I was diagnosed with a meniscus muscle tear in my right knee in 1990. Had orthopedic surgery suppose to take 20 minutes to repair and he asked if I wanted a local to stay awake and watch. I'm thinking, are you nuts or something. Went into surgery at 2:00 P.M. and when coming out of the drugs I noticed it was dark through the window, and it was almost 7:00 P.M. Turned out it was the meniscus cartledge torn almost all the way through. They trimmed most of it off and told me there was nothing more they would be able to do to repair it in the future, save knee transplant. Well, 22 years later I got problems with both my knees again. I'm not going to get anything more done about it at my age. I remember the pain I endured during the simple orthopedic, much less the days of pain for a knee and joint transplant. And I do believe it's required to take anti-rejection medication for the rest of your life? But I will say, I got 15 good years of pain free right knee after the surgery but, the joint is like a loose u-joint in an automobile, loose as a goose! Good Luck!

Over 50% of the American population gets some form of government hand out. As JFK said, "As not what you can do for your country but, what your country can do for you". Generational welfare is not a limited benefit, it's called an ENTITLEMENT. Any potential political canadate who proposes cuts / elimination to un-constitutional programs won't get elected in this day and age of personal and corporate welfare. The mass will gravitate to the canadate that promises the most handouts. IMO, any chance of a Republican or independent getting elected to the office of president would require a split in the democratic voting ticket. BHO is almost assured a second term as it stands now.

Have you tried the Tennessee Career Center? I'm getting board being retired this winter and went there for a part time job. They have lots of full time job listings. Good luck.

We're partly responsible for the sophisticated weaponry of terrorist / communist sponsored nations. Truth be known, the vast majority of their best and brightest were educated where?

Forty-Two, count them, forty two years since I went to Army basic training. Try counting that number on your fingers and toes Didn't care much for my extended vacation in Southeast Asia though. Don't let anyone tell you dog tastes just like chicken and MPC is just as good as the dollar. 42 Now that's a big number...

^ That's my way of thinking too. -
Yes it is but, you never know when it will be open.

^^^YEP^^^ Also keep in mind if you ever have to use a weapon for self fefense in the home, they will take it as evidence. There's no guarentee if or when you'll get it back, and in what shape. I rather they have my $300.00 870 express than my Browning A-5.

I think being left handed should be a disability and qualify for a government welfare check, for all the pain and suffering, not being able to find what you want for left-handers Latest example: Decided to get a shooting vest for trap, one with padding for the left shoulder. Every time I shoot two rounds of trap, my old shoulder is sore for two days. Seen a nice Browning shooting vest with a Reactar pad for $125.00, got to have it! Spent a couple of hours trying to buy one on-line left-handed with no luck. Finally went to the Browning website to pay a premium price. Lo and behold, only made for you right handers I can't tell you how many times I wanted something and they discriminate against us people thinking in our right minds. Hell, I can't even find a left-handed screw driver, so I can't do my honey-do list... Rant/Off

Electronic Ear Muffs, Recomendations
Dennis1209 replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
^What Dave says... I have the Peltor 7S electronics and they work great for IDPA and trap. I get about 24 hours of battery life. One draw back is when it's breezy / windy, they will cut out a great deal. -
Need a Cannon Safe Drilled. Any suggestions?
Dennis1209 replied to Valkyrie_1520's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
I recently bough a safe from these folks, they definately know their safes. I paid extra to have mine converted to the e-lock for ease of use. Hope I don't ever regret changing locks. Good people to do business with. [/img] -
WOW!! I'm 60 years old and I have only see one Bobcat in my entire life out in the wild. IMHO, the chances of seeing a wild Bobcat and stalking it, and killing it are astronomical. "They" say, there is a good Bobcat population in the lower 48, but you couldn't prove it by me... You were born 150 years to late Mr. Mountain Man :-)

Electronic Ear Muffs, Recomendations
Dennis1209 replied to Lumber_Jack's topic in Firearms Gear and Accessories
Say Hey... I purchased a pair of Peltor 7S electronic hearing protectors, CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW? I've owned them about a year now and they have worked great. They take a 9v. battery that lasts about 24 hours of continuous use. I only bought them to hear range commands shooting IDPA. If memory serves, I paid about $125.00 for them. For normal shooting I use the regular Peltor ear muffs or the foam plugs. Ear muffs get in the way on the stock of rifles and shotguns for me most of the time. Your milage may vary. Just my 3 cents worf... -
It's so sad and scary living in an environment like that if you can't escape. Your decent kids getting battered and harassed walking home from school. Can't play outside and go to neighborhood friends homes to visit for fear of getting jumped. Worry about your kids joining the gang to stop the beatings and harassment. Secure yourself inside your home the best you can to prevent a home invasion. If you're lucky enough to obtain a FOID card and have a self defense weapon, you're hesitant to use it for fear of the gang bangers retaliation on your wife, children, home and property. The "Peoples Republic of Illinois" trying to imprison you for self defense. What a life. There are millions of decent law abiding citizens experiencing this on a daily basis. Many or most do not have the means to uproot and relocate to a better neighborhood. I know what I would have liked to do. But, it's against the law, would have put my family in mortal danger, and being employed, you can't be home when it occurs. From the preceding responses, I assume no one has a recommendation or suggestion on how to curtail and eliminate the degradation and decline of civilized living? Let's talk about it...

I'm surprised they haven't mentioned mixed income housing. That will bring it to a neighborhood near you. Projects didn't work, Section 8 is destroying many neighborhoods, what's another social experiment failure?

A little history. I lived in a little village established in 1699 named Cahokia, IL., it is actually listed as East St. Louis, IL. I bought a nice quaint modest home there in 1980. When I purchased the residence, it was a very nice subdivision, friendly neighbors, well kept lawns, absolutely no litter and well maintained homes, etc. Then about the year 2000 the neighbors started to do the Section 8 thing, and it was all down hill from there. It wasn't long before the crime in the subdivision escalated 10,000%. Gang bangers standing in the subdivision street blocking your egress and staring you down, crack and drug houses in the subdivision, an escalation of home invasions and burglaries in the neighborhood and intimidation outside your home. To add insult to injury, Illinois requires you have a FOID card just to touch a gun, and you better not have one ready to go in your vehicle. Four thousand dollars per year property taxes... Now, I'm a combat veteran and one not willing to cower down to the evil of this world. However, I have a wife, family and property that will suffer if I make a choice to stand my ground. If the law and law enforcement can't control the gangs and crime, what makes me think I can protect my family and property? If I force someone trespassing on my property off, shoot a gang banger in my house, etc., there will be severe reprisals to pay for my family / myself. It's a NO win situation! Myself and my family had to endure this escalating criminal environment for two additional years until I became eligible for retirement and move. Even though I lost 80% of the appraised value of my home trying to sell it for three years, I had the financial means to get the hell out of Dodge, and I was thankful. Moving to Tennessee was a God send for us. So, given the millions of people experiencing this scary existence like I did, what's the solution, if there is one? Personal protection won't do you any good when there is an army of evil ready to do you and your family in if you protect yourself.

There are many quality holster manufacturers that would fit your bill, such as; Milt Sparks, Alessi and High Noon. Be prepared to pay for quality and wait 3-6 months for delivery, and worth the wait IMO.

Congratulations, I think the Solo is a great looking and concealable pistol. If you're an old fart like me, don't discount the advantages of a laser sight for home protection. With less than 20/20 eye sight, getting startled out of bed at 3:00 A.M. by a break-in, still not fully functional with old eyes not able to properly focus in the best of conditions, a laser sight CAN be beneficial and a life saver. Just my .03 cents worth.

Well, I'm not a doom and gloomer, my cup is half full. But like the OP has stated, 2011 was the worst year ever for natural / man made disasters. Makes me wish I didn't live a stones throw away from the New Madrid fault line. Anyway, I have a gut feeling 2012 will be the year the straw broke the camels back. My crystal ball, Tara cards and chicken bones have a bad, bad feeling. Myself, my shadow and my reflection predict a worldwide economic collapse. Humpty Dumpty is going to fall off the wall all over again, and all the Kings horses... well you get the idea. Seriously though, everyone should have adequate preparations to survive on their own for at least 3-6 months, and have an extended plan in place just in case. No one can totally prepare for everything but, any preparations are better than nothing. Pity the poor fool who thinks tomorrow will be the same as yesterday. You can quote history on that one. Peace and Happy New Year everyone!

How about this idea if you're my age? The liberal college draft card burners tripping on LSD in the 60's - 70's are now business owners, university professors and public school teachers. Driving liberal social agendas into the minds of our children. Just my observation as a parent of three grown public school / college graduates. By the way, Happy New Year everyone.

How about retiring, selling your house, moving 300 miles away and a few months later remembering you left a Browning .380 hidden on top of some duct work in your ex-basement?

Humm... There's expenses associated with safety courses; targets, over head, pay, etc. The government has no money, they confiscate it from the productive and distribute it to their political choice. So, if the government funds it, Joe Blow who just hates the thought of guns is flipping the bill. Just playing Devils advocate.
