Think about this for a moment on elections and the two political party system, or elections in general, and correct me if I'm confused or if my facts are skewed. There's only two voting camps. Those that want something from the government (take from the productive and give it to the lazy, plunder) and those that want government out of their life and earn / keep their labor and wages. Either a Democrat or Republican will become the next President and Commander and Chief. Forty-nine percent of Americans receive some sort of government assistance, be it: welfare, food stamps, social security, earned income tax credit, disability, WIC, student grants, Section 8, and on and on and on. That's not even counting corporate welfare? I heard somewhere, "when the population learns they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury", the party is just starting. So, when you have about half the population wanting to diminish your ability to provide for your family and steal from your hard labor and earnings and give it to them, by force of law and the politicians choice of beneficiary, whom do you suppose will get elected? Hands out folks! Who was it that said, "there's no free lunch"? Hell, we got Obummer care now you're going to pay for it if you have a job or business. The government doesn't produce one bushel of corn or one barrel of oil. They either tax U.S. to death, borrow it, or run the printing presses overtime. They have already exceeded the limits of all three sources of income and we are insolvent. Our debt is unsustainable and impossible now to pay back. Our grandchildren future have been mortgaged in debt. Unfortunately, a governments debt can not be held accountable, the people are held accountable for all debts, both public and private. Welfare and you owes me has become the single most important factor in major elections by the other camp IMHO. Look for another four more years of digging into your great grand children's well being and future, providing you earn your own keep.

I totally agree with you. Our massive dollar support doesn't seem to be buying much influence or peace anymore. As far as still being totally dependent on foreign oil and alternative energy... The oil industry is rife with money and uses it's influence with mammoth political contributions and lobbyists to suppress cheap efficient alternative energy. With now over seven billion hungry people populating the planet, growing "food" and using it as expensive energy is totally ludicrous. With starving people throughout the world, the cost of fuel to plant, harvest, fertilize, process and transport corn / soybean into usable fuel is an exceptionally dumb idea. When a gallon of cow's milk costs 3-4 times the price of gas, tell me someone's not milking the system. The middle East and the oil conglomerates have us in a well lay-ed strangle hold and it's well past time to break our ties and become energy independent. Hell, we went to the moon decades ago, computers are evolving exponentially not to mention other technology, and no substantial progress is being made in solar, wind and other alternative technologies? That reeks of conspiracy to me!

I had some bigger tires put on my p/u and it changed my speedometer. According to my GPS now, when the speedometer reads 60 MPH, I'm actually at 66 MPH. The faster you go, the more it's off. It's a nice thing to know in advance.

Now that I have thought about edible hell and brimstone... I'll bet the saying, "sheet fire and save matches" was coined by a person canning summer sunshine

Stupid is what stupid does! I shot the classifier last Saturday so I can participate in the KY-TN regional match next month. The eyes are getting some age on them so, a couple months ago I got a set of XS Big Dot sights installed on one of my favorite guns, my Kimber .45 CDP II. I aimed it around a few times to "dot the I" right, how hard is that? So I never even shot a round with it to see how I would adjust. Well here it is classifier morning and decided to classify in CDP with my little carry gun. What a NOVICE idea. Should have practiced with the new sights first or grabbed my Glock with standard sights. One thing I'm considering is taking some white out or paint and making a thin horizontal line above the vertical rear sight line to make a "T". That might aid in my elevation aim?

A question for the Romney apologists
Dennis1209 replied to Chucktshoes's topic in 2A Legislation and Politics
In this moment in history four things are certain. Everyone is going to expire, your going to get taxed to death, the sun will rise in the East, and either a Democrap or Republican will become the next Commander in Chief next November. Compared to what's presently in office, come November I'm walking into the polling place with a wooden clothes pin compressed on my olfactory sensor, take a couple of deep breaths, and electronically vote for the lessor of two weevils. I'm by no means a supporter of what the Grand Ole Pathetic's (G.O.P.) have crammed down my gullet and I don't agree with Romney on many issues but... I'm only one vote (two if you count my spouse) and my reasoning is simple. Vote for the politician who is most likely to send us down the same toilet bowl at a slower pace. Maybe the next presidential primary will produce a third party candidate who has a chance to un-seat the current corrupt two party system. Based on my assumptions, I sincerely hope the conservative minded voters don't waste their valuable votes on good men like Ron Paul in protest. Numbers don't lie (unless they're fidgeted of course), a protest vote is a vote for what's in office now and we'll see at least another four more years of his B.S. -
I've had mine for a few years now with zero problems. Like you, I put VZ grips on mine and it made a big difference in my grip. I recently put a set of XS Big Dot sights on it (not shown) and I'm having a heck of a time adapting to them, I'm shooting all over the place? The only thing I'm not crazy about is the small recoil spring replacement, what a pain!

Hi Mike! Don't want to argue or have any hard feelings, but would like to question some of your opinions. The Constitution was created for a moral and religious society, it was known it would not work otherwise. Our founding fathers adapted most laws "policy" based on English law and biblical scripture. Who or what in history taught us right from wrong, our moral compass if you will? Is it an inner feeling we are all born with, our genetic DNA, our present government defining right from wrong, the Koran stating to kill Jews and Christians hiding behind a rock? As a nation we're rapidly going down the path of societal self destruction and self only. I like to believe there is more to me than the 10 to the 5,000 power chance I am the product of a tasteless primordial soup from a the Big Bang that is said to have occurred from nothing into the universe (wow, something from nothing). Man in his infinite wisdom sure does come up with some hum dingers IMHO.

In my experience, gas in general and flatulence in particular is the most effective means of zombie control. It repulses every zombie I know?

We have a number of them around here too. On occasion, they are very close to the house and wake me up in the middle of the night when they start that pack yelping. I might only see a couple a year and they seem to be shy and elusive. They must have different habits than domestic dogs. I constantly see coyote scat on my tar & gravel road when I take a walk. I've never seen a K-9 prefer taking a dump on a road when grass / ground is all around? The yotes must eat a lot of some sort of bean or paw paw, as the scat is loaded with them and fur.

I'll tell ya what it is... Your taste buds have burned up long ago from fire eating. I'll bet Angle Soft feels like 200 grit sand paper and you sing soprano on the toilet seat!

Not enough info. I usually see allot of snakes stretched out straight on my driveway or road getting warmed up. As a matter of fact, last week coming home on our two lane country road, the wife and I saw a limb across the road about 100 yards in front of us. As we got closer we realized it was a snake about the length of the road (8 feet), straight as a stick can get. We stopped and got out to look at it because we thought it had been run over. Looked at it closely and didn't see any squish marks, tongue not flickering, etc. Round eyes (not slitted), small non arrow shape head, black and speckled, at least seven foot long. All of a sudden, the tongue starts flickering, head turns slightly to look at me and moves slightly. Wanted to show off to wife and pick it up off the road but it scampered off on its own non two legs. Got home and looked it up in my wildlife book. Was a Common King Snake. So far this year I've seen a bunch of Rat snakes, a few copperheads, one Cottonmouth, one Rough Scale Green snake, one Rink neck snake and a whole bunch of snake skins on my property. Law or not, I don't kill any snakes. With the amount of field mice & rats around here I appreciate their service. Only exception to killing a snake is if it's poisonous and aggressive. But I've never ran across an aggressive snake yet. At times water moccasins can be pretty ornery and need dispatched though.

Thanks guys! Mono vision never even crossed my mind? I'll be trying that!

No such thing as a dumb gardening question. I'm by no means an experienced potato farmer, as this was my first year planting them, but I'll tell you what I've learned, heard and tried. Our co-op carries "seed potato's" both red and white prior to St. Patrick's Day. As I've "heard" they should be planted on or by St. Pat's day and something about full / dark moon? The more eyes on the seed potato the better. I went back to the co-op around end of April first part of May to get some more to plant, and they were long since sold out. I've heard store bough tatters are not very productive due to not many "eyes" in them and they are most likely genetically modified and do not take well if at all. I planted two rows of about 75 hills per row and saw an amazing difference between rows and production. In row #1 I quartered the seed potato and planted. I was getting tired and bored so in row #2, I halved them and planted them. Long story short, row #2 grew much bigger, looked better, and produced more and bigger tatters. I'm in the learning process myself with tatters. Oh yea! I planted both red and white potato's. The reds are a pain to peel, have those pesky eyes you have to dig out when peeling but, IMO taste better than the whites? Seems I got bigger and more whites than I did red tatters. Just my humbling first experience with planting them. Best of luck next season.

Now that's being a farmer! I planted potato's for the first time in my life just before last St. Patrick's Day. I planted about 150 hills and started harvesting them toward the end of July when the above ground foliage was about dead. Had no choice as the weeds were about to take over. The soil around here can become like concrete with no rain and dug them out by hand. Don't know if I did anything wrong but, I only got about three bushel's of tatters total with the occasional normal baking size? I hear horse manure is much better than cow manure for a garden due to it's being better digested and the seeds in it can't germinate? You have a nice garden! Best of Luck.

Welcome from our state capitol, Paris, TN. You came to the right place.

I agree. And GOA is a no compromise organization and Larry Pratt is a fine American. The NRA always says and does a few things I disagree with every few years however, they remain the most effective 2nd Amendment gun rights organization to date. I don't appreciate some of the candidates they support either, but all in all they are well worth supporting IMO.

Yep! A 40' x 50' pole barn. Lot's of room, however... The price for a concrete floor and front doors was just too expensive, so I opted to not get that. Big Mistake! It keeps all my farm equipment and other stuff dry but, it gets covered with more dirt and bird crap than if left outside, I don't know what's worse? I think the PB was about $4,000.00 without the floor and front doors?

I've noticed most folks down here are more courteous driving too. It's sad that you have to pass a law to regulate common sense safety and courtesy to a fellow motorist broken down on the side of the road, much less LE. After all, if it was you broken down on the side of the highway, say changing a flat tire, how pleasant is it with other trucks / cars blasting by at 65+ miles per hour, three feet from your vehicle? The wind blast alone is enough to destabilize your vehicle jack. But as you mentioned, it's much worse up North for some reason.

As I was sitting out on my back deck this morning (by the way, it faces East) drinking coffee and eating my bacon & egg sandwich on toast with mayonase... I couldn't help but wonder, how long it will be before pork products are banned under threat of death? I hear bacon grease makes wonderful AR lube. Ummm... Bacon, it's what's for dinner!

Let me preface this by saying I spent most of my life around the St. Louis Metro area. I've been to many countries and U.S. states, most states have been North of the Mason-Dixon line. I moved here roughly three years ago. Since retiring here in Tennessee, my driving mileage has dropped from about 12,000 miles per year, to about 2,000. In other words, I don't drive a whole lot anymore. Since moving here, for the second time, I was driving on Highway 79 on my way to purchase some .223 ammo, and all of a sudden... Breaks lights and every swinging Peter, Paul and Mary was pulling over to the side of the highway. Not knowing what was happening, I also pulled over to the side of the road to wait. Momentarily a Hersh and limousine followed by many cars with their head lights on was passing by the other direction. What beautiful respect and compassion! It made my heart swell... Where I came from if you disrupted the flow of traffic, even for a funeral, one handed birds would be flying everywhere and crazies developing road rage and cutting the funeral procession off! If this is a Southern tradition... I like it and gives me one more reason to be proud I'm now a Tennessean! Would there be any more wonderful traditions / gestures a newer resident might not be aware of?

That's it... I've had it. Enough is enough! This hyphenated Euro-American Cracker is marching right down to the Sheriff's department and turning in all his guns. I feel better about myself already

Thanks guys! As far as IDPA... They're cruel. A pair of black hands and a half black target as a back drop behind a XS Big Dot Sight sure helps but, I hear tell it's illegal
