  1. I'm not the type to leave home with everything I possibly could use, I like to keep it light and simple. Yea, I have all the EDC gear; CCW, single and double mag carriers, a host of holsters, cell phone, SOG knife, Surefire flash lights, etc. Normally when I leave to run errands or go to the store during the day I grab my Kimber CDP II or Pro Raptor and OWB Alessi holster, wallet and keys and call it good. On many occasions I had kicked myself in the gluteus maximus for not grabbing my cell phone. Anyway, for the second time in several years I was in a Wal-Mart and they lost electricity. Naturally both times I was in the center or toward the back of the store (sporting goods section ). You wouldn't believe how dark it gets there when the lights go out. They have a few perimeter emergency flood lights but, not enough light to keep from bumping into things until your eyes adjust. Both times the employees became unglued, yelling at everyone to move to the front or leave the store. Going around with flash lights and herding people up. Right then and there I decided to always grab my little Surefire E2E and clip it on my belt, it sure would have been nice to adequately see where I was headed. Come to think of it, I guess when the lights and security cameras go out, it's a prime time feeding frenzy for thieves. Might as well buy me a bat belt also and bring the cell phone along for the ride. Moral of my story: Who would think you would need a flash light during the day? You guys ever come across a situation where you needed a light during the day doing errands / going to the store?
  2. I wasn't aware fire ants had made it to Tennessee yet. I know they are making their way north. Just for my information, how far north in TN. are they?
  3. Ah, you're going to have a blast shooting IDPA, I sure do. Unfortunately, I've incurred another curse word in my vocabulary, procedural.
  4. Speaking of this gun, I almost bought it at Wally World a few weeks ago for $239.00 I believe. I've started shooting .22 precision bench rest at 50 yards at the club and not doing all that great. Most the competitors are using $1,800.00 match .22's w/ bull barrels. Me and my Browning hunting "T" bolt don't stand a chance. Does Ruger sell a super accurate match grade .22 for non-millionaires ? Oh yea, I have a 2-7 power scope on my "T" bolt and everyone else uses 18-24 power magnification. Need a new scope too I guess.
  5. Yep, got them here in the country also. I'm controlling them pretty well in the house, however, could use some advise on the vehicles. Never had this problem before I moved to BFE, anyway... Since we retired and moved to the country we don't drive much anymore, maybe once every week or two. Decided to check the car & truck's oil, washer fluid, etc. the other day. There's more acorns on the engine block and batteries than on the ground, with several visible nests. Also caught a glimpse of one on the floor board while driving the other day. I'm worried about the mice chewing electrical wiring and destroying the vehicle. Traps, poison and glue strips just don't seem practical for obvious reasons. Thoughts guy's??
  6. Hello, I'm here from the government and I'm here to help! Yea, right! Do you want to be a government dependent, let them into your personal lifestyle, let them know what you have, make decisions for you? Welcome to the world of where we're at today. I can't stress enough that the "government" does NOT have your best interests at heart. I could write a doctorial thesis on governmental abuse, but, suffice it to say, drink the kool-aid and surrender...
  7. Try pleading the 5th or NOYB with the Census Bureau, they're relentless. Got one of the mid-decade long forms they send to select individuals. Takes about an hour to complete and they ask private questions. I refused to send it in. Finally they started calling me every other day and threatening to send someone out and I can go to jail under law for not complying. Each time I read them verbatim the constitutional requirement for the census, and told them I will not divulge any private information. A couple of months later this dude comes by my house and announces he's from the Census Bureau to collect the information I neglected to submit. Few times in my life I have become so livid. To make a long story short, I never talked to an individual the way I talked to him, then slammed the door in his face. Wife was scared and ran out to him and answered all the information she was aware of, to keep me out of jail I guess. I wasn't very happy about that but, had I went outside, I know I'd ended up in the polky.
  8. Yep, this range bag is the best bang for your buck. I got lucky finding out Midway had them on sale for $30.00 some time ago. Lots of room for everything and rugged. As far as hearing protection, I use the Peltor 7S electronics to hear range commands from the S.O. shooting IDPA, they work well but after awhile as with any muff style they start to get uncomfortable. Most other times I use www.earplugsonline.com . Can wear them all day and forget they are there. A little gooey though.
  9. Sure did! Put slim grips on my 1911 Kimber. All I can say is, good thing I couldn't find my straight tip bit for my 1/2" pneumatic impact wrench.
  10. I hate sad stories like that... Anyway, not to disparage Glocks because I have a G-26 and enjoy it. I carry my 1911's cocked and locked. I carry my G-26 in condition three for a reason. Reason being: Ever heard of "Murphy's Law"? I've gotten things hung up in the most unlikely places, it's scary. I don't have any statistics and can't prove it but, most the NG's I read about are striker fired pistols. Anyway, thousands of people safely carry their Glocks with no problem. I'm not taking the chance of being the .000001% that Murphy wrote that law for
  11. When shooting, Rudy Project. The rest of the time I just suffer...
  12. Sure have... In 1971 with nuckmom (sp?) Tastes like chicken!
  13. ^ Robert's got it...
  14. Say hey fellas! Recently retired after 38 years living in the Peoples Republic, due to employment. My last year of active service (1973) I was stationed with 2/17th Air Calvary, Ft. Campbell, KY. I lived in a converted barn made into four apartments somewhere in the boon docks near Erin, TN. I said to myself, "this area would be a nice place to retire to"... SURPRISE!!! Man did the years fly by and now I'm an old man Anyway, not much to tell. Member NRA, joined local county gun club here, finally have farm fresh eggs daily, three years active U.S. Army, 1 yr. RVN as door gunner / crew chief UH-1C assault helicopter, 17 yrs. USAR. Enjoy shooting IDPA, trap, skeet, precision rifle and love the freedoms Tennessee has compared to the Peoples Republic. Looking forward to jawing with y'all and telling tall tales
  15. I shoot IDPA and it's a blast! I recently retired and moved to Tennessee. I did a Goggle search for gun clubs in my county, found one and joined. Living in "The Peoples Republic of Illinois" for thirty-eight years, I just love Tennessee and its freedoms
  16. I concur with the above. A few months ago I visited their store in Nashville, after a bunch of on-line research. To make a long story short, ended up purchasing their Liberty Fat Boy. Wanted a quality safe that I wouldn't out grow. Came with the door organizer that works great. Had mechanical lock I paid extra to have changed to electronic. They have a very large selection and price range. They took the time to educate me on safes, the type of knowledge you really can't get and see on-line. Their prices are very competitive. The delivery was fast. The delivery guys were great. Would buy from them again no doubt. The only thing I didn't care for was the surcharge for using credit / debit card, but that's just passing on the extra expense they incur. I'm a happy camper...
