sinister reason. Some people like me go to sleep counting sheep. Evidently Mr. Sutter goes to REM with body counts :snore:
-
Very interesting observations and certainly logical in the scheme of things. Come to think of it, as far as I've seen, only Jax and Jemma have seen / interacted with the homeless woman, Maybe she is a ghost? Do we know for a fact she was killed in that accident? I thought on his pan head JT hit a tractor trailer head on?
-
Yeah, there's still a lot of loose ends to tie up. Robo Cop still needs to be dealt with, the mayhem vote, change by-laws to allow Grimm Bstdrds SOA membership. August Marks is still in jail, the homeless bag lady keeps showing up, his two kids and seems their making a point with Jackson that something is wrong with his leg / hip, as he about fell over getting up from a chair and limping. The twisted mind of Kurt Sutter just doesn't arbitrarily draw your attention to something for no reason. I see Wendy and Nero heading to his farm with Jax's kids and living happily ever after. I see Venus giving Tig HIV, hepatitis, herpes, gonorrhea, cold sores, and 27 other STD'S and too sick to play in next seasons "Justified". Then Tig will propose marriage to Venus :stunned: I see Chucky inventing new dexterous fingers and continuing with his CMD. Chibs and Jeri, well, anyones guess? Sorry to give away next Tuesday's final episode guys.

Choosing the right fruit tree
Dennis1209 replied to maroonandwhite's topic in Survival and Preparedness
I learned to find out more before I ordered fruit trees and save "years" of disappointment! FIVE years ago I ordered a cherry tree from Burgess Seed Company, because we like us some cherry pies. The seed company fliers don't give you the information you need. This spring my cherry tree (forgot what species and emailed Burgess with picture of it) was full of blooms and still not one cherry. Burgess told me I had to have at least one more of the same species or a Bing Cherry tree for it to cross pollinate. At my age that's a lot of time I don't have to start all over again and wasted years of no cherry pies  The same situation with apples and pears may or may not apply. Just one of my stupid experiences with fruit trees. -

Have the courts started garnishing welfare deposits, food stamps, WIC, Section 8, etc.? Has alchemy discovered getting blood out of petrified turnips :ugh: The courts can impose any "remedy" they desire but, collecting it is another matter. Even an attorney will advise a client not to pursue damages / loss if there's nothing to be gained. Bottom line: If you get up in the morning to go to work, you still lose. JMHO

I don't want to ruffle any feathers but, if TWO BG'S get the drop on you and TWO pistols closely trained on you or pressed on you... You're pretty well screwed. With your buddies experience I'd say he was better off being unarmed as a minimum his handgun would have been taken too and/or offended them and used on him? I doubt the punks would frisk him for an ankle holster but given the situation and them fleeing, I doubt it would have done any good anyway. By your description, it sounds like even situational awareness would not have been quick enough. Sometimes no matter how alert / careful we are, it's just not good enough and the BG'S always have the advantage of surprise. If that happened to me I would be counting my blessings. These days criminals seem to be more prone to shoot you out of fear, needing a drug fix, meanness or lack of anyone to testify against them in court. Glad he survived in check.

I'm not positive this is directly related to the gun industry leaving NY for more friendly states but... About every channel I watch I've seen commercials begging business to relocate to NY and offering 10 year tax exemptions. Those commercials got to be expensive and they must be desperate. Haven't seen the elitists commercials with Arnold lately begging people to move to Kalifornia lately. Could there possibly be a connection :ugh:
