  1. Oh it's coming alright! I've been preaching that for a number of years now and was the cause of recently creating my own website over the matter.    I have much better things to do in my retirement than be a blog nerd; but when I got that form letter reply from Lamar Alexander about my concerns of the "Religion of Pieces" Syrian refugee's coming to settle in America, and the direction our country has taken, I went berserk had to vent.    Muslim terrorist attacks are picking up in momentum and frequency if anyone hasn't noticed. It's established history that when the population becomes strong enough, we will see as many or more attacks as Israel receives.    It's only a matter of time before we get another major terrorist strike. Whether it's nuclear, radiation, chemical or biological is anyone's guess. I predicted all this long before 911.
  2.   Don't be shy or hold back anything. Tell me what you really feel?   :biglol:
  3. Awhile back I think that was about the price I paid for a Liberty Fat Boy from the Nashville Safe House, delivered and installed. If memory serves, they had a bunch of pre-owned safes also. Good people to do business with, you might want to check them out.
  4. Where there is a will there is a way to earn it. I chose the GI Bill to go to college.    I do have a puzzling question though? A number of years ago before my daughter was to go to college, I did some quick calculations to try and figure out why colleges and universities tuition was astronomical. Won't go into detail but based on rough estimates of the number of students, professors salary, maintenance, utilities, etc. Tax free status and receiving huge amounts of Federal, state aid and grants. They are making a killing financially? Where's all that money going?
  5.   Us old geezers think alike.
  6. I got to say! Last Sunday's season premiere of "The Walking Dead" was the best ever!
  7. I have a similar safe and it would break my heart coming home and seeing that.    It's no consolation for keepsakes and irreplaceable's but I think my Liberty safe would be replaced free of charge for a break-in, and NRA and homeowners would financially offset my loss. But still that's sad.   Apparently whomever did it pre-planned and was well prepared knowing the time to do it and the equipment / utilities required. I can't imagine something like that happening in less than 30 minutes from entry to exit. Hope they track down the scum and they get their just desserts.
  8. I needed a bit of good news today!
  9. Don't get me wrong here, I'm all for carrying everywhere I can, but...   Say I owned a restaurant business and didn't have a posted no CCW sign. A customer comes in and for whatever reason the handgun falls on the concrete floor an discharges, hurting or killing someone (and yes it happens)?  Or a robbery occurs and a private citizen gets involved and hurts an innocent customer by his / her actions? Who is going to be a defendant in the civil suit?   I'm now a co-defendant in a large civil suit because I allowed the carrying of weapons in my establishment, by NOT posting a NO CCW sign. Isn't it common sense to protect your business from something that can bankrupt you?   Just playing the devil's advocate from a legal stand point.
  10. OR MAY I LOAN YOU MINE?
  11. I need my helicopter back! My Kimber Pro Raptor .45 just ain't going to do the trick when TSHTF. Visit http://www.frankopinion.net/memories-of-vietnam-part2 , scroll down half a page and click this guy to take a little helicopter ride. You'll never go back to that sissy Glock again!
  12. Crime is no respecter of the affluent or poor  -Frank Opinion   I too bought a place off the beaten path thinking I would be more safe and secure. WRONG!   I've had some bizarre things occur too, but nothing like what you've experienced. My happenings seem to be some of the locals around here. I attribute the bizarre nature of the events to the gene pool around here. When the inbreeds (inbred) take drugs, strange happenings occur.   Based on what you have said a couple of things are apparent.    1. They don't fear you and are not worried about leaving evidence to be found.   2. Apparently you're under observation and whomever they are, know everyone's schedules / habits.   I'd be thinking about that?
  13. I learned a valuable lesson at my 1st Appleseed event this last summer.    I bought a nice Ruger 10/22 just for that Appleseed event, new 2 x 7 power scope, a military sling from the Appleseed website and everything I needed. Prepaid my $70.00 entry and range fee. Went to my gun club and perfectly zeroed my rifle on the concrete bench-rests for the distance. Now I'm ready to go. Keep in mind I'm now 63 years old!   Appleseed weekend comes and I'm excited to play! After the excellent talks about our American history and heritage, it's to the range to sight in, etc. Long story short... My scope mount position was excellent for bench-rest shooting. When I got into the prone position, the scope was 'three' inches too far back. I had to contort my neck and head to even see through the scope. I had a little time to adjust the scope all the way forward but then it was way off the mark. I didn't have the time to re-zero it as the class had to progress on time. My old neck was so kinked and sore I just called it a day. I didn't realize eye relief was that drastically different for me from bench-rest to prone. I should have checked it out in the prone position. What a dummy...    Next summer!
  14. I was there for a couple of weeks in January, 1986 and loved it. Except for the part I almost killed myself snow skying in the Alps for the first time.    Too bad you're 30 years to late. With the monetary exchange rate back then at 3:1, you could have bought a nice Rolex watch or pair of Zeiss binoculars for 2/3 off what you'd pay here.   The German food is excellent and if you get a chance, checkout a famous place in Munich called something like 'the Hauper House' (sp). It was a blast. If you do any traveling with their efficient train system, it departs every time, on time. You still probably can get those ceramic little things called Hummels (sp?) a lot cheaper over there. They make great Christmas gifts to people who like and collect them. Or a huge profit selling them back here if they don't break on the way.   So much to see and do two weeks was not enough. Have fun and good luck over there.   NOTE TO SELF: If you ever visit Europe again, leave your un-smart phone home and just enjoy yourself and take it all in. I can always face plant in my gizmo when I get back.
  15. Last time I went to an indoor sit down movie, they showed two cartoons before the feature presentation. Popcorn I believe was 25 cents? What does the admission cost now 4-5 dollars maybe?
  16. It's the same as deer I would assume, if you can show your local game warden the crop damage deer have done. You can get a 24/7 permit to get as many as you feel necessary. Deer around here are as thick as ticks, and my neighbor gets a deer permit every two years during the summer and kills 10-30 of them. But I've never heard of a case around here of anyone getting one of those permits for coyote damage?
  17. My Kimber Ultra CDP II and Kimber Pro Raptor have been reliable AFTER; I found the ammunition it liked and polished the feed ramp / rail slides. My experience is, once they're good and broke in and well lubed, I've had FEW problems at IDPA. I still like the trust worthiness of my Glock 19 more though.  For a better grip and handling, you might want to try a set of aggressive VZ grips on a 1911. Great handling but tough on your skin / tee shirts.
  18. That's to humane. I wrote an article on my website on what should happen to rabid animals like that.
  19. Live and learn I guess!   Since I moved here five years ago I've attempted to locate a chimney sweep to professionally clean and inspect my chimney 8" x 8" clay flue pipe and wood burning stove. It seems "chimney sweeps" are a rare occupation anywhere around my area. In the mean time, I was cleaning out my flue and flue piping with your standard wire brush with extensions. Sure is nice to have a nice fire going during cold weather and ice storms.   Last year I had a flue fire that got my double wall flue pipe so hot it was smoking. One of the other problems I had was on occasion the damper control would not work properly and the fire would all of a sudden start burning out of control. Closing the damper on the stove had no effect.   I finally located a chimney sweep company an hour and a half from here in Jackson, TN. willing to come this way when they got enough business to make it worth their while. I'm here to tell you, that drill actuated weed whip cleaner they used put the brush I was using to shame. It got so clean it could actually visually inspected for any cracking.   They found cracking in the clay flue pipe, I'm guessing probably because of the flue fire I had and maybe because of the out of control fires I experienced? So anyway, they're coming out this week to install a stainless steel flue liner, and I'll rest easier knowing it's safer.   They inspected all the doors and seals to determine if too much air was getting in causing the out of control fires using a dollar bill. One side door they could pull the dollar bill out, and adjusted the door tighter. It took a little pressure to remove the bill so I can't see that being the source of excessive air entering the stove causing run away fires. Though I could be wrong and they are the professionals. I'm still thinking it might be the damper not closing / sealing adequately, but it's a bear trying to see anything from where it's installed. It's a 500 pound unit so there's no easy way to rotate it around to look where you need to look?   Any of you experienced guys that own wood burning stoves have any ideas? Thanks!
  20. Security...   It won't matter how well / bad you're prepared if you can't protect it. Rioting and looting are bad now, imagine how bad it will be should a major national / global emergency occur, much less if TSHTF. Whatever you have, people are going to deceive themselves thinking they need it much more than you do and try to forcefully take it.    Purposely living in the country for that potential eventuality has it's pro's and con's. At our age the wife and I wouldn't be able to defend our place having to sleep and other distracting chores on any scale probably. They're are few neighbors around here but with the exception of only one, they are not interested nor capable of much physical activity. Due to the scarcity of warm bodies, there wouldn't be enough manpower for a 24/7 watch, much less any early OP / LP.    There's not many people on the Tennessee Preppers website living in NW Tn. that I can find. At any rate, I can't foresee myself pulling up stakes and leaving most of my possession here and relocating to an assumed safer location?    I brought up the subject of prepping to a buddy of mine at the gun club awhile back and asked his thoughts. He said he's not going to plan / prep and "I'll just come over and take yours". I believe that he was at least half serious too!
  21. There's a bunch of public land you can find on this site TWRA fields.    http://www.state.tn/twra   Check there site to see what is closest to you and being military "I think" with papers you may not need the TWRA permit, but check for yourself.
  22. A little pricey on some items but...   They carry top of the line products and if you can't find what you're looking for there, it's going to be hard to find. Customer service is second to none and fast shipping. They financially support the shooting sports and 2nd Amendment and didn't / don't cave into PC like "Cheaper Than Crap" and many others do after a serial killer incident.    Yeah, they're an outstanding and reputable company and a pleasure to do business with.
  23. I know the feeling, been there done that...   I hope I don't get laughed off this forum but. I always thought time was speeding up the older I got, or so it seemed. And I have been scientifically proven right! Time is not linear or constant, it's a forth dimension and is different for each of us, it has been measured and absolutely proven in a variety of ways.    Your time is unique and personal. Your time is affected by your speed, gravity, altitude, who's watching it from where, and your perception. It makes for a fascinating study.   Combine that with the "scientific measured fact over time" the speed of light is not a constant of 186,000 MPS and has been slowing down over TIME, and you have some very interesting controversy the mainstream evolutionists can't explain and they forgo the facts to fit their beliefs and theories.
  24. I currently own a Ram with the 5.9 Cummins and had one previous to it.   Imagine waking up one morning and it's well below zero, not intending on going anywhere until the weather warms some, and you didn't have any fuel additives in the system. Then you receive a semi-emergency call and have to wonder if your diesel truck will start, as the block heater was not plugged it.   You go out and turn on your ignition and wait for the "wait to start" light to extinguish as your glow plugs heat up. You hear the fuel pump making noises you never heard before?   The wait to start light goes out and you start cranking, and cranking, and cranking and nothing. You wait a few days until the weather warms up and heat up the engine with a kerosene blower heater in case there's any gelled diesel fuel left. You crank, and crank and crank until the dual batteries are dead.   You call a tow truck and have your "out of warranty" Dodge Ram diesel truck towed to the fix it place. Later that day you receive a call from "the fix my truck" place and the conversation goes like this...   Me: Hello   Fix it up guy: Is this Dennis?   Me: Yes it is.   Fix it up guy: We diagnosed the problem with your diesel engine.   Me: Oh good, how much and when will it be ready?   Fix it up guy: Are you sitting down?   Me: No, why?   Fix it up guy: Do you have a heart defibrillator near by?   Me: No I don't, what are you talking about?   Fix it up guy: It's your fuel injector pump that's bad!!!   Me: Well, O.K. so....?   Fix it up guy: Please take two Bayer aspirins, wait an hour and call me back while your comfortably seated.   Me: Are you serious?   Fix it up guy: Yes I am, good bye...   Me: An hour later... Hello Mr. Fix it Up Guy, I'm ready, give it to me straight.   Fix it up guy: $3.572.00 installed  :stunned:   Moral of the story. In cold weather diesel fuel additive is proper maintenance. Gel is for J-E-L-L-O.
  25. I shoot trap and skeet when it's not 212 degrees and 101% humidity outside  :ugh:
