  1. I wonder how "Turtleman" would handle this? Oh yea, he took a bath in vinegar and tomato juice. Live action!
  2. Not much doubt on my part. My "moral duty" is to protect myself and my loved ones. If a situation ever occurred that required using my last resort, I would know enough that occurred and who the players are. If I walked into the situation involving a loved one, that information at that time would be a moot point anyway, I'd have to suffer the aftermath. I realize that under Tennessee law, you are legally allowed to defend third parties from death and / or great bodily harm. Most likely you would not see the entire event as it unfolds. It's very possible to mistake the aggressor / criminal from the innocent victim, that's occurred numerous times. It's possible the perceived victim would turn on you in defense of "her man" physically and/or in a court of law. Getting physically involved opens up a whole can of nasties that could very well negatively effect you and your family the rest of your life, as you all are well aware of. Once you un- holster that weapon it's too late, you're committed, and best not second guess yourself or if the perceived victim is actually the victim at all. When you make that perceived moral personal decision to intervene, you're making that decision on your families behalf also. If you guessed right, the news media will parade you all around... in the mud. So, it all boils down to self preservation or sacrifice. I'm definitely not cold hearted but, given the choice, I prefer to error on the side of caution and not face a judge explaining my perceived observations and improper / illegal felony actions. I know who BUBBA is and where he lives, I don't want to personally marry him. I don't want to be forced to sell everything I own by a court of law and transfer it to someone else because I made an honest error in judgment. I don't want my paycheck substantially garnished and given to another as mentioned above. If you un- holster that gun in public, I can imagine it affecting the rest of your entire life. Will it be worth it? P.S. I just read all the preceding posts. I just parroted what most said.
  3. It's a shame. In Gander Mountain at Jackson, I'm like a kid in a candy store with no money. To bad their not competitive on pricing.
  4. Tea time? Shooting birdies and eagles? Foursomes? The 19th hole? Mulligan's Stew? Boogie Men? Putters? The front and back 9? Sounds like fun! I tried it many, many years ago. When it was my turn to try and club the ball most everyone took cover and started yelling some number?
  5. I hear ya. A little vacation like that sure does recharge the ole batteries, however... I'm not psychic but, I'll bet you and yours had a nice long discussion about retirement plans on the drive home? Even though it's not East Tennessee, I retired here among other reasons because it's beautiful. Living in urban flat as a board Illinois most of my life, I appreciated my yard mole hills because I thought they were scenic. Here in NW TN., I'm in second heaven
  6. Watching the patrons and their reactions (not the GG) I'll bet my whitey tighties other than the faint smell of gun powder, there's an overwhelming stench of soiled undies!
  7. Well, since you put it that way... I'll admit to buying more than one Saigon Tea in my day
  8. OK, looking at it from that point of view, I can understand that reasoning. How about the convicted criminal coming out of the court house playing hide and seek?
  9. Having spent many years in the military to include Ft. Campbell and a stint at Ft. Bragg years ago, seems like some things never change. In military towns some business's (most are respectable) prey on our service members, in-particular, pawn shops, bars and used car lots. Ever notice the disproportionate amount of pawn shops, bars and used junker dealers around military bases? The majority of our armed forces are comprised of young adults with little life experiences, and are susceptible to being taken advantage of by unscrupulous predators. Back when General Lee was my military commander, the orderly room had a list on the wall 4 feet tall of business's to avoid because they abused and took advantage of base personnel. These "Combat Pawn" people look to be the STD'S of our military troops. JMHO.
  10. I've noticed a consistent pattern for quite some time now watching the news. Have you ever noticed that 95% +/- of the time when they show a criminal "SUSPECT" on the news, they always hide their face, and LE allows it? Seems to me a real man would cowboy up and not be ashamed to show their face? Why do you suppose they are hiding their face as the news media normally releases their name(s)? When the "SUSPECT" arrives at the jail he / she has photo's taken of him / her for the record and future use by LE. I for one would like to see their face for future and / or past reference, be it to follow the crime or for future identification of the individual if it's a local neighborhood criminal. Why does LE and the judicial system allow a suspect / convicted felon to hide their faces from their victims, public and neighbors?
  11. Henderson remained in the Marion County Jail late Monday in lieu of a $31,000 bond. Dawkins was released Sunday after posting an $11,000 bond. Humm! Has the money to post bond? Wonder where that came from?
  12. As individuals, we all think differently, we all have different life experiences, we all have our prejudice (preconceived). Get a group of like minded individuals collectively together, and you pretty much stack the odds in your favor for a desired outcome. That's why jury selection IMHO, is one of the most critical strategies in a jury trial. Get six staunch liberals and six staunch conservatives on this jury and what do you think the verdict would be? I myself am hung on that one? As far as rioting... Those types are criminals anyway, looking for a reason to loot, burn, pillage and create civil discord to benefit themselves. We'll show them, we'll burn down our hood.
  13. Under the exact same circumstances, I wonder how many of us would have responded in like manner? As we all know, it's not uncommon for the police to serve a warrant at the wrong address. Who knows, it could be one of us next time? For the safety of LE it's doubtful policy is going to change much serving search / arrest warrants, so... These types of mistakes seem to be becoming more and more frequent. Let's arm chair quarterback this scenario? Evidently LE failed to announce, "Police, search warrant". From what I'm reading lately, home invaders are picking up this tactic and imitating LE also, can't be sure of who's who without a score card. It's too late for this resident but... You can't influence or control the actions of an aggressive home invasion legal or not. So, short of not being armed (as I would have been), on the residents part, what could have been done to prevent this? Thoughts?
  14. Who can debate that?
  15. I wonder what the deal is, same here at my local Wal-Mart? I mostly shoot 12 ga., .223, .45, and 9mm. Every other trip there they might have one box of 9mm, .45 or .223. The counter person always tells me they sold out. This has been an on going thing since I moved here a few years ago. Do you suppose they have a purchasing quota, never order enough? Short of reloading, they're the cheapest source for ammo for me. Wish I knew someone nearby that reloaded to show me the ropes.
  16. Hey Robert. I don't necessarily disagree with you and certainly don't want to argue but, I'm a little confused about your reasoning? A moral person? Where does a moral person get his / her morals, the government, their parents, Roseanne Barr, Kathy Griffin, the Ten Commandments? And who is to say a person is moral, the goberment, next door neighbor, MSNBC, the Bible? According to a certain religion, it's moral to stone your wife for family honor, kill Christians and Jews hiding behind a rock. What do, say Communists base their moral values on? What is our United States Constitution and law originally based on, other than some English laws and concepts? Short answer: Religion... The God of the Bible. The author of morality.
  17. I'm glad to see there's allot of people here on TGO that knows how the system works. Some really good valid points mentioned that your average voter doesn't know, understand or care about. I also think a large segment of voters fall for the rhetoric and charisma of the candidate, and not the character, credentials, track record and message. We need to return to our heritage of a Constitutional Republic or we're all toast.
  18. ^^^^ THIS ^^^^ THIS ^^^^ THIS ^^^^ THIS ^^^^
  19. Gee thanks! Had to wipe off my monitor...
  20. If you read the stated Republican platform, sure sounds conservative to me! But in practice, it's just a bunch of propaganda to mislead the mass. Very few people run for high elected office to improve the country, it's all about ego, money and power. There's only two types of people who run for office, those that want to participate in the plunder, and those that want to end the plunder. Guess which one will get elected? The one who promises the most out of the public treasury. How about taking the oath of office, to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States? Then do everything you can to destroy it? What does that say about the character and morals of that individual and political party? It's more efficient and logical to take over a political platform and change it from within, rather than destroy it and build a new one.
  21. I like to do my shopping at 4:00 A.M. - 5:00 A.M. at my local 24/7 super center, to avoid the crowd. My pet peeve is leaving and the alarm goes off at the exit door. Stand there for a few minutes looking stupid waiting for someone to come look through all your items like you're a thief. Usually some cheap item you wouldn't think they would put a security chip on, and the checkout lady didn't run it across the magnet. That makes you feel all warm and fuzzy inside!
  22. Oops, sorry... I thought this was a personal injury lawyer thread
  23. Absolutely positively 100% correct. I'll bet my bippy there's going to be a substantial segment of the population voting their conscience (third party). So, it appears we're in for another four years of national socialism, decades with the future SCOUS appointments. Just as the sun will rise in the Eastern sky tomorrow morning, a Republican or Democrat will become the next president. That's where the money and support is. Those that promise the most out of the public treasury will get elected. Show me the money! With the above indisputable facts; in my pea size brain it's logical to vote for the lesser of two evils. As the "lesser" should take US from point A to point B at a slower rate. Thereby allowing the American people more time to realize their errors and try to fix the system. It's strategically sound to change an established political party from within to the will of the people, rather than destroy it and build a new one. I believe the military war colleges teach this strategy?
  24. They pretend to pay us and we pretend to work. It's going to get interesting folks.
