  1. From my research, I tend to agree with your assessment. Good post.
  2. Well, I'm a little lazy and don't want to spend allot of time sharpening all the knives. I use a cheapo electric knife sharpener that is just adequate. When the wife moans and groans about her cutting knives being dull, I spend about 5 minutes sharpening a dozen kitchen knives. I use to take pride in putting an edge on a hunting knife with an Arkansas stone you could shave with. Then I got old and time is precious before the rigor mortis set in and the long dirt nap.

    "Glock Haters"

Glock is what I call the wife's cooking. When I eat "Glock", shortly thereafter I have to rush and see RALPH about a BUICK. If and / or when the Zombie apocalypse ever occurs, I'm going to invite all the Zombies I know over for a Glock party. Seriously though, I'm a 1911 fan but my Glock 26 has its place. I always get 100 rounds out of my Kimbers during IDPA matches without fail, it's dependable. I can't imagine a real life scenario where I would need more than 100 rounds without the opportunity to clean it. If I were to go to a fighting pistol class I'd consider taking my wife's Glock
  4. I meant no disrespect to all the good people that come to this country and want to better their lives. I'm well aware that our nation is a melting pot of individuals seeking freedom, and that has made it the greatest nation on earth. When my hot button is pushed (as in our national flag) I tend to get carried away preaching about getting rid of the visiting rift raft. And fail to mention I'm not inferring any ill will to those here legally seeking citizenship. So, with that said, if I offended you in anyway, I sincerely apologize Robtattoo.
  5. Yes I am if you're not a born or naturalized citizen of the U.S. You should not have full rights until you are a legal citizen, much less disrespect / decimate the symbol that millions gave their last measure for, not withstanding millions more maimed and dismembered for life. I certainly can see your point and the implications of such a proposal if enacted, however... Would you personally allow people like this in your home and/or associate with them? I consider the USA 8 generations of home and each generation of the family tree served in the military, to protect our way of life. Still in this day and age, my way of life isn't spitting in the face of Americans by desecrating the American flag, for which it stands. We're giving up freedoms now in the name of national security, and the majority of us on TGO are legal citizens. I'm more worried about maintaining the bill of rights for legal citizens than disrespectful aliens. We have enough legal citizens of low moral character as it is, we don't need to spread out the welcome wagon for more. Sorry about the rant but that's a touchy subject with me and how my brain reasons.
  6. Hi ya and welcome to a great forum. There's guys on here who have forgotten more than I'll ever know about ammo, guns and gear.
  7. despicable! I for one would like to see the green card, visa and immigration laws amended to include immediate and permanent deportation for those that disrespect our national heritage and national symbols. You're a better person the me for holding your tongue. I would wonder what they might be doing to the food where the work based on their character and morals?
  8. I see what you're asking now. Whether their gun buster sign meets the letter of the law or not is a moot point with me, as long as it is posted to notice prior to entering the establishment. I don't want to break the law knowingly or not. With that said, I'll contradict myself. I would prefer it be highly visible and distinguished from all the other signs and advertisements you see pasted everywhere at the entrances to stores. At some stores, I have to stand in front of the entrance a minute or two to look at all the international symbols, do's and don't and advertisements. Then walk in and do the same with the double door. Unless you're vigilant, it can easily be missed.
  9. Experiencing allot of emotions today, mostly sick to my stomach, scared and a feeling of helplessness. This morning at 8:00 A.M. my 21 year old daughter was grabbed in her work parking lot and forced at gun point to her head to the inside of her employment building. She is a loan officer in training at the Scott Credit Union, Cahokia, IL. Once inside it was discovered there were two of them. There were three employees, one of which was a manager in training, all female. Both scumbags were described as having small handguns. The scumbags (I’m withholding what I would like to call them) tightly bound my daughter and the other two employees with nylon tie wraps in an out of the way office. They threatened to kill them unless they did exactly what they were told. They demanded that they open the vault immediately. The only employee that had access was the manager in training. My daughter has only worked for Scott Credit Union for about three months and is still in training herself. Fortunately the MIT maintained her cool and was able to open the vault. It was reported to the Cahokia police that over $100,000.00 was stolen. A little back ground: I spent about 30 years in that now crime infested stink hole named Cahokia, it’s next door to East St. Louis, IL. It was founded in 1699. It wasn’t bad when I purchased my house and it was an easy commute across the Poplar Street Bridge to work. So I toughed it out until I was able to retire and moved to God’s country, Tennessee. We tried very hard to convince our daughter to relocate with us to TN. She has become independent and wanted to stay in Cahokia with her life long friends. She thinks country life is boring. She recently completed her Associates Degree at Southwestern Illinois College and obtained her job shortly there after as a credit union teller, then just got promoted to loan officer in training. Get this! This place has been robbed not once, not twice, not three times but… Four times in the last three months! This time they are promising to add some security? By second hand information I’m told, their security cameras are obsolete and not functioning in some areas! According to my daughter they are going to upgrade their system. Whoopee freaking deal… How about hiring a security guard? They are not taking employee safety and security seriously. Anyway, fortunately no one was hurt, save sore wrists and hands from the nylon tie wraps. I’m going to encourage my daughter to seek employment elsewhere in a safer environment and neighborhood. But she is making more money than she has ever made in her life and likes the job? I’m probably going to push my parental authority to the extreme and demand she get the hell out of there. I’m here to tell you, I’m frightened about how things could have turned out. I thank God everything turned out okay and no one was shot and / or killed. I’m so angry I want to personally meet these scumbags face-to-face to the last man standing. I’m depressed because there’s nothing I can do about it and can’t convince my daughter to relocate with us. According to my daughter, she didn’t have much time to react. She said he jumped up from an adjacent field and ran at her and grabbed her. She said she was thinking it was some sort of joke. With that mindset and reaction, even if she was armed, in retrospect, she did the right thing and is alive. As you all know she didn’t have an option to be armed anyway. Strike one; she still lives in “The Peoples Republicâ€. Strike two, like 99% of other financial institutions, no weapons allowed. So, there is no other option to protect one’s own life and limb. I wouldn’t recommend pepper spray against a handgun. You read about these crimes, and worse all the time, and sort of brush them off and try to learn from them. I can tell you from deep inside, when it strikes your family it becomes very personal. You wish it had happened to you and not your daughter. Life is not fair I know but a parent has no greater love than for his children. Needed to rant and vent a little as I calm down. Sorry…
  10. Add to my wish list the U.S. House of Representatives of which all funding flows. Stop funding the out of control executive branch and mush for brains SCOTUS. What if the House of Representatives refuses to fund this socialist program?
  11. At what point do you suppose the majority of U.S. citizens will pick up a copy of the U.S. Constitution and the Declaration of Independence and read it? Then go to their Webster dictionary and look up the word tyranny? Would this insignificant word have an application in our government today? Just asking.
  12. Thanks, I really appreciate that! Haven't worn it for awhile but I believe the problem is the hard plastic paddle has no give, and that's causing the discomfort. Thanks again Mark.

    Kimbers

BTW. I'm very accurate with my Kimbers shooting my 55 gallon cans @ 21 feet, even with my eyes closed

    Kimbers

I've bought two Kimbers (Pro Raptor & Ultra CDP II) from LA Firearms in Union City, TN. They claim to be the second largest firearms dealer in TN.? They have always had a good selection of Kimbers each visit.
  15. I'll drink to that! However, we do have a multi-party system; the Greens, Communists, Constitutionals, etc. Corporate America and the wealthy elect to support one or both of the two major party's, and we all know power is rooted in who has the most money. It's totally ludicrous to spend millions of dollars, much less hundreds of millions of dollars for a political office that pays a salary that is meager by comparison. In my mind, only two types of individuals would want to hold high political office in these modern times. Those that want to participate in the plunder, and those that want to stop the plunder. Those that want to stop the plunder will never get elected because they would have to accept campaign contributions from big business and lobbyists. And they don't give that money out of the goodness of their hearts, they demand something in return, more plunder and access to some serious ear bending. Another thing I've noticed since the Eisenhower presidency. It seems to me Americans vote by looks (both physical and projected), spit and polish, and not the character, substance and message of the candidate. That has become very apparent during all the presidential debates and is capitalized by the liberal media. And these days, who would argue with this fact? Americans WILL vote into office those that promise them the most plunder, not what's best for the country as a whole. The JFK mantra has now become; Ask NOT what you can do for your country, ask what the country can do for YOU! Seams we've become a nation of me, me, me? IMHO. We are well on the road to becoming subjects, come next November it will most likely become official. It's a sad state of affairs ladies and gentleman. Soap Box / OFF
  16. It looks pretty darn good to me! What material is the "paddle" made out of? I bought a nice paddle holster a couple years ago, works great, however... The hard plastic paddle starts to hurt my hip in less than a hour so its become another "chalk this one up to the other 16 holsters in a cardboard box". Thought about how to add some padding to the inside of the paddle to get it out of prison on occasion?
  17. With all due respect, I'm totally against any sort of social welfare paid for by the tax payer, period. It diminishes the ability of parents to provide for their own families. Our founding founders and government grappled with this same question many times. Many war veteran hero's gave their last measure of self to our country and left their families destitute by their sacrifice. Some leaders and a part of Congress wanted to give war widows and their children some relief in the form of a very small pension. When up for a vote in Congress it was re-soundly defeated. However noble and compassionate the cause, they realized it was immoral to seize another mans labor to distribute it to another. Sure, many people have needed a helping hand sometime in their lives. Prior to FDR and LBJ you had family, church, neighbors and friends to temporally assist during rough times. It appears it worked well, and society was much more civil and appreciative for it. I don't want to parse words but, what really gets my goat these days... I worked 42 years in my life and paid tens of thousands of dollars into my Federal retirement, and they call it my benefit. When you receive food stamps, Section 8, welfare, etc., it's called an ENTITLEMENT, go figure? Just the way I look at the world.
  18. I've never tried to figure out how much if anything I'm saving compared to the grocery store, but, I compare quality and taste. I love fresh ripe big juicy red tomato's, but I can't stand the hard crunchy tasteless hot house tomato's from the major stores. I know where my vegetables came from and they don't weep in Spanish. I know what pesticides if any were used. And maybe most importantly, if you've ever witnessed migratory farm workers working in the field harvesting produce, there are no restroom / hand washing facilities anywhere. I personally believe this is the cause of most the contaminated produce killing and sickening people. Not Ferrel hogs as speculated where there's no Ferrel hog populations. JMHO.
  19. Franklin, of course, is also known for opposing the use of an eagle -- "a bird of bad moral character" -- as a national symbol. Thanks for posting this. I was aware of the Gasden history somewhat and the opposition to the American Bald Eagle as our national symbol, however. Anyone know why the American Eagle was opposed and what Franklin means by "a bird of bad moral character"? Personally, I'm in awe of all birds of prey. BTW. Got three numbers today. 1-0-7, shew wee!
  20. Me too. Now I'm all Binged up!
  21. Yep! That's how I feel about it too. Well said.
  22. When the EPA, OHSA and the other alphabet soups were created, the intentions were admirable. Same thing with the unions. Think about the number of coal miners alive today due to OSHA regulations. The number of people who didn't die in plane crashes due to the FAA and NTSB just to cite a few. Unions were a working mans best friend when we were the worlds creditor and the worlds leading manufacturer. Times have changed in this new world economy and the bottom line is the profit and growth if a company is to survive. The unions have greatly enhanced the blue collar wage, working conditions and benefits. IMO, if we are to again compete for jobs and manufacturing in a world based economy, we would need to revert back to the primitive working conditions and wages that are now paid to the third world country's now doing our old jobs. The question seems to be; do we want clean air, clean water, safe food, red tape, regulations and government bureaucracy, or a low paying no benefits job? However, history shows whenever such organizations form due to their independent swath of territory to protect, and accountable to few, sooner or later it all becomes about power and/or money. I would say greed, profit margin and power pretty much sums it up? I haven't heard of too many companies going into business just to create jobs for Americans. And how many people do you think run for public office because they don't want to participate in the plunder? These days one of the best paying employment opportunities and openings is, "a lobbyist". I hear tell they out number all of Congress 2-3-4 to one. Just like Visine, I got the rant out
  23. Thank you very much! That will work on my stove. Dear Santa...
  24. Wow, that All American 930 is the cats meow! I believe I could get twice the canning done in the same amount of time. I going to get me one for next year! I do have a question though? Without the canner sitting on my stove it's hard to picture. I have a standard size propane stove / range. As you're more than well aware, depending on what you're canning, I have a need to use all four burners at the same time. With the diameter of this 930 model are you able to use all four burners at once? Now you got me all excited about getting one of those! Thanks!
